  • A squeaking noise coming from the alternator belt usually indicates that the belt is worn or not properly tensioned. It's important to address this issue promptly to prevent the belt from slipping or breaking. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:
    1. **Visual Inspection**: Start by visually inspecting the alternator belt for any signs of wear, cracks, or fraying. If you notice any damage, the belt may need to be replaced.
    2. **Tension Check**: Check the tension of the alternator belt. It should have the right amount of tension; not too loose or too tight. Refer to your vehicle's manual for the correct tension specifications.
    3. **Belt Adjustment**: If the belt is not properly tensioned, you may need to adjust it. This can typically be done by loosening the mounting bolts of the alternator, adjusting the position of the alternator to increase or decrease tension, and then tightening the bolts back up.
    4. **Belt Lubrication**: In some cases, a squeaking noise can be caused by lack of proper lubrication. You can try applying a small amount of belt dressing or conditioner to see if it helps reduce the noise.
    5. **Professional Inspection**: If you're unsure about diagnosing or fixing the issue yourself, it's best to seek the help of a professional mechanic. They can properly assess the situation and recommend the necessary repairs or replacements.
Remember, addressing a squeaking alternator belt early can help prevent more serious issues down the line. If you need further assistance or have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Sounds like belt I see a shrewd hanging. I always remove and turn every Lilly by hand. U can also unplug the alternator and see if it quites down wile running. I find this very useful

Belt's are like tires they get used to turning one direction. If he reused the belt when installing the new alternator then there's a chance the belt could have been put on in the opposite direction than what it's used to.

You can see the belt is frayed. Also, it could also be a pulley.
