      @@shawnk1899 he was at the back of the pack, laid back and got in the gas super early. As long as you don't pass before the start/finish line, it's all legal. At anything other than a superspeedway, he would've passed a couple cars, but nothing like that. The restrictor plates make the cars slower to get to race speed, if you hang back and get an early start, you can pass a lot of cars.
      He might have even been a wave-around and was still trying to catch up when they took the green flag and it just worked out for him. I can't remember exactly.

    I personally found the two-car tandem way more exciting than the pack racing at superspeedways. Could never understand why others preferred lap after lap of cars all lined up with very little passing. I was hella sad when they put an end to the tandem.

    • @formercoach1202
      @formercoach1202 6 лет назад +28

      Safety was the reason to get rid of the tandam racing. The second car in line could basically see nothing, so it was a safety issue. I did prefer that to some of the other forms of racing we have seen at the plate tracks. NASCAR really needs to figure out what they are doing with plate racing.

    THANK YOU for the obvious great time and effort you put into these videos. I'm not a real fan of Nascar or F1 style racing, but you do provide some pretty good FREE ENTERTAINMENT!!!!
    Even though I've owned a few older muscle cars and have been to some drag racing events which I see as instant gratification in person, I rarely watch it on tv or live streams. Occasionally, I'll sit through some of the 20-45 minute highlight shows but I've got absolutely no patience, and could never understand why anyone would travel for hours to spend big money, or give up a Sunday afternoon to sit in front of a television, and watch cars drive around in circles for hours. I mean no offense to any any of you fans, maybe it's a bit of jealousy I haven't been able to figure out and enjoy.

      No it was Carl needed a win to qualify for the playoffs I believe, and Kyle didn’t. So Kyle didn’t retaliate because of this.

    2:45 would be impossible today. The cars are too aero dependent. They are also too low to the ground, the splitter would dug into the grass.

    You include probably the worst example of a pass in the history of auto racing. Newmans pass on Larsen? Really. A great pass? Really sad that is what people think is a great pass. All the other examples of talent, and racing abilities - and you put this in there? Newman was a 9th place car all season, who moved people left and right to score a second place final only because he wrecks Larsen. Sad.
