    Awesome video brother! Very informative, I just love your educational videos. I personally have done two Exb Kraton's with this 160amp esc and I cut all 4 tabs off and use this red double sided tape I got from my lhs. Add a zip tie after I mount it and it is solid. Was hoping you would show how to remove the stock fan on that Spektrum esc.
    A suggestion for you or anyone is get the 6s Outcast side skirts and put those on your kraton instead. It keeps things clean and looks better imo

    Hi East tactics, I thank you for uploading videos sharing your tips for kraton users. I'm seeing a guy selling his used kraton and I wonder how Firma 160 esc performs when compared to the Max6 from hobbywing. I would appreciate if I could hear your thought on these two. Thank you in advance.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  9 месяцев назад +1

      Both are really in the same league. They provide a ton more power. Specifically allowed on the low end which allows for you to acquire heavier tires, take advantage of increasing your pinion up into the 20s if you desire. And the ESE will always be OK with it. This is true for both. Some of the perks of the firma 160 might come in. If you have a desire to run a smart battery, it’s already compatible if you want to run the family of electronics in the firm line it’s nice to have them together. The installation is a bit more difficult, as you can see from this install, so that would be one downside. The max six fits in a lot easier and is also a really great ESC. Can’t go wrong with either. Both are going to give you the same performance in the same perks. Some people say that the programming For the firma 160 is easier and some say it’s more frustrating. So sort of a moot point there when it comes to the programming features of each, you just really need to dig into the instructions on both and tune them or set them up the way you prefer. One of the greatest benefits of having an elevated ESC especially for your 1/10 scale rigs is they run it much cooler temperatures both the ESC and the motor. This sort of alleviating the need for going above and beyond with more high-power fans etc.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  7 месяцев назад

      Not yet, that’s a great video suggestion. I am hoping with 2024. I push myself to create a ton of new videos, and this would be a good idea.
      I can, however, answer a couple of your questions, perhaps right now, that you may be curious about.
      I would say the biggest motivation reason for me to upgrade to this 8SESC is because of its ability to handle the 6s, line, rigs above and beyond. It’s overkill for it.
      What I mean by that, for example is heating temperatures. Many people struggle with overheating their rigs when running stock components… upgrading to an ESC that is designed for a heavier 1/5 scale rig, but put into a 6s rig translates directly into running a much cooler system.
      You’re not stressing about overheating nowhere near as much or having to go above and beyond in the cooling department. inherently these 8s electronics run the smaller vehicle so much cooler. That’s huge.
      In addition, being designed for a heavier rig but now in the smaller, means you’re now not gonna run into any of the hangups after installing all of your heavier upgrades or going to bigger tires, etc. torque issues or running into cogging or other things like that immediately goes away.
      When it comes to speed, this is a component of your gear ratios and not so much the electronics themselves. Installing the new 8s ESC and a 1730 KV motor doesn’t necessarily translate into a faster rig.
      However, it may… because the new set up is able to handle much higher gearing ratios without problems.
      So… Dropping from a 2500 KV motor to a 1730
      Means a drop in speed to a small degree.
      But now I can upgrade my motor pinion from the stock 13-15T up to 20t and beyond with no issue. Recouping that speed, and now having much more torque.
      So the real question is what is the speed of a rig that is running at 2500 KV motor with a 15 T pinion versus a motor that is 1730 kv at a 20t??
      That would likely be what my video would talk about. My guess at least right now would be probably about the same. Perhaps the 20/1730 KV may be a bit faster. Especially with better low end torque of the line.
      But ultimately upgrading to an 8s ESC is legit!

    I'm curious why did you put it in that way. I turned mine 90 degrees and put it in with the stock plate. No grinding the lip off. And plus it leaves all kinds of room to change pinion gear. I don't think it was that hard. From what I member.
    Have Fun

    Think you went overboard a bit. Mounting screws for ESC were only introduced to make the experience of RMA and replacing ESC's easier, since a lot of manufactures have standardized parts and most void your warranty if you use anything they didn't sell you specifically for that machine. (Traxxas). If you are up to the point of lobbing pieces of an esc..... 3M VHB 5952 would have done just fine, the shear, tensile, and temperature specs are all way above what is needed to hold 280g esc to metal or plastic for the next 100 years. 1 square inch of tape was all that was needed. With one square inch you dangle the car by the esc under a static shear for a few days once it's allowed to set (72 Hr) laate 90's early 2000's it was common to just use VHB tape unless you ran nitro.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  Год назад +2

      Oh I know I went overboard, lol. That’s why I think multiple times in the video I say that the tape alone is likely enough. But I am of the mindset if by chance the Tabor to deteriorate over time (which I guess you’re saying it won’t) at least there’s back up means of holding. I wish I could say I had the same faith in sticky tape as you. But since you seem like you know what you’re talking about. I’ll use it by itself next time. Thanks for the tip

    • @arielr9614
      @arielr9614 Год назад +1

      @@EastTactics I can only attest to 3M VHB 5952, I keep rolls in every toolbox in my house. Clean both sides with alcohol, check to see if both surfaces make flat contact, if they don't then you need to double stack it if the irregularities are higher than the thickness of the tape. I usually cut it about one inch square and keep it away from one edge. I call this the removal edge about 5 to 10 mm. This edge will let you get a pry toll under it for removal down the road. Slowly pry from there and it will come off slowly. I have some RC vehicles that require you not mount things mechanically, like my helicopters in particular and my racing drones. If you do, to much noise will get in to the gyros and accelerometers. Making the things twitch unnecessarily. After you clean, apply, you got about 3 to 10 seconds to rethink before the bond starts to say "Nope". If you want to be safe lightly clamp it down for a few hours to make sure it has even contact, or if you have time clamp it down for 72 hours. Max bond sets in 72 hours. When I mean clamp, I just mean a light pressure like setting a lip on it or apply a plastic clamp lightly. On a car after tape the most I might do after that is place a zip tie over it for a few days if I really want to go outside with my son to bash. I will probably say the 3M is probably overkill and maybe something with lower specs will hold just fine and be easier to remove. The key to tape is to keep "static shear" in spec.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  Год назад +1

      Wow you seem to definitely know a lot about these tapes, what I will say is I do know that the version that I have is 3M, and it is the more industrial. I’m not sure if it’s that exact spec. And I definitely didn’t use a small one in square I covered the majority of the base. So needless to say I’m sure my ESC is on there and won’t come off. I know that the other little tactics that I implemented are overkill but for the overkill enthusiast… Why not right. I did make it clear a few times in my video that I do genuinely think just the tape is good enough and that the other things are extra ordinary lol.
      Really appreciate your sage advice

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  Год назад +1

      With this set up 16 to 21 is all workable Keeping in mind the the higher you go, the faster and more heat generated.
      You could even test out 22 and 23 but watch those heats with a heat gun.
      Currently I’m running 18, plenty fast.
      And plan to experiment up to 22 probably.
      Also note anything past 18t on the v4 v5 models dramatically increases gear stripping. Diff pin breakages on this older less meaty differentials.
      This season I plan to upgrade my rear v4 diff to EXB Diff.
