The King's crash was based on Richard Petty's crash in the 1988 Daytona 500
+Thomas McGinley: Then The King would be barrel-rolling against the fence. The crash in Cars is based on this crash.
Thomas McGinley I don't know why people keep saying this. Well, I know why, it's because it makes sense for them to base it off a Petty crash since he voiced The King (character that crashed,) but for whatever reason they based it off this Rusty Wallace flip.
HumaylX Playz yes
RIP Bob Jenkins ... I can still hear this call at the line all these years later.
Miss him and Benny, commentating just isn't the same without those two. And Ned Jarrett of course!
The only thing that came out of that in one piece is Rusty.
Obviously this is all Danica Patricks fault.

Anything that flies that far oughta have a damned stewardess on it
hilarious
I'm sure Rusty requested a cold draft
662wc Yea, with an in Flight dinner & Beer🍺 👍
Yeah, with the name Teresa Earnhardt
He made a call to his car insurance agent while he was flying.
As a Rusty Wallace fan and being there that day I was terrified for my driver. Amazing video, thanks to Dale Earnhardt for being that kind of guy. I remember you got Rusty’s gloves. What a symbolic gesture by the Intimidator. NASCAR HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME
Are you shitting me? Godhardt intentionally wrecked Rusty, there was never a hole wide enough to fit his car and he just ran through the back of him.
4 years late bud.
Rusty and Earnhardt were like best friends
@@djmohab2 Yeah but when Earnhardt did it it's okay, nowadays if Kyle Busch or someone else does it they're the first fans to cry about dirty racing.
@@captainandie4929 pathetic how everyone just simps for Godhardt and son
i remember seeing this on tv. back when nascar was still good…..
what do you mean? It's the same damn thing. Cars going around, and around, and around in circles.
Brandon Slay
you don't like NASCAR because it's all about the money, yet you like F1, i watched part of an F1 race the other day and it's still boring as hell, give me NASCAR anyday.
uibiguibgui kbufuyifyyf not really. its the competitive part. and its way different. the cars nowadays are all the same, but back then they were all different and it was all about who had the fastest car / who drove the best.
+DCO 7 actually its ovals
+African Racer: Talladega is actually a square/rectangle with rounded corners
An now Ryan Preece.
Seeing it after Preece's crash.
Thats when NASCAR racing was fun to watch.
Agree Pete, I only watch Daytona and Talladega anymore.
Pete Smith even Bristol is getting boring now
Yes,and lot's of empty seat's
bruh you don't need an apostrophe on every word bruh
plural's don't use apostrophe's
1:06 the angles and rollovers really seems so identical to The King's crash from the first Cars movie.
Maybe they drew inspiration from it
as far as i know they basically copied this flip for Cars.
Wow, what a difference in the racing. I use to be big into Nascar when I was younger. Then just became tired of it and I barely follow it now. But wow if it was like this kind of racing now days, id be hooked again.
Same here, it's just a snore fest now. Cookie cutter drivers and tracks.
Not many drivers can wreck like that twice in one season and still win 10 races
1:03 if your lazy
One thing about the intimidator, he would rather kill his friends rather than finish behind them. Then act like it's just racing.
That's Nascar for ya
He apologized and came around the track just to check on Rusty again. You should watch other drivers talking about Dale. He was the "most kind hearted" believe it or not.
Dale didn't mean to turn him here
I jus meant to rattle his cage that's all
@@Roystothecoolkid Just rattle his cage I guess.
Who is here after Ryan Preece’s wreck
That crash looks like The King's crash from Cars the movie
Alessandro Correira it does
Alessandro Correira that’s because they based I️t off of this crash
It does
Inkling Alessandro it is
Captain AL cause the movie was based off this crash
Scariest wreck i ever witnessed live. I love that he walked away though and finished 6th. I recall he did break his wrist but that was the only injury he suffered.
The same crash as the king from cars🥺🥺
Rusty said in a recent interview that Earnhardt called him in the hospital and said "Man I swear I wasn't trying to kill ya."
He said "I know that Dale. I know. Just hard racing."
F'ing liar.
Dale always felt really bad about wrecking people on purpose. Really bad until he cashed his checks.
Yeah right. That's BS. Like Earnhardt's wins. Anybody can spin out and wreck cars to a win.
Um
@@marksark1119 I’m a Earnhardt fan, I understand why you don’t like ol Ironhead but leave the man alone, he’s dead and he took the sport with him.
@@marksark1119rubbing is racing princess a real man does anything to win a coward doesn't do what is needed
Earnhardt was a dirty driver his entire career
Ryan Preece just did this.
It's a strange thing. If cars never wrecked, we wouldn't pay to watch. The fact that it's dangerous draws us in. Then when something does happen, it's like we all suddenly realize that there's something wrong with someone nearly getting killed for our entertainment.
Then we forget all that and look forward to the next race! 😄
I remember watching this live. At the time, it was the most amazing NASCAR crash I'd seen. Still ranks high...
Live By The Sword Die By The Sword - Buddy Baker
Oscar Jimenez, Sr, Buddy Baker was quoting Jesus Christ, which was normal for those road devils. 😆
"i am NOT coming up behind you again old man!"
This was the first race I watched after Davey Allison #28 died . Wasn't sure I was gonna keep up with the sport anymore . Then this race/wreck happened . Rusty finished 6th and walked away with a sprang wrist if I'm not mistaken. I told my friends ,"that's my new driver " . Was a #2 MGD / Lite fan til he retired . Have had the pleasure of meet Rusty several time threw out the years ... He will always be a legend in my book .
Davey Allison was still alive for this race. He finished 7th. Either you have Davey and Alan Kulwicki’s deaths reversed, or you’re talking about watching it on tape.
@@zlinedavid possible that she has this race and the July Diehard 500 confussed. Davey died between New Hampshire and Pocono. The 2nd Talledega race was after Pocono. So its possible that is what she is referring to
@@justinreichow9892 Ahhhh, you’re right. Forgot about that .Yates sat out Pocono, and then I think Robby Gordon drove at Talladega, didn’t he?
Edit: and I think that’s a “she”. 😉
Edit 2: FWIW, I was at this race. Tickets were just forward of the start finish line. We could see Rusty’s car start to lift right in front of us. We initially thought he was dead, because that was a violent tumble.
@@zlinedavid yeah Robby Gordon took over Davey's car at Talledega.
Thanks about pointing out the he is actually a she. I read the post and didn’t look at the profile picture so I just assumed. My mistake.
This was the wildest barrel roll ever until Mr. Preece topped it last Sunday.
Earnhardt would always say "I didn't mean to crash em"... but he always crashed em. You can't take anything way from his talent, but the fact is that Earnhardt was not just a hard racer, he was dirty.
The dirtiest driver ever and the worst sport....next to the Allison's, iron hack was the mouthiest POS in NASCAR
Agreed
Yep, but NASCAR hasn't been the same without the Earnhardt's. I rarely bother watching anymore.
