Love it man just went through three tie rods in the last few bashes and had some of the old rears kicking on a parts truck.. did the mod now time to test!! How has this mod worked for you so far??
Great stuff - hats off to all the great work you've done making these trucks better and sharing that with the community! As for the turnbuckles - do you re-purpose the 4mm lundsford fronts and put them on the rear of the truck?
Good to have beefcake turn buckles but l have never broken one and it is a rare case that l know of I have my titanium still in the box they came with for over a year😁 Keep them mods coming bro✌
Are you running the Hot Racings rear hubs as well? How do you like the steering block and the rear hubs? I am still running the stock composite ones but not sure why I would need to upgrade at all right now.
I still run the stock hubs in the rear. I just haven't had any issues with them and agree no need to upgrade those just yet. they do come with a lot of slop however so I highly recommend watching this video to address that. ruclips.net/video/GD10n3zfAxk/видео.html As far as the front hot racing hubs go... they are amazing, Hands down a must upgrade from stock in my opinion. Don't have to worry about the balls popping out now. But I agree you might as well wait to upgrade them until you have issue.
Real soon, however I did drop the information early for those who felt like digging a little bit. Check the description on my last video. I set my front rod Length to 135mm and they were super toed in on my V5. Set em out to 137mm and much better. Do the earlier versions have different front geometry?
I don’t think so. For a basher you do want the rear section of front tire to be slightly (not super) toed in, and opposite on the back. An over exaggerated way to remember how you want your front and rear camber and toe to look from staring straight down top view of your vehicle is an hourglass⏳. At least that’s how I like to remember it. I’m not sure what you’re aiming for though, are you more of a basher or a speed runner? ruclips.net/video/puMKzmdEPsQ/видео.html
@@EastTactics basher. When I set them to 135mm they were like 4/5* toe in. At 137mm more like 1/2* I have the EXB turnbuckles landing in mailbox today so I’m gonna change em. I have the integy rears. With 137mm I get the perfect hourglass/Toe Question. Tracking. With the slight amount of toe out it’s going to eventually start to wonder down track vs running straight as an arrow but corner super well correct?
I’m not sure if it’s going to be any stronger on the front... you are making up the difference in length with plastic instead of steel. I’m very interested in seeing how it works out after some abuse👍. Love your vids tgough
Hey East Tactics, I broke my turnubuckles tonight at the skatepark, your video are SOOO helpful man! I clicked on the Lunsford link and they sadly retired there business.....I was like . . . . NO!!!!!!!! Do you have any other suggestions for stronger turnbuckles? would GREATLY appreciate any Leads or suggestions......I watch ALOT of your videos, you are like my GO TO guy? please help 👍🏽✌🏽 🙏
Actually, the rear turnbuckles steel versus titanium are the same heavy duty strength. The rear buckles are 5 mm. It’s just titanium is a little bit lighter that’s all pretty in significantly lighter to.
Any updates on this? I like the idea but I don't really like how there is more plastic in this design. 1mm thicker Ti but then 5mm extra plastic bit on the end. How has it been holding up? Maybe we should source some +5mm Ti pieces for ultimate upgrade!
It's working great, the only thing that I would do differently if you were to do this tactic. Is instead of drilling out the hole in the rod end to accommodate for the 5 mm shaft. Don't bother drilling it out. Simply force the 5 mm shaft into the 4 mm hole. This retains a bit of strength in the plastic. But yeah it's been working great
@@EastTactics Good tip. I broke my turnbuckle today if that wasn't obvious :). Sheared my Talion EXB RTR rod right at the start of the tread. I'm looking into this upgrade. Check out the parts: HB Racing D817T 5x95mm Titanium Turnbuckle HBS204407 or Tekno RC ET48 2.0 5x95mm Turnbuckle TKR9451
Just broke a turnbuckle on my Outcast EXB and someone recommend these. Only problem I see, is that the composite rod end can still break. Which in my case, is what actually broke. Not the turnbuckle itself.
Follow the instructions on this mod idea, use the rear turnbuckle rod, and the inner rear beefy composite rod end (for the front inner). Now...Instead of using the classic or stock front outer turnbuckle end (like i did in the vid, which is threaded for 4mm and you have to force it over the 5mm rear rod). If you look in your extra parts bag, given to you by arrma when you purchase the truck, they actually provide a canted or slightly curved beefy rod end that is threaded for 5mm. Its not used anywhere in the stock load out... and I'm surprised I missed bringing it up in my video, but you can use it, and its threaded for 5mm. Just make sure that the distance from end to end (using the rear turnbuckle rod in the front, is the same length that your current (classic) turn buckle assembly is. On my Kraton, and what the video shows, I believe it's 135mm. this will provide the tanky rod ends AND the tank rod for the front. hope that all makes sense... let me know.
Well I was going to drop a new vid and relay the details (links) after I do some testing. On paper, they are 12lbs springs, but since they are longer then stock spring, they may still have the same impact as 18lb springs. ... I see you emailed me... will be in touch 😎
What do you call the blocks on the end of the turnbuckles? The stell turnbuckle is good on my v5 but one of the blocks is broken and I need to get another one but idk the name of the part. Thanks in advance
amzn.to/3EdbYze Turnbuckle rod ends Sort of a tough one to get an official name on because you can’t buy them separately. You can only buy them in a kit.
Yes, I would say that the Lunsford design is better even if you use the 4 mm rod ends in the front. Because that common breakpoint on the stock version does happen on those threads, which technically are even less than 4 mm thickness. Since the Lunsford replace that brake point with an actual 4 mm piece of material. So your Lunsford 4 mm rod ends are going to be stronger by a slight amount.
@@EastTactics interesting, I have been eying these sense before I got my v5 kraton.
