Looks like I failed to include the link to that particular piece. I did find it on Amazon by searching turbo feed line and then just using the one with the appropriate length and the 90° bend on the fitting.
I used a small screwdriver to pry it over the lip and then worked the driver around till it was on. You could use a heat gun to soften the hose a little for more stretch
Love the build and am planning on replicating your build. I think I heard you adjusted idle slightly, EHA valve a quarter turn and change plug gaps to .28, but did you have to do anything with timing?
@@AutoAfflicted Oh, yes 0.028! Haha. Thanks for your reply. I’m only chasing more power down low as it’s a 300SE I’ll just be cruising. Would you recommend I get a smaller turbo than what you ordered? How is the turbo lag with yours?
Loving the build so far, I plan on doing something similar to my 300ge with a m103. What are you doing about tuning and what type of trans is in the car?
Awesome! I have an 89, W201 2.6L w/4sp automatic. In researching modern engine, transplants, I’ve come across many of these, turbo upgrades. I’ve owned this car for 21 years and maintained it well. It has perfect compression, I’ve done the chain and the valve seals, but that’s about it. It’s such a bulletproof engine, I would love to do, this modification with a 5Speed manual transmission swap, and enjoy. Is there a company that does a full bolt-on kit, exhaust included? I would love to fit that in our cooler behind a DTM/EVO-2 body kit.
I don’t know of anyone with a full bolt on kit. That was the impetus behind this series. There are companies like Turbo Bandits and Kangaroos team, hedgehog racing that all make a bunch of great bolt on pieces for turbo application and offers manual swap kits
The video is very very good still I wold've liked a bit more info on the fine tuning of the ke jetronic from the eha and O2 mixture to see how well it runs! Beside this great video
Thank you🙏🏼 I did detail a little bit of the fuel management tuning at the end of the Dino video. Essentially I turned up the EHa valve 1/4 turn and adjusted the O2 mixture. I also reduce the gap in my spark plugs to .028
I think the power gains and new character of the car is worth it. Also I see consistent 8-9psi under load on the street and have damp conditions 0-60 times of 6sec with 1/4 mile in 14sec so I think the power a little higher that recorded on the dyno @ 7psi . They have a mobile dyno that can be adjusted to add resistance.. I’d like to test on that one @ 8-9psi
This is the link to the exact kit I purchased. The vaccum for the servo brake is still on the intake manifold, or do you get vaccum from other place? Cause i think with turbo , the intake manifold is presurized and will not make vacuum for brakes. Or it is still makes vacuum?
Still makes vacuum, I’ve not messed with any of that aspect - brakes and ABS fully functional.. I don’t brake and boost simultaneously… unless I’m getting ready to gap someone off the line
did you have any issues mounting the turbo drain (sump side) with it being angled down slightly, im doing my m102 and will try it but not sure if oil can back up in it.
I haven’t had any issues - the angle is minimal, certainly a little oil could pool in the hose when the engine isn’t running. But the amount of oil that would sit there is likely minimal… not even an fluid ounce.
Congratulations on your build and video. I just wanted to comment and maybe help other owners by informing them about the risks of turbo charging a Bosch CIS K/E Jetronic system. Without the proper ECU and sensors that come with EFI, you run a massive risk of detonation and all your money and hard work you invested goes to waste when you blow that piston out the sidewall. The only adjustment you have on a K jetronic system is the EHA valve and air flow meter. Not to mention all the things that can break due to its complexity and age...
I wouldn’t call it a massive risk. The EHA valve and air flow meter allow enough adjustment for this basic low boost setup. It’s runs great and produced 270 WHP @ 7 psi.
Smoke is the sealant/metal preservative burning off the downpipe and turbo, dissipated after a bit of driving .. hp gains estimate at 100hp - so about 300hp now from 187… I plan to get some 0-60 times and maybe a dyno session to prove the gains once it’s all dialed
My engine has approximately 200,000 miles on it. The only test I did was to loosen the oil filler cap and see that it didn’t bounce around. That was good enough for me 🤣
Nice! Something I’ve learned recently is that you need to adjust your spark plug gap specific to turbo cars. Standard plug gap is too large and the added air being forced in essentially blows out the spark. This feels like reduced performance mid throttle and increased power when you lift throttle slightly. .032 - .028 gap is recommended for boost under 15 psi .. reducing the gap has made this issue noticeably less. Currently I’m at .032 but plan to go down to .028 as I’m getting a little spark “blow out” it seems
Understood- you can just multiply time x hourly rate of your mechanic … some mechanics will give you a flat rate, some would refuse to install - if you’re just referring to parts cost … about $2500 to 3k
Im trying to get the specs you used for your turbo as im going to replicate but I’m converting the cis to efi. Any info would be awesome. You guys rock
