    Funnily enough in the long drive swing (in my case) it goes high to low to high again. The initial high loads up the peak power. Think of it as the climb of a rollercoaster to a quick drop and rise again.

    Only reason golfers are poor at chipping is defo lack of practice ! We are all at the Range blasting the Driver into the 5th dimension ! Stay home in your back garden lawn and start chipping onto a target - lie an iron on the ground set up a pretend hole and practice - you will improve ! No question ! Use an old wedge but premium balls - that does matter IMHO ! I have improved a lot I needed to believe me ! 69* Wedge too much for me but would love to try one 😂 ! Good luck folks

    I absolutely love your simple swing lessons along with your approach to the game. I am one of those golfers who steps up to the ball and has no idea whether it’s going to go right or left / 10 ft or 200 yards. I went out yesterday and hit PW and my 7i and I finally felt the ball launch without putting so much effort into it. I have been struggling for months and months with golfers elbow (damage from over swinging). If I can swing easy like you teach and get that easy peasy launch off the center of the face I’m sure my elbow will finally have a chance at healing and my game will break the 100’s. Thank you!!!!

    Par 3’s can be tough but I don’t think it pays to get mental over it. Like hitting over water. If you pull out a water ball out of your bag, what are you telling yourself? Im going to hit it in the water so I don’t want to use a good ball. In your videos, you have been able to get up and down from off the green most of the time, even made a “sandy”. Excellent video, so simple. So much better than most lessons where they give you half a dozen things to remember. Thanks.

    When you are at top try side-bending just enough to reverse the direction your hands are being pulled by the club. It occurs in the lower lumbar spine and can actually be done at any point in the backswing - 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, Full - to reverse the direction your hands are going independent of the shoulder turn. The magic in the physics of that is went the inertia of the mass is going up --> and you side-bend to pull rotate the hands down and forward ( the shaft of the club bends to store the kinetic energy acceleration whipping the club head up around the hands creates EXPONENTIALLY. On the way down to keep the shaft bent ( and loaded you need to keep the hands pulling against the inertia in the club head. Near the top of a full swing that is easy and you feel it in your hand if you side bend just enough move hands down and inch or so to arrest the movement of the club upward - what Harvey Penick dubbed the ‘the magic move’ but not really explaining why it works - Newton’s Laws. But when you pull down if the inertia of the club head up decreases to the point its velocity matches that of the shoulder turn than is pulling the hands around the feet that bend storing kinetic energy ( comes out of the shaft \ when hands are near the middle of the rib cage, what is called ‘casting’ in golf instruction parlance. How to great ball strikers maintain that loading of the shaft ( deep into their backswings so it will release with ‘twang’ ( forward into the ball? PROGRESSIVELY increase the amount of of side-bend and as the club shaft comes back horizontal and able whip like a banshee around the hands again start SLOWLY lifting the back foot to keep the hips,shoulder and lead arm mass being pulled down and forward by momentum and GRAVITY moving around the feet. How much should you side-bend and how fast should the foot be lifted? Here the technique of letting the index finger loop around the side of the shaft becomes like the ‘canary in the coal mine’ to provide feedback on whether the shaft is loaded and bent back ( or is releasing | and because club head is out accelerating the hands and bending forward ( before hitting the ball due to not enough side bend and hip-shoulder rotation. Before impact it should be mostly side bend to speed up the hands and pull the club head down the target line then after impact when side bend has maxed out the back foot needs to lift up straight heel first, and only come up on toe like a ballet dancer on point in the finish because if timing is off lifting the foot too soon will turn the nice 2-3 yard draw ball flight good ball strikers have into a ‘pull-hook’ trip into the left rough or worse. It is side bending that inhibits shoulder from turning and creating the ‘over the top’ outside-in path and allows the club the time to swing horizontal after impact and pull the trail arm straight change the axis of rotation from lead to trail shoulder something noobs seldom experience because noobs don’t understand consciously the cause and effect role side-bend done ideally contributes keeping the shaft loaded until impact and maintaining balance in the finish because of the way it keeps upper body mass <-- pulled down by GRAVITY to counter the force vector --> trying to pull the body forward and left of target line in the finish. Balance is what makes ball striking consistent. Pros do it better than recreational golfer why they can generate club head speeds they do and still hit accurate shots.

    • @ironsideeve2955
      @ironsideeve2955 2 дня назад

      I wasn't aware of kinetic energy acceleration till now

    • @TeddyCavachon
      @TeddyCavachon 2 дня назад

      @ The physics are counter intuitive. The formula for striking force (hammer to nail or club head to ball or bullets) is F=1/2(Mass x Velocity^2) so as club head speed increases linearly the kinetic energy in create exponentially. That is why the faster take the club back wide and force it react by whipping the club head up around the hands the more effortlessly and automatic becomes IF the lead arm is pinned and acts like a force multiply levered across the the chest - which multiplies the force - will pull shoulder past hip until twisted tight EFFORTLESSLY. In the downswing the same whipping around the hands multiplies the kinetic energy and striking force, but there is only so much the ball can absorb per USGA robot testing why more than 80% effort has more risk of wider dispersion that reward of more distance. I was in AP Physics classes instead of the golf team in high school 😂

    • @ironsideeve2955
      @ironsideeve2955 2 дня назад

      @ what do you mean by exponential?

    • @TeddyCavachon
      @TeddyCavachon 2 дня назад

      @ A 2x increase in velocity produces a 2^2 = 4x increase in kinetic energy and a 4x increase in velocity produces a 4^2 =16x increase. It’s why as you swing the club back in the take away force pulling the lead arm straight increases rapidly. This also applies to body mass and mass in the arms. Gravity accelerates mass at 32ft/sec every second. If you hold a club overhead and dead drop, it will take about second to reach the ground and be going 32ft / sec which is 21.81818 mph that’s how fast the mass of the leg arm just dead dropping the top of backswing accelerates with no shoulder turn. There are points in swing acceleration of the club head will cause a loss of balance by pulling forward and back to the target or pulling the body on the toes at impact. Where is least likely to cause a loss of balance is from the point the hands drop over the back leg until the pass the ball. Arms and club head are accelerating between the feet there which prevent any loss of balance 😄

      Damn -you are a smart mo fo ! It’s funny because a guy like Freddy Couples (in particular) has obviously no idea how he does what he does but I think he would tell you that little pause at the top and the side bend has something to do with it..

    Main problem with low and slow is how it can influence the disconnect of the triangle made with your arms and chest……It also influences swaying. Once the disconnect happens, you have no chance of hitting the ball flush. I’m a high single digit 57 yo. I attest the slower motion takeaway helps a proper backswing but the low takeaway must go! BTW-love your videos!
