- Hi!
Today we are mounting a new modern ECU (MaxxECU) on a Porsche 944 Turbo from the 80´s.
I'm putting some additional notes further down in this description. Make sure to read it if you plan to do this conversion on your car.
You can buy the Plug and Play adapter kit we are using in this video in my webshop:
www.drivestore.se
Since Thor (Engdahl Motorsport) and I developed it together, you can also find it at his webshop.
www.ems-shop.se
Tools needed:
Basic tools like screwdrivers, drill, wrenchers etc.
Laptop with internet connection.
Welding machine (for the new lambda placement)
Drill tap 1/8 NPT.
If you plan to drill into the intake without removing it, make sure use air compressor as described in the video. Otherwise remove a pressure pipe between intake and intercooler and drill into it at your workbench. Make sure to clean if from debris before mounting it back into the car.
Please note that this adapter kit ONLY works with MaxxECU and ONLY on Porsche 944 Turbo.
At www.drivestore.se I made it simple to buy the same version of MaxxECU, injectors, wideband lambda sensor etc. as the Porsche in the video. If you want the same kit choose the parts that is marked "recommended" here:
www.drivestore...
Best Regards,
Erik

I really like your wheels, color combo is great😎
Great job! 👍
Thank you 😊
Ive been trying to look for ways to modify my 84 N/A but i can find almost nothing, granted ive only been searching for a month or 2 but its hard
@@z3r0128 turbo and modern ECU is the way to go if you want power.
If you want to keep it N/A a new ECU might still be good to get it to run better all through the rev range.
Great stuff! What have to be done to be able to go E85?
@@robertspeljak injectors and a tune 😊
Can this be done for 83 944 2.5 l
Hi, sorry for my late reply.
We mounted this in a 944 NA last week. Worked great.
Reach out to me on erik@drivestore.se and we can take the discussion from there.
can the maxx basic run wasted spark for a v8 or is it specific firmware for a 4 cyl?
The most basic version (Mini) can run 8 cyl waste spark. Usually our customers go by the "Street" or "Race" version to get built in wideband, and it handles 12 cyl if you go by waste spark. 👍
Does the factory DME connector not present any limitations compared to a more modern connector without an adapter?
Hi Joe!
We haven't see any limitations with this setup. Used it on 100+ Porsches and Volvos now, both on street cars and in motorsport.
Since the new ECU is way more advanced we can adjust parameters to improve both performance, cold start and get cleaner exhaust gases 👍
@@dynochannel some more questions. Why no option for Lambda 4.9 in your configurator? I also need a full wiring harness but I’m not sure what custom connections to request. Can you provide guidance on what to get in order to allow for future options? Do you have these ready to ship out or is there a wait time?
@@944terbo I'm answering here too if someone else wonders the same thing. (I answered Joe by DM).
1. MaxxECU recommends using Lambda 4.2. That's why we chose that for our standard harness. The harness can be modified to fit 4.9 if customer wants.
2. The harness is built to fit most customers that want modern performance in their classic car without cutting into standard wiring. You can add more tuning parts and functions later on if needed.
We have a few of these kits ready to ship within a week.
I’m guessing this new ecu will work on a turbo S…where is this new ecu available and can it be shipped to the USA?
Hi, yes it fits.
You can find adapter wiring and ecu on drivestore.se.
Do you have one for the 968???
Hi!
Not sure if it is the same ECU in them. Send me some pictures of your ECUs at erik@drivestore.se. We can probably develop a similar kit for you.
@@dynochannel I would be interested in a kit for a 968 as well. They use the same 28 pin Bosch Motronic DME, just without the KLR of course.
is bigger injectors all you need to go E85?
@@robertspeljak injectors and a tune 👍
What kind of power increase on stock turbo can I expect?
@@robertspeljak we are running stock turbo on this car.~300whp.
@@dynochannel gasolin E95 or ethanol E85?
@@robertspeljak e85. Any time you see a swedish car thats running ethanol it is most Likely e85. We have that at the gas stations here 👍
