    Ha, I love that you so bravely ventured into this macro deep dive. I also have been integrating keyboard maestro, stream deck, Lemur and more recently Soundflow, which is Pro Tools based. I share your view that doing work creating these types of macros ultimately reduces friction when in the creative process. It's a different mind state which ultimately can become its own obsession, but super fun regardless. Cheers!

    • @BrianRivlin
      @BrianRivlin  4 года назад

      Very well put, my friend!
      Although sometimes it’s a slippery slope towards predictability. If you know exactly what you want and how to achieve it, you’re also eliminating “happy accidents” along the way. So I do like to leave just a little wiggle room for software interaction. ;)
      As far as SoundFlow, I tried it. It definitely has potential but (especially if you know how to code), I’m just not willing to pay a subscription for my macros.
      Thanks for the comment! 😊🙏🏻

    Brian, I've been reading bad reviews that Lemur is not getting support and is functional on iPad. I see this video is from 2019. Are you still using this setup and if so, what are your workarounds. It's super intriguing in your video. I just don't want to go down that road if the apps mentions are going to be a nightmare. Would love your feedback.

      @@BrianRivlin I've briefly reviewed it! My girlfriend uses Cubase, and I use Resolume and Ableton so this will come so in handy! I absolutely love the Midi functions on Keyboard Maestro so far. They're incredibly simple to use. Plus they don't have Velocity which technically is a downside, but I prefer not having it as it can be obnoxious to manage Full On/Off settings as well as MIDI notes.

    Hey, Brian! Thanks for the Lemur Template download! It's already speeding up my workflow. QUESTION - how did you link the colors in Lemur to Cubase? I can't find an option for that in the Studio Setup window. Is this a macro?

    • @BrianRivlin
      @BrianRivlin  2 года назад

      I first made sure I have my default color setup just right. Then I made a project logical editor preset for each color. Then I trigger the presets from Lemur using a midi CC.
      Please note that in Cubase 12 they changed they way you can trigger project logical editor presets.
      So now you have to make the presets and then create a macro within Cubase that triggers the preset. And have Lemur trigger the macro you created.
      It sucks, but it works :)

    Hans Zimmer and JunkieXL both use Lemur. They both paid someone to make the layout for them.
    Even deadmau5 uses Lemur for both DJ and studio control. Deadmau5 showed this on twitch about 3 years ago.
    And even deadmau5's recent covid dj mix party "a 12-hour stream" for his fans, he used Lemur to control the music from his laptop on a live DJ mixshow.
    Lemur was taken off both apple and google stores for a while, since they where no longer being supported, then recently people started to see Lemur again on Google play store.
    As far as the developers continued development or support of the app. I have no clue, but people report that they havent seen anything from that developer for a long time, not even updates or hotfixes.
    Which is sad. Many people have been asking the developer of Lemur, to release his software to the open source community on Github.
    No one heard back ever since. So dont hold your breathe. ---- No one in the recent year has made a proper tutorial for Lemur layouts and how to make them.
    Not that ive seen yet.

      @@BrianRivlin nice, I've just started, I think I will keep building the control surface im creating in lemur but once it's more or less setup then maybe recreate it in Open Stage Control.

      Also im being gifted a ideapad yoga for the setup, and lemur would only run in the editor on it, so that might be the perfect time to get to grips with open stage control.

    Hey man this is great, but if you are really wanting to help why not share or even sell the template as donation ware, otherwise it just seems more like bragging ?

      Hi! You're absolutely right. Even though this video is about introducing the idea of incorporating macros and not a tutorial, and definitely not to brag. I'm sorry if it turned up this way. In my next video, I gave a full tutorial and shared my own template in the description. Here is the link for my template: bit.ly/2MJ4gEf
      As you'll see in the link, I only ask for your name and email so I can share other free stuff once I actually have any. I'm not a big fan of spamming people ;)
      Hope you enjoy the template.
      Cheers!

    Please make a video of this.Perhaps create a template for us Cubase owners and sell it for a token price?....Just a quick “idiots guide would do me!”.

    8:17 - no I'm still not impressed!! I've been doing that natively in Reaper for years. Custom actions make Reaper insanely OP compared to other DAWs!

      I know... that’s why I made my video about OpenStageControl which is new and WAY better than Lemur IMO.
