- "Just LOOK at the size of that" Its hard to not just stop and stare when you see whats under the bonnet of this Mercedes 190.
22 year old Alex has created a real sleeper. Unassuming, stock to look at...... You'd barely look twice if you walked past in the street.
The performance is nothing short of hilarious. The car squats like mad, the suspension wants to kill you but have I ever had such a big smile on my face .....NOPE.
The car has been resourcefully put together by Alex on budget but is by no means trash. For example. The car has E36 front shocks, Saab 900 rear shocks its a real Frankenstein of parts.
We speak with Alex the creator of this mental Mercedes, we learn all about how the car came together. Geek out on spec and we take it for a drive.

It's nice that other youngsters see the potential in the old Merc's. I myself own a 190e with m111 2.3 swap (6speed) although I kept the eaton supercharger and got a custom 70mm pulley for it as I haven't got bored of the "helicopter" sound.
They only bit I did not like in this video is at 12:25. Yes the 1.8/2.0/2.3 weren't that fast (even back in the day) but there was also 2.6L straight 6 not to mention the 2.3& 2.5 v16 cosworth and of course EVO1/EVO2 & the mighty DTM version.
If anyone loves those cars as I do then I strongly suggest visiting the mercedes museum in Stuttgart.

I think that section at 12 minutes came out wrong. I knew about the performance versions I guess I meant more his shape version I should have been clearer.

Is your car on your channel? Where did you get the 70mm pulley? You also forgot to mention the AMG and Brabus versions that were even faster than the Evo's with their strait 6's, but weren't allowed to race, because they didn't meet DTM rules. Carlson, Schultz, Brabus and AMG dropped V-8's into the W201 chassis as well in special built vehicles.
Hey, I am thinking about the smaller pulley myself aswell. Do you need a ecu remap to make it work? Or have you just swapped it and ran like that?

Aresk CS:GO is it expensive to maintain? Yes. Is it worth any price? Absolutely. Nothing beats an old benz
Just make sure to get one in good condition, unless you plan on rebuilding the whole thing like this guy. If the previous owners have babied the car, it'll last as long as you probably

Learned driving in a 190E a few years back, their interiors hold up surprisingly well, so they were quality
Good to know. The seats were my only thing weren’t overally supportive for this level of power was sliding everywhere 😂

I've a huge soft spot for 190's, few years back managed to get one of the early 1982 cars, such nice cars to drive even better lowered as the don't roll as much, and a dream to work on, one of the saddest days when I had to let it go to fund another project. Would have another any day, really nice to see them still being loved

Really great to see the build and the enthusiastic owner, a young guy with a ton of talent, well done. Only thing to add is an under bonnet pad to keep the heat from the engine bay glazing your paint on the bonnet.

I have a 2.3 190e 86' Gold with 150K....clean title...no rust or body damage...just small dings.. paid $500.00 for it...Interior is near pristine..The owner of the towing company absolutely hated this car because he could not understand why it kept knocking off so, I rescued it from a towing yard with only minor issues with fuel pump. I have spent 3K in it so far. I plan on fixing all of the minor vacuum leaks and after get all dings out , re paint and lower it a bit. I bought some chrome 17' AMG rims from a wrecking yard all four for under $100 on sale.....crazy deal. i will repaint to original color but with some light metallic flakes. I just picked a silver 1989 Merc 300 CE coupe w/ 83K from my mechanic for a steal. The 300ce is my next project!
I had a 1984 190d 2.2. Naturally aspirated diesel with an auto trans. By far the slowest version of this car and it was still a great vehicle. I will definitely own another 190 and do something similar to this

Thought this would be a good one and it is! The engine in this sounds spot on. Nice big turbo, a bit of lag, lots of chatter. A bit of an old skool vibe from when before turbo cars got super responsive and a bit, well, dull 😂

Such a mad build! It actually reminds me of the car one of my friends has built and still owns. It's a MK1 VW Jetta, with an MK4 Golf PD130 engine to which he has strapped an Audi Q7 turbo onto it. Safe to say it goes like a train. Very similar styling in the sense it's a sleeper. Looking at it you wouldn't know what's underneath

My old nextdoor neighbor had a 190 cosworth and he could really drive and he woke me up one night because he had an alarm going off at his business a few miles away and needed me for back up and we jumped in the car and I was completely blown away by it's performance and handling plus his driving was brilliant.ever since then I've had a real respect for 190's.i like what this guys done to this one...I wish I had it!😉👍

Owner should look at getting a Sportline interior. It will solve the issue with the seats since the Sportline interior has buckets and it looks great too.

I plan to Upgrade it step by step. But first of all manual swap and cooling. Will see where it ends.
The plans are at around 360-400hp cant do to much in switzerland without alot of money because the regulations are so bad here.

My parents also had a 190E before i was born before 17 years but they sold it because it had many issues unfortanately. When i Look on the old Pictures of the car i think Like damn, it was a beautiful car and this feeling wants me to buy a 190E as my first Car and surprise my parents with it and take them on a ride :)

Cor that would be something else. One of the best sounding engines ever.
My new daily audi 100 has a 2.3 inline 5, not quite the quattro turbo but sounds insane for 150hp
Porsche 944 2.3 swap😏
There is an oem inline 5 turbo diesel which can handle much power. Sound great, too!
Just buy an 190d 2.5 and om605 swap it, you can run on over 450hp on the stock engine😅 (only a new manifold, a bigger fuelpump and a bigger intercooler)
