I just found you a couple of days ago. Hands down the best instruction I've ever seen online for the average golfer! Everybody, myself included, tries to bomb it like John Daly. Guess what? The results are just as you describe. Took some time away from the game for a few years, now at 74 years old, I can't break 100 to save my life! Can't wait to try some of your ideas. They make so much sense!

When I first started playing golf,I bought a set of irons from a friend, and didn't bother with woods in case golf was a 5 minute wonder.I got down to a 15 hcp.and decided to treat myself to some woods.Strangely my scores didn't improve,in fact often they were higher ! I got fed up looking for my ball, and walking back to the tee to play another ball.
I frequently notice that even if you make the fairway, and have the longest drive, you can walk off the green with a higher score than the "steady Eddie" who plays his second shot first, and keeps his ball out of trouble.

I'm not sure about California. But in my state, if you hit a house that is on the course with your ball, you as a golfer are not responsible for any damages. As long as you were doing something within reason. If you tee off with a driver on a par 4 and hit a house because the ball sliced? Not your problem. Now, if you have 100 yards into a freen and hit a driver, then you can be held liable. Because you did something knowing it was not a normal shot or play of action. I do not hold back because there are houses. Even the Tour Pros slice and hook and pull. If you want your house on a golf course, you know the risk associated with it.

Jimmy, still love the unediting! I froze the video and saw why you it that ball to the right. You forgot one of your tips of starting with the end of the club halfway on the ball so you don’t hit the heel when our natural swing moves the club head out. You started with club head center almost with the center of the ball, hence you hitting the heel of the club and the ball went right. You are right (that’s golf!)

One consequence of your method follows. We are in winter mode. Only our lower 9 open. I was the only one playing today. I played around twice. I played two balls on every hole. Here is the consequence of watching your golf. Virtually on every drive, every fairway shot, every pitch or Chip, my two balls were within 10 yards of each other. Actually, in most cases they were within 5 yards of each other. I’m working hard to have fewer friends in my jacuzzi! What I mean, I’m working hard at updating to a 4 person jacuzzi from a 6 person. Mostly pars, several bogies, last hole my double bogie. One was good, the other no so good. I fixed it and both were in the 6 person jacuzzi.
Now I just need to get the muscle memory to make this my golf. Oh, over 200 fairways this spring and I’m playing the same two balls.
I am also playing every other club. One day, W, 8, 6, 4, D 10.5, 5W 7H, P. Next day U, 9, 7, 5, D9, 3W, 5H, P. It doesn’t seem to make a difference in score, just different power to match the distance. It’s been great training. Usually I meet up with better golfers ( lower handicap) and I’m running par with them even though their younger limbs hit 20% per club further.

Swatting a 9 iron (or any iron for that matter)160 yards within 20 feet to the pin is a pretty tall order for most of us, Jimmy. I think that may be where your skill level is higher than the average Joe's like me. I used to have a good game until I pretty much stopped playing for 30 years.I was an 11 handicap in high school and I'm trying to get my game back. I still agree with your course strategy, though. It makes sense.

I hit 5-wood off the tight holes (ask the guys I play with)
I hit 33% of fairways with my Driver
    … I hit 50% fairways with my 5-wood
“In play” … I’ll take it
    But …
If one of my friends tees off with driver first AND hits the fairway … can you still hit an iron? … a hybrid? … a 5-wood?
    Egos get in the way.
Do you go back to the bag and grab the Driver? It’s tough to stay humble (and play short) 😔
Plus, do you really want to hit a wood or long iron into the green when your buddies are hitting short irons in? 🤷🏼‍♂️
What’s the percentage of hitting the green with a long iron vs a wedge? 🤔
Remember what the King, Arnold Palmer once said,
““Golf is a game of inches. … The most important are the six inches between your ears.”
    Good stuff (again) 👊🏻

Go 2 pars out of 4 par 3's and that's a only +2 with a 12 holes to play. Out of these 8, 4 are shorter par 4, so call that 3 pars out of f. Now your +3 with 4 long par 4's left. Get 1 par out of those, and you are +6 for the round.
