Moving Shop / Shop Tour / French cleat builds and more!

- Moving your shop stinks, but using French cleats makes it a lot easier to set up quickly and make changes. Here is a not-particularly-brief look at how I set up my new (extremely old, slightly dangerous) garage, and I answer some questions I've received on my French cleat tool wall, my drill-press table, my folding assembly table, my sheet-good storage and more. At the end we'll even whip up a simple "F" clamp rack that holds a lot of clamps in a small space. I hope touring my shop gives you some ideas or inspiration for your own. Now let's get to building!
Thank you for watching, and make sure to visit Shop Nation for all your shop needs! www.shop-natio...

The elephant in the room (because I know I will rightly get comments on this): The reason I didn't paint first (or after) is because in my head this space is temporary and I'm going to tear it down and put up a new garage. However, in retrospect, I probably should have painted it anyway. Making your space look as good as possible really does make it more enjoyable to work in, so lesson learned. When I finally put up a new garage it will be all kinds of clean and painted. :)
Best. Day. Ever seeing this pop into my youtube subscription feed! Welcome back Jordan!
Thanks man! From my bench build you and Bo are definitely the coolest story I got out of that. I love it
Welcome back, sir. Damn glad to have ya
Glad to be back, in no small part thanks to you. I promise that if you slip on your shiny epoxy floor and comically fall into your table saw then your planer and wind up in your well-designed dust collection, that I will rip off as many of your designs as possible. It's the least I can do.
My refusal to unsubscribe from quiet channels has been justified! Hooray!
Digital hoarding for the win!
Saw this in my feed... Wait... Is that the octopus sticker work bench guy?!? He's back!
Octopus never says die!
Jordan, I love your stuff. And thanks to Mr. Shop Nation for uniting us. You have officially received my 5th notification bell. keep going with the cool stuff.
Thanks William, that’s really nice of you to say! I’ve got more stuff in the works, the trick is finding the time. But it will happen!
so glad to have ya making videos again bud! workbench i built is still going strong thanks to you!
So happy to hear that! Thanks DJ!
And he’s back!!!! Keep em coming!
This video is a true delight. Having shared a bed with the man, I can say that these videos capture not only his wonderful sense of humour, but his joie de vivre as well. I like being able to laugh AND learn.
Ah, times were simpler back then. When a man could throw up next to another man and barely be judged except by all those that were at the wedding and those that saw me on the drive home. "With great times comes great shame" I think is how it goes.
Immediate watch - glad to see you putting more stuff out. I really like this “start from scratch” style video and channel - very relate-able
Thank you! Turns out starting from scratch happens to a lot of us, sometimes more than once. :)
I would love to see you and Drew of Fisher's Shop team up. I relate to both your skill level and humor level.
Dude, LOVE Fisher's Shop. My brother-in-law actually lives near him and got to check his place out. Said he was as cool as you'd think.
So glad you're back! and equally glad you didn't get purged off of my list... after my doubletake I just sat back and enjoyed your video... Does this mean there will be even more content coming? Yay, looking forward to it...
Thanks Marc! There will be more content, just not on the kind of regular basis that would actually grow a channel. :)
YAY…
Good to have you back man…👍😜
Thanks Fergie, good to be back
Great to see you making new videos, Jordan. Thanks for sharing setting up your new/temporary shop. I will be keeping an eye out for future content.
Thank you so much, glad someone was still here to care. :)
Yayyyyyyyy glad your back on stage!!!!
Thanks Samuel, I dig the enthusiasm!
Great work! Happy to see you're back at it.
Oh you! Thanks for watching, you're a nice lady
Just came across this channel. I really enjoy your videos. I particularly like your humorous presentation style. Hope to see new content!
Thanks Farny, I really appreciate it
HILARIOUS and informative! Keep the content coming!
Thanks Erika! Doing what I can!
The Jumanji quote first thing roped me right in lol. I'm so glad you posted this video. Funny and informative is exactly my kind of video, really great work again my friend.
Thanks J-sizzler, happy you liked it
Also, welcome back! I was so excited to see you added a video that I immediately sat down to watch.
Thanks man!
Windex will take that black dry erase off.
Welcome back!
Hot tip! I'm gonna try that. Thanks!
Great to have you back on The RUclipss sir!
Great to be back!
Finally - I hope there will be more movies
More movies will happen. :)
Missed ya, welcome back
Great to be back, thank you sir
If you sand surface especially since you painted it it be smoother afterwards
Yeah, unfortunately a lot of the walls wouldn't even handle sanding without completely crumbling. It's just gross.
Great video. This might not be true with dry erase paint, but sometimes more dry erase marker and then immediate wipe off takes the residue off of old/stubborn dry erase pen marks.
Nice David, thanks for the tip, I will definitely try that. There was such a.. ahem..'marked' difference with the black marker that I tossed it immediately. But I'll see if that helps with the others
I've been wanting to see that drill press shelf since I spotted it on the wall in the Octopus videos. I thought it was a set up so it could mount on the side of your bench, but I can see why you might want it to be stationary. I have a similar one, and it's not light.
Yeah, I think they're just too heavy to move around. I made it in my old shop to store my planer under, and in this one I've just got a scrap bin. Most of the time a dedicated cabinet makes more sense, but in some cases you might want it wall-mounted, and this is one way to do it.
luv it
And I love you! Sorry, luv you.
Sin duda, una buena mano de pintura resaltaría tu buen trabajo.
Tan cierta tan cierta
"Hey, nice Rack!"
I thought you'd never notice. *blushing*
How do you manage to keep your garage/shop free of kids toys, bicycles, etc?
I find an angle grinder and a rubbish bin works a treat
If I could post a picture in the comments I would show you how my sheetgoods are currently hemmed in by no less than 6 bikes (there are 5 of us in my family, I don't even understand how this is possible).
But don't forget to repaint
I would have painted it first.
I should have called you to help, it might have made the difference.
I wondered what happened to you!
I fell asleep for a year but I'm back and stronger than ever! No, wait. I'm back and not as tired! No, that's not quite true. I'm back!
It drives me crazy that he didn't paint the walls first. What ever you do now will look grungy.
I grew up in the grunge era, and can still rock some flannels when the need arises. Also, those walls are literally flaking apart, and it's not as simple as just painting over them. But yes, it would look better if they were, no doubt.
