Jimmy, started playing golf again almost 2 yrs ago, after 20 year hiatus. I live in West Palm Beach and have been playing weekly with a buddy of mine. We've been trying to break 90 for awhile. Around Christmas I found your videos, and bought into the smooth jazz thing, the jacuzzi putting theory, and your course management on each hole. So much so, that everytime we hit a good shot what follows is "Thank you Jimmy Tropicana!!!!!" This week, believe it or not we BOTH shot 88 for the first time.
Thanks for everything and hope to play Tropicana Golf Course some day!!

Jimmy T.!!! Played 14 of 18 holes at THE GLEN ELLYN VILLAGE LINKS last Saturday. Shorts, windbreaker... ie TOTALLY PREPARED for the 37° temp my car read as I left my hometown Chicago Suburbs Municipal.
I can't recall how many times I thought about your video WATCH THIS BEFORE YOUR NEXT ROUND. I ended up basically playing double bogey golf, the afternoon after a 2 inch rain. My sump pump was going off as I left the house.
Greens were like a 4 Stemp ( if possible) and every divot was a cup of mud, so I IMMEDIATELY began to remember your video. ⛳
I CHUNKED way too many shots but I was swinging SMOOTHLY & didn't lose a ball. 😉

Jimmy, I live in Ohio, I’ve been hitting the range a ton, it’s still cold, only played a few times this year. My number one swing thought has been “wave to the camera” I swear that gets my wrist in perfect position . I have been hitting draws, sometimes more draw than I want so I have to adjust. But that one swing thought has helped me so much. That swing thought gets my wrists and hands in the perfect position, knuckles down, palm up, and I’m left handed. So I just switch it all around. I have sliced forever. On top of @tomsaguto saying to keep my “left elbow connected” since I’m left handed to my body and your tip to “wave “ on the backswing. My golf swing is sooo much better. I hit about 300 balls today and most were very solid and went in the direction I wanted.

Cold, windy, no warm up. I played terrible. Still ended up 7 over with two double bogeys. Not bad, not bad at all. Miller time! You convinced me I’m not 17 any longer. Now I play like I’m 47 and I’m actually 77. Smoothly is my only thought.

Super video which brought a thought to mind, about "not thinking". Jerry Kelly in an interview once said about his swing is he never thinks about it. He said he swings the golf club the same way he shoots a basket ball. You know what to do. Just do it. The other thought I had, is telling many to not think, is like after a 2 week chest cold you finally go to a doctor. After his examination, he tells you "just stop coughing and you will feel a lot better". It's like looking at a word on a piece of paper and telling one not to read it. How depressing. But the challenge to achieve keeps us going.

I’m in Utah and have hit lots of range balls all winter. I just went out Thursday and told myself I was just going to swing easy back and through smooth swing. I was the most consistent and had so much fun everything was working. I played my best ever scored 76 on par 72. I think your tips have really helped me. Thanks I will continue watching.

If you aerate the greens and mix sand, ferterlizer and seed. Now air and water can get to the roots and lessens the
compaction made by golfers and mowing every day. This needs to be done to the fairways and it depends on
what area you live in. A lot of courses will do this the first week in April and September. Our muni course has
not aerated the fairways for ten years and 50% of the fairways are dead.

We've had the reverse in NSW Australia. Bastard hot and humid, where you lose your weight in sweat on a quick 9 hole game. I went for a game the other day, thinking "ah yes, it's forecast 22 degrees C, and cloudy. Lovely" ... First hole, the clouds cleared and the sun came out, and it was bastard hot, again.

Curly: I try to think but nothing happens 😂. Same here, I used to be so pissed when they aerated the greens at Sunset Hills CC when I was younger. I have a degree in turfgrass mgmt. and have worked at 6 different golf courses, once as a Supt. but mostly as a mechanic. I remember a study from a big University turf program that claimed there is no long term benefit to aerification. I think that is true in many cases, but USGA spec greens need it for keeping them smooth and pure. Here in Iowa Superintendents do it because it's a thing that's expected, but in many cases cause layering on these native soil/clay greens. Layering is not a healthy condition for a green.

Fresh air, exercise, fairway drinks, meals before or after round, time with family and or friends, 1 great shot every so often or breaking a best score, winning skins, finding balls, halfway house sausages, suntanned or soaked and wet, hot and sweaty or heated vest, winning prizes in tourneys and scrambles, yeah, lots of reasons to play this game of golf even if you can’t play and if you can’t until you learn just tee the ball up on every shot and have fun.

So...if hitting a 4 iron is just a matter of making a simple swing, why can't you do the same basic thing with a 3 wood? I'm not saying try and hit a 3w 300 yds, or even 250. But just taking a 3w and making a smooth, simple swing...? I mean, I hit my 3w and 5w as straight or straighter than my irons...

    • @TropicanaEntertainment
      @TropicanaEntertainment  10 месяцев назад +1

because hitting a 3W and a 4i are not the same. The swing is the same but the club feel is totally diff.

    “Don’t swing too hard!”
… easy to say, tough to do 🙄
Ok with short irons and wedges, but with longer clubs I can’t STOP swinging out of my shoes (trying to get the most yardage out of my clubs)
So, how do you NOT swing too hard? 🤷🏼‍♂️
