M104 is a kinda apple to apple comparison to 2JZ. A descendent to the M103 in this C124. Dual cam, variable valve timing, aluminum head and iron body. But M104 has an infamous head gasket issue that 2JZ doesn’t have. Except that those m103/104 are very good engines.

Really cool to see your build workout, I’m working on a simmilar build but I’ve got custom made intake that supports modem efi with fuel rail and Bosch ev12 injectors. Hopefully with my increased fueling abilities I could get some quicker pickup and some better hp numbers (easier tuning because I’m going to use a standalone ecu too)

Awesome vid mate, I have the same model and am In the process of getting the pieces together to blow some wind up it, instead of me asking a million questions, is there a place you get your information on tuning? How to control on boost enrichment?
So my turbo kit came with a manual boost controller and 3 springs .. you can check video # 1 for the parts list and links to everything I’ve bought - I’ve set that up with the 2 port external wastegate to have 8-9psi on the street … on the dyno I only pulled 7 due to lack of load resistance . The only tuning I did to it beyond that, I explained at the end of this video. In the description of this video are links to gapping plugs, adjusting the idle valve and the eha valve. If you have more questions feel free to ask - that what I’m here for 🤛🏽
Hi great work, I’ve finished my install. Very similar to yours, I’ve done some preliminary tuning with the eha, A/F ratio is good on full boost around 12.5-13 but pretty Rich around 10 at crusing, did you have a similar scenario with yours? Thanks
Very, very impressive ! thats otherwise stock right ? Im working on a 2.6 version, but I got the dbilas cam to compensate the displacement difference ;) ya 8psi to keep it safe with CIS please ) dont forget the lack of a knock sensor, you lean out .. its gonna ping btw, are you on the forums ?
@@AutoAfflicted Impressive indeed, these sure are good motors. I love mine, 33yo and runs like its new yep, recall catching that during the video, but figured maybe I would catch you around there )
As a dyno operator, watching them run that car at high 13s to low 14 afr while under boost was absolutely horrible. I'll shut down a run and talk to customer as soon as I hit 13
Soooo .. are you using the "fuel quality " knob to pull timing out ? its just a heap of resistors i always dreamed about putting a boost triggered relay on it and pulling timing just on boost ... a water meth kit i imagine would be another great tool to raise the possibilities of getting up over 10 psi
I increased the fuel pressure at the AHE valve by 1/4 turn and gapped the plugs .028, the adjust the Air fuel mix with the idle adjustment. I believe I can go over 10psi with stock kjet fuel management
@@AutoAfflicted i was talking about ignition timing do you have the knob attached to the ignition module ? i believe there is up to 5 degrees that can be taken out with that witch will be handy for you making boost so early you are at high risk of getting knocky .. ignition timing and knock is much more of issue at 3000 rpm where your little turbo is making plenty of boost .. keep at it great content
My car does not have the fuel quality knob. I found some research that showed Turbo Technics recommend setting S or 1 which retarded the timing 39-43 @ 3200rpm which is standard for premium gas M103. You could def achieve the timing on boost you desire with a stand alone .. thanks for the input and checking it out! Always looking to improve this and spread the knowledge

I did use the original Kjet - watch the end of this episode- I explain the adjustments. Gap Spark plug to .028 gap. Eha - turned up 1/4 turn to increase fuel pressure . Then adjust air / idle valve to get you ideal air fuel mixture, you’ll need some sort of air fuel ratio tool for that
@@AutoAfflicted lucky you. It’s so hard to source a manual gearbox here in Australian. Ive got an 87 300e. Would love to turbo and manual swap her. I’m looking for to see how your project goes. Thanks for documenting the process. It’s worth it’s weight in gold.
