    "That's a hard lick!" How many times you hear that during the season? Lol...guy cracks me up. Btw, ever since Dale Earnhardt lost his life, Daryll has always claimed each crash looks really bad and he's worried about the driver. While he was watching his brother win the Daytona 500, he got very excited and emotional while Dale was pretty much sitting dead in his car. I think he felt so bad for being happy for his brother while Dale was sitting there, dead. He obviously had no clue the crash was that serious so you can't blame him one bit. But I think he decided to play it safe from then on, so he doesn't seem like he doesn't care about the other drivers. Poor guy...

    • @therayven3147
      @therayven3147 5 лет назад +31

      Yes, I still remember that race... And it's funny how Earnhardt was playing defensive and not offensive that race... Then again maybe he wanted his boy to have that race seeing that, if my memory serves me correctly, Jr. has not won a Daytona 500 up to that point... Also he may have been like, "fuck it, I got all three of my car in the top three, so..."... Either way, it was a sad state of affairs in that day...
      D. W. was Earnhardt's closest friend in NASCAR, and has never really been the same sense his death...

    • @chasee3797
      @chasee3797 5 лет назад +24

      @@therayven3147 Dale's death very much affected Darrell and Michael Waltrip. I believe he was perfectly content with finishing third that day. He also kept saying to Michael that he was going to win in his car and how they were going to team up during the race. Dale always believed in Michael and knew he could drive, even amid the 461 race losing streak he had.

      @@ricky107_ In many past ARCA races (most notably 2005 at Daytona), many drivers just pile into crashes that have been occurring for over 10 seconds without slowing down. If someone piles into a crash while barely slowing down, it became known as an ARCA brake (basically saying that the only way for ARCA drivers to slow down is to hit another car or object). In video games and racing simulations, many people still yell "ARCA BRAKE!!!" over chat if a car piles into a crash without slowing down.

What you see on the TV don't do what is actually happening justice...
      We see a crash and say, "well, that could have been avoided" or "I would have done it this way", but untill you're actually *IN* that situation, you really don't understand how it feels...

    DW's bones feel it every time he sees a driver smack the wall. You can hear it in his voice. I admit DW used to get on my last nerve but I respect how much he cares about all the drivers. It doesn't sound fake or put on to me

    It's really something rather, idk, emotional? In hearing them just chat away and then suddenly react to the crashes.

    When the brakes blow you got three ways to stop in a race, 1. Engine brake, but that won’t do much if your at track speed. 2. Slam the wall, but that wrecks yo car and hurts lien hell. And 3. Slam into the poor bastard in front of you.

    Around 6:04, that drivers throttle stuck after the first impact, not brake failure

    Pocono Turn 1 is the worst place to lose your brakes. Jeff Gordon and Bubba Wallace both crashed hard

    2:57 Wouldn't it have been better to stay up high and ride the wall rather than go down low and smash the wall?

    • @scotthix2926
      @scotthix2926 4 года назад

      Yes but your instinct is never to turn into a wall, in a split second decision. Even in drivers meeting they say for turn 1 ride the wall if brake failure,but again instinct.

    I was going to suggest Geoff Bodine's crash at Watkins Glen in 1989, but after looking it up and watching it more closely, it appears his brake failure was a result of tire failure. So, I'm not sure this wreck fits the criteria.

    Oh, the usual. Crash due to break failure. You?

    Never understood why they turn down into the grass to try to slow down at pocono. They’re only making it worse by increasing the angle they hit the wall at.

    I didn't used to pay much attention to DW when he said a crash was bad until Dale was killed. DW was the only one truly concerned about Dale, I wasn't because I didn't think it looked that bad, I was wrong. DW knows what's up.
