    8S is the way to go. She's hauling ass Big B. I got the same set up. Just finishing up some home projects and I'm going to start running the boats everyday. Love your content get me motivated

    Hey Big. B, great vid , loved the 6S 8S comparison. 8S obviously can and will give you a PB under ideal conditions, as long as one doesn’t get carried away. You “warned “ all of us in the risk factors involved with 8S. Am sure you will have your rudder repaired “ironclad”. Thanks for giving us the heads up.

    8s pushes it straight out of the hole fair play. 6s is to tame for such a big boat cavitating on take off. You have definitely found the performance the boat should have for bashing hard. Loving that setup Big B, gutted that rudder tore out and ruined the show, Ironclad that and she’s an Animal for sure 😍👍

    I still have the stock esc in my v2 for 2 summers. I ran this prop for a long time and then gave it to my dad to use. I have a x645 on it now and no power cuts even after bashing. However my battery discharge is not as good as these SMC's. I have one of these on the shelf waiting to go in it. I realize now the CNHL 6500 6s pack i have is 90c rated not the 150c rated like i thought. Warmest water temps we get are lower 80s

    • @PsychonauticExplorer
      @PsychonauticExplorer 11 месяцев назад

      I'd keep it stock unless you like ordering parts and looking for large(r) spaces to use your RC. Looking at RC videos I've concluded that 60mph/100kmh is the max for both boats and cars while still keeping it max fun. Anything faster sounds and obviously looks great but it creates issues with space and bigger crashes. The videos are awesome to watch though.

    I changed my fastest boat from 6s to 8s using the same prop the temps dropped and the speed went up.
    So weird, I guess the boat has less hydronic drag at higher speed but then again more aero drag. It’s opposite to the establishments normal logic. All the forums say prop down when going up in volts.
    Challenging the narrative, I love it.

  • @norcalrc
    @norcalrc 11 месяцев назад +1

    11:19 I knew it would run cooler on 8s. Handles the load better like a big block tow rig you know. 72 mph on that pond is magic bro

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  11 месяцев назад +2

      I wasn't expecting the Temps to be cooler but it makes sense 🤔 I worked my ass off last year to get 67 on 6s. Just to hit 72 in a matter of minutes with an un-tuned boat. Love it

  • @corbymodelboatclub
    @corbymodelboatclub 11 месяцев назад

    Always amazed at how well you get a V hull to perform, I find them a complete pain in the butt to set up. Also nice to see the temps a little cooler which is a surprise as normally upping the volts draws more current, which increases the Watts/ heat but I think it could be increased water flow due to the higher speed.

    I have two Sonicwakes, for tinkering. #1 Had the rudder pull, burnt, and sunk. She’s cleaned, patched, and in dry dock waiting on new guts. Xlx2 and tp 4060-1950kv was intended for 6s 🤞 might have to go 8balls 😅

      The only thing I'm worried about with this particular setup is the motor, 1900kv that's awful high kv in a heavy boat. The temperatures were cool, so I'm gonna send it.. BG4L

    Rc Roland, I have the sonic wake v1, I ran it with two 120c 11.4 v batteries 3s each. And it burned 🔥 my 120A esc do you think the voltage was too high for it, since it only have a single cooling intake water 💧 cooling,

  • @Wanted1069

    Just need some Spektrum 100C packs.
    Then you can get all your temps, rpm, speed, Amps and battery voltage..
    All the stuff that makes tue smart technology so sweet!
    I know. spektrum packs aint really optimum.
    But it is nice once it's all set up on the rugged/5c..
    And we need another bash session!
    I think the zelos is good to go, again..

  • @sjorswouda6865
    @sjorswouda6865 11 месяцев назад

    By increasing the voltage the set up 'uses' the voltage more than the amps
    resulting in lower temps. Less current draw means less internal resistance.
    Upping to 160A / 8S gains lesser temps as well.

      @@IRONCLADRC I went down 1550kv on my 3650, but with a 4519, it will still melt the solder off the green wire... oddly, its only ever the green wire.

      Similar Sonicwake setup 160a firma, leopard 4074-1750kv, running only 6s ,occasional power cut, and one motor wire melts solder every time, almost regardless of prop. Was trying to remedy, with cap pack, before going 8balls, to avoid bigger mess, screw it, going 8 and hope the hardware hangs on. Gracias 🙏

  • @ninthislandrc

    Cool running, especially on 8S...but, I'm thinking, the motor isn't the only thing not designed to handle 8S. Me thinks, the hull, itself, isn't "8S capable"...lol 🤙🏼
    But, I still enjoyed watch. Call it "another non-human audition for Cirque du Soleil".

    45 Years of rc boating has resulted in the optimum combo.
    - rigger no doubt fasted ever designed hull
    easiest to scratch build and repair
    - twin set up stupid high speed (outward ! running props )
    no prop walk, so no rudder tweeking to run straight
    totally symetrical lay out
    less proned to power cut off
    longer run times
    lower temp readings
    smaller rudder needed
    - splash cooling plain, smooth rudder so no eratic spin offs
    less water resistance
    no clogged water lines
    double up with y splitters, see IRONCLAD RC vids
    Still I like to run a deep vee, cat and three point (semi) scale hydro.
    Cause they're all BOATS. That's why.
