Great work Big B. I did melt my motor wires with this set-up. The CG was off and she wouldn't self-right. I now run a TP4060 - 1,650kv - Spektrum packs and have all telemetry. Great fun boat.
I have a V1 ane i just installed the 160 amp 8s this weekend. Then i purchased the 3682 2000kv motor from the new Impulse 32. I run a traxxas M1 dual pickup rudder with a waterpump on a remote switch. Nice to have the boat cooling at all time rather then having to have it move and creat more heat. Ive done with with all my boats.

Both great mods. The battery tray mod works also be easy to do with the SW V1. As for the Firma 160A into V1, it's probably possible, bus now difficult. For those with a V1, your better bet is swapping the stock Dynamite ESC with a HW Seaking 180A. On the 'plus' side, OSE carries a fiberglass ESC mount specifically for the Seaking 180A. Getting back to your V2, i do like the purple & orange combo...but, even better would have been a light blue (to match the light blue of the boat's decals).
I just put the 160 amp 8s in my v1 this weekend. Fits and I have a electric water pump in it as well. Then I put in the 2000kv 3682 motor from the new Impulse 32. Runs awesome
@@ralphhondaman Guessing, you mounted the ESC to the starboard side of the motor? I'll be doing the same (along with a 3682) to one of my V1s...except that I'll be going with slightly lower 1600kv motor. This will be a 6S-only boat, with the other V1 (also running 2000kv motor, with both V1s rubbing Seaking 180A ESC) being a 4S-only boat. I bought my stepdad the V2, but yet haven't decided whether to upgrade the ESC, as his will remain 4S only.
@ninthislandrc I designed my own esc mount. So it screws down into the stock location but offsets the esc out if the way of the longer motor.

Hard to buy the 160 Firma here in the UK, I am thinking about getting the Kraken 180esc and the WiFi add on to upgrade my swV2.

how do you figure out what size of speed controller to use? because I've seen that size of speed control on a lot bigger boat, or is that just over sized for the boat? you da man big B.

So I'm into rc truck n wanna get into boats . All my batteries are 4s so this upgrade is right up my alley cause I want to boating . But what I'm asking is that if I change the esc n run 8s do I need to change the motor later down the line ? Because I've found a group in my country that does boating so they would race from time to time so would I need to change my motor also ???

I'm definitely looking forward to see what you can do with this esc I'm a sonicwake 2 owner mine is all stock besides a cnc prop and I've had it since they came out definitely been on the fence on this esc or the 1 you had previously in your other sw2 either way I'm extremely happy your back at it with the sonicwake v2.. I love your other content but you gotta have the sw2 content also..

What do you suggest to get the larger ESC mounted if all of the ESC posts are already broken. Mine broke so long ago amd ita just zip tied in the boat to keep it in place currently
Maybe cut the post off and use 3m double sided tape and zip ties if possible

I got used to on off switch I'm curious of your tune on the water timing stinger trim tabs turnfins etc like the battery tray mod mines fine but I've been running a single 6s pack never tried 8s. Boatgang for real,you sitting on the hill we be throwing rooster tails for real.pease,my friend that I've never met.
I'm in the process of tuning the v2 she had a ways to go till I get her 100%, just got back from the 8s run, insane! I'll make a video on my tune here shortly
I’m curious why you’re gonna run that Firma 160 in the stock location? I had mine in the stock location on my last black v2 but sometimes it would self righten and sometimes not. So I was gonna try it maybe on the flood chamber side.
Simplicity, it was an easy installation. I may go to the flood chamber once I run it a few times..

Great Video. Do you have video of replacing the wires on that motor?
Here's a link to the ul19 motor fix. Basically the same procedure, but the spektrum motor end bell needs to be removed and the wire soldered using a quality 60/40 sil solder.

I'm going to do the battery strap mod that you did but my entire cage is loose and I have already used two-part epoxy and that has let go as well so what is the proper fix so the batteries don't flop around because the Self righting does not work when the skeletal system is loose
I bought the epoxy from OSE and that worked. Its solid now. I 100% need to get an 8s esc in this thing. I think I have it dialed in enough to do that now.
