  • A couple of weeks ago i asked you guys in temporary video what you wanted me to film more of on Thors Mercedes 190e.
    Well, I've summarized all your questions and together Thor and I did our best to answer everything.
    In this almost 50 minutes long video you will learn what it takes to build a 700 whp strong Mercedes 190e with a turboconverted v8. We will discuss engines, reinforcement on drivetrain and chassi, suspension, unconventional engine cooling, and much more.
    We will also discuss what Thor would have done differently if he started the project from scratch today.
    Hopefully this will save you both time and money if you plan on building something similar yourself in the future.
    Also:
    If you live in southwest of Sweden and have an interesting car yourself that you want to make a similar video of.
    Contact me here or by DM on Instagram at Dyno Channel.
    In the video i mention another clip where i discuss engine swaps and engine mounts.
    You'll find that here:
    • HOW TO ENGINE SWAP ANY...
    Looking forward to showing you guys more of the Scandinavian car culture.
    Cheers!

    M119.960 is one of the best versions, early 500 Mercedes models e.g. ones with the last of the cis injected versions. 5 litres, closed deck, though these have the dual distributor setups and being cis doesn't come with fuel rails etc, but that stuff is easily swapped with later cop and port injection parts.

    Fantastic video and information. I am a big fan of the m119. I have a 500E and where fitting a manual M119 to a w201. The 500E is 6 litres. Personal, I would stick with the M119 in your project. I think the rear sump and move engine back a little more. Unfortunately I don’t think a standard sump is available. The w140 sump is more central, which won’t help you. I would like to get my sump behind the front crossmember?

    It was very funny to watch with a translator. Very interesting, I really liked the idea of an inverted rear coilovers. The rear suspension turned out to be much simpler than I thought. From the front, too, everything is easy, but I think that I will not move the front rack further, because our fellow policemen immediately suspect something is wrong. My engine will not be powerful at the beginning of about 200 horsepower, but it will be enough for my purposes. As soon as I collect everything (it will be quite a long time) I would like to visit you, but I think it's almost impossible (practically). Thank you very much for making this issue, I will continue to watch you)ai

      They are from the swedish autoparts store "Biltema" basicalla just cheap 3" full flow round mufflers. The nice snappy sound is primarily due to the equal lengt exaust maifolds and the light weith flywheel

    I'm curious, did you ever run the car with no hood to see if it was trapped air causing the over heating? I don't see a good fan shroud and there is no hood vent. I have a c107 chassis drift car and I'm thinking about going to a n119 at some point. I can tell you with some mods the dual a arm front end works very well. I still have a steering box and pretty good angle with 50mm extended arms.

    • @Webrexxx
      @Webrexxx Год назад

      The hood is open all along window. So the air flow should be very good. And it wasn't a problem with the straight 6 BMW engine

    • @dynochannel
      @dynochannel  Год назад +1

      Good question. As Thor already answered the hood is open a bit in the back for better airflow. Similar to what is done on the trunk lid. 👍

      @@Webrexxx did you ever look at drive pressure in the exhaust manifold? Maybe you are just pushing too much through the stock manifolds over 700hp? Timing too aggressive? I'm also curious if you went in and checked/opened up ring gap before throwing high boost at it?

    Nice build ! Why not build the oilpan like a fuel cell, ore walls that keep the Oil from flowing back during G forces, preventing to destroy engine... Just a suggestion...

    • @Webrexxx
      @Webrexxx Месяц назад

      Good suggestion, but the problem is that during very long lateral GeForces like in drifting, the oil stays in the heads. This is a common issue for V engines, any more than 1h lateral force and all the oil stays in one head (It can even climb upp there from the oilpan)
      I think this coupled with the pan being in the front, it's just a matter of time before the pump start sucking air, and the bearings will get damaged over time

      Fram är de samma grejer, bak har 2.6an i princip en W124 diff och drivaxlar. 2.0ans bakaxel håller inte. De gjorde knappt 2.6amn heller. Har som sagt dödat säker 10 hardyskivor och 3 diffar.
