Much appreciated for checking out the video my friend,😀👍sorry for rambling lol

I like to run foamless in most of the crawler tyres I use. When I put together a beadlock I'll tape around the inner wheel rim (covering the vent hole(s)), then attach 70grms of weight around the inner rim with another run of insulation tape outside of the weights to make sure they stay on there. Pop that into the tyre and fit the beadlocks, trapping the air inside. Makes things look much more realistic and I've found higher grip levels too as it allows the tyre to conform to the surface much better. Ofcourse this all depends on how strong a compound the tyre is. Lately I've finally boiled off the stock Interco tyres off a set of vaterra stock wheels - the foams were massive when I pulled them out! Anyway I did my usual thing with the weighted rims and beadlocks but found the stock tyres are so so soft, I resorted to trimming the stock foams and popping those back in - they perform brilliantly well now. Just enough foam in there to help keep the shape of the tyre yet just enough to let it conform to the surface its on. This is the only set of wheels for my crawlers that I've put foams inside, all others work well just by trapping the air inside. Thanks for your video too!

      Really old video,😂
I've done all the same stuff with the tape, and weights, and whatnot, Sealing the air holes in the wheels, with hot glue in the winter time after Acclimating the tires to cold temps,by placing the tires in the freezer, and then glueing the air holes closed one tire at a time,As well as Reverse Acclimating the wheels,by placing them next to a wood burning stove and getting them super warm before gluing the air holes closed, "memory foam turns into a brick once chilled" place a memory foam in the freezer for five minutes to understand that,
Although Regular cheap black foam's, work well in cold temps,🤔 if you're running foam's that is,😕
I used to run weights in my tires for summer usage, But found them to be detrimental to the drive train, and that the Vehicle's perform better without them,"At least with the off-road conditions that I'm typically running in,"😕
I could go on for hours, about the positive, and negatives of wheel weights, and wether or not to run foam's in your tires,🤔
Ultimately it comes down to the individual vehicle, The type of terrain that your driving in, The the type of wheels, "Aluminum or Plastic" and finally the type of tire that you are running,
Some vehicles in some terrains do better without foam's, but if you where to drive it in a different type of terrain, where ground clearance was key, Then the extra elevation of the foams would be beneficial,
And the type of foam is also a huge difference in vehicle performance,🤔
If it's too soft in the back tires, the vehicle will be prone to flipping backwards when climbing steep Hills, because of the rear tires collapsing,😕 And if it's too soft in the front, it will tend to front flip when going down steep angles, Because of the front tires collapsing too the wheels,😕 it's a fine line between too little and too much,🤔
And once again ultimately comes down to the individual vehicle,😕😄👍
Anyways as I said I could go on for hours, Could probably write a book on the subject,😂 lol
And at the end of the day, it all depends on the individual who's doing the driving, the terrain that they are driving on, and whatever works best for that particular vehicle,🙂👍
Thanks for your great Comment,& much appreciation for taking the time to check out the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍

@@R.C.A.D. nice answer! Yeah it's all about suitability I guess, like you said. My goal really was to focus weight on the axle line, which I think I've achieved in my 3 crawlers. I'm eyeing up a TRX4 kit at the moment....and some brass! :)

I sealed the holes in my stock wltoys 10428a wheels and run the stock tires with no foams and it wheels amazing! btw the 10428a "crawler t/a" is 110mm and the rc4wd mickey T's are 114mm

Yeah my 10428a is nothing like it was in this video, lol she has gone through several changes, with the end result being a Totally Amphibious,Brushless,2.8 Sand Paw paddle sporting,Hydroplaning monster, that can float! And paddle it's way back too shore,😁 lol
I did that mod around 2 year's ago,😂 it's currently sitting on a shelf with a burned out Esc,"Traxxas VXL 3s",and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet,😕 Too many other projects in front of it I suppose,😒
Anywho! Thanks for your great comments, and also for checking out the video,Very much appreciated my friend,😎👍👍

I run no foams but I chill the tires in freezer then plug the vent holes with hot glue for a realalistic air filled look and traction When they warm back up

i mean there is a reason crawlers in real life run like 5 psi in tires

@@R.C.A.D. i will say i got some injora tires today for a rc i just got today super soft compound buy they are so soft it looks like i got a flat tire lol so i put foams back inside i may try to find some really soft foams but these injora mud terrain crawler tires are really nice for a 1/18th scale tire they are made for 1/24 but bigger than most so they look good on the FMS k10 1/18 scale i got today. im working on trying to figure out what to do with my front suspension to lift it as im new to rc's and this FMS k10 is not working with the 1/24 scale sh9ocks i got soo gotta figure something out may have to drill use bushings and make my own mounts

Fyi this is a old video,🙄
And the "2.2 Mud slingers" are one of the only sets of tires that I don't run foams in,😕 But I run foams in just about everything else 😉👍
      Except in the winter,🤔
Well! That's not entirely True, "In the Winter months" some tires I run foams, and others I don't,😕 the regular cheap black foams work well, But memory foam foam's are absolutely useless,🙄 They turn into frozen hockey pucks in the Frigid temp's,😂 lol try it out sometime! It's a pretty easy little test, Simply place them in your Freezer for about 5 minutes or so, and then see if you can Squeeze them, They turn into Bricks 😂 lol
But inner tubes would be great 😁👍
Thanks for your Awesome comment, and for checking out the video my friend.

I love tinkering and adjusting these things but it never occurred to me to pull the foams. This is a really neat trick and I agree, not perfect for every situation. I have some giant Bogger knock offs without the foams and man will they go in a straight line! I have a lot of hard clay here and they manage to clean out without a bunch of wheelspin.

    • @R.C.A.D.

      Thank you my friend 😊👍
And yes,it's not ideal for every situation,or tire design, but definitely opens up some extra options,For example I live in Northern Michigan, and we receive a bunch of snow, and seriously cold temperatures during the winter months,So tire choices, and foam choices, make a Huge difference,in how well you can navigate through the snow,😊 as for foams, the standard cheap black foams work ok in cold temps,But the higher quality memory foam, will literally freeze into a brick as soon as it gets cold, and it doesn't take long for them too become rock hard,A good way of testing them,is too put the foams in your freezer for about five minutes or so,and then give them the squeeze test, squeezing the memory foam will be like trying too squeeze a brick,I run cheap foams in some tires, and others have no foams, you definitely loose some ground clearance with out the foams, but the traction that you gain more than makes up for it,😁
Thanks for your great comment, and for checking out the video,😊👍👍
And have a Happy New Year my friend.😎🎊🎉2020🎊🎉
