@@fcpeuro-media im not sure how they did it in the original 190E DTM, but back then often simply had tubes that fed the air from driving into the cabin (without using an AC) so they safed weight but still got fresh air. Maybe thats an option if its accurate to the original car.
This is the type of frenkenstein build I really like to build. E36 steering rack ?!. Brilliant. No PS means go-cart type steering feel plus the fatigue that comes with it. DTM style. Exhaust note sounds beautiful. Great note under high rev and loud enough for a race car...What a build, truely one of a kind. Vibrations ?. Heck, needed for a race car to keep your heart rate above 120...thats for track and racing....
Great build guys! Definitely the sickest Benz stateside! Definitely get some legit limit straps. I know in my Honda days it used too kill the rack running them dry so we add fluid into it and loop the lines. But you could probably just grease it if you take it apart?
I had all the same steering geometry hurdles with my k24 e36. The height was always oem so bump steer stayed in check. After moving my rack so far forward the Akerman issue is what I fought all last year. Glad to see you’ve got ways to alter both and get them dialed! 🤙🏻
You should move that turbo and put throttle bodies... everything inside is forged excellent for that combination.. here in europe is common to move turbo from cosworth 2.0
Unless the E36 steering rack is different from other power steering racks, you need to disassemble the pinion and weld some parts together to eliminate the play that’s present in all of them.
Throw the cayman in a pond and build more 190E's for the money, a M156 one and LS3 one and have races with all of them. I love how you use existing parts (CLK55 sway bar) not caring about the brand, just like early hotrodders
Would be more authentic with a bored out F22C1 (maybe 2.7 L), J's Racing made an amazing one that would almost exactly match the power output (~340hp) of the original Cosworth motor, and preserve the original, high revving NA feel of the car. Would probably sound nearly identical as well.
I would love to know why you are limiting droop travel, in Motorsport we are always trying to keep the tyre in contact with the track and use all the travel available, genuinely not sure why you would put limiting straps on a track car unless it’s a compromise to keep geometry in check with all the factory road car parts used. We use them in off road to stop the suspension from extending to the point where it is hanging on the suspension components leading to damage internally. Very cool build and hard to fault it anywhere else really. Thanks for sharing the process.
hate to be that guy but if your moving the steering rack forward and rearwards your really adjusting akerman. adjusting it up or down would be your bumpsteer.
I'm more connected to cars racing around a circle in a racing track. I can appreciate, respect ¼ mile drag racing culture, its not for me. Touring Cars, Rally WRC/Gp A/N, Le Mans Sports Cars are always part of my car build
I like how you guys post videos of these custom built casr but offer no support for anybody trying to do the same….i got w208 drift car and have reached out to you guys several times trying to get parts to work on my drift car and keep, getting told that I can’t be helped….was even told after being persistent and speaking to a team leader that they would help and reach back out and it’s been literally 6 months…..so maybe you can talk with your team and have them more open to customers doing the same things you guys are instead of making me feel stupid and telling me there no support for that
Sorry to hear the CLVannoy - what sort of support were you looking for specifically? If you are looking for insights on Parts/Build specific you can reach out to our Mercedes expert Danny.Kruger@fcpeuro.com , or if specific to this build reach out to nate.vincent@fcpeuro.com .
I was needing a longer tie rod and was trying to find one that would Work on the w208 but give me like an extra inch on each side…..I would still like to find somthing that would work (maybe from a e class ect.) as right now I don’t feel good about thread engagement….thank you for responding and your willingness to see what’s going on love your guys builds and I’ve learned allot watching your videos
I feel you all are "actually" overusing that word. When you keep saying actually. It really doesn't add any more legitimacy to your statement. I think all your viewers accept what you are expressing. Trying to over legitimize your statements makes everything else you say a falsehood. Because you didn't say it is, "actually" something. Then it is a falsehood. "The exhaust is, "actually", connected to the heads." I think we believe you if you said this. "The exhaust is connected to the heads." There isn't any more legitimacy inferred by using "actually" in the first sentence.
The weather getting warmer I see. Still no AC, you gonna remember me.
Its not the lack of AC that makes driving this thing warm, its the arm workout from no powersteering that gets the beads of sweat rolling.
@@fcpeuro-media Get a Fanatec DD1 dude.

eh I do bkk with no ac
That fact that you guys crammed the M133 into the 190e and made it work is so awesome.
The best creation...
What I mean: take a basic car, not a legend, and create your own legend!
Thats why the shirts we made say "Legends aren't born, they're built!"
@@fcpeuro-media yes indeed.
Glad to hear the build got some Volvo parts on it. Was super cool seeing the car at Race Service
The Volvo hero himself!!! Loved every episode, including the one from last night. Looking forward to the Japanese project 😉
We had to bring it back to our Volvo roots from when FCP Euro began somehow! Glad you got to see it in person!

Glad you approve - we really were aiming to make this car as close a nod to the true Golden Era of DTM as possible
Awesome. That had me worried in the last episode. Glad you spoke to it in the last episode and got it sorted. This is an great series.
Glad you guys worked out the smoke issue from the CCV, thankfully it wasnt anything intrinsically wrong with the engine!
...and still wish this was a plain color, no vinyl creation
@@maverickphantom005why? it looks like an 80s DTM car. I have seen an e30 with the TicTac mints vinyl
Actually saw a real Evo at a car show in Phoenix at the BJ Auction. As much as I love the M3, the DTM looks of the Cossie is amazing.
If it is a36 steel maybe consider adding some gusset plates on the trans mount, it looks like its 1/8 or 3/16 which bends pretty easily.
This build is beyond beautiful. Really love the amount of craftsmanship putted in there! Greets and Love from Germany!
Love back to the Motherland - we hope to bring the car there this year :-)
Great video guys! Kudos to the team!🤘👍😎😊

this car reminds me of gran turismo 1 and 2 on Playstation DAYS!
9:54 Just remember to Marine Plywood and not regular Plywood.
And now it's time for a DTM E30 build.
Can a w204 7G Tronic Plus transmission work instead of the SLK manual transmission?
if you put a assisted steering rack and dont make it assisted didnt it's harder to turn then just a non assisted steering rack ?
You gotta go ITBs man!
does it run the stock m133 ecu? am i right in noticing a different limiter style then stock?
Next , full custom cnc straight cut gear set into the box or H pattern dogbox
What kind of turbo do you guys have on there?
Noice! So where'd you learn that shifter would work? 😉
Did you buy the 190e from a guy that had a lancia? I bought a 924 turbo from him a few years ago
White interior to be able to noticed cracks on the metal easier
How much in parts is spent so far on the build?
The smaller wheels are so much better!

No sway bar? that would take care of droop
First 5 seconds were hilarious
Is it me or the suspension appears very soft with all the body roll that i see going around the track?
nice to see the vw water resevoir... where i am from...a vw water resevoir adds instant 20hp to any engine swop😂😂
So if I’m correct the engine is from A45 AMG. I’m I correct??
Yes, the m133 version
Power steering is a performance mod! Put in a Volvo electro-hydraulic unit!
