    Currently in the process of buying a 09 n54 manual 65k miles. What struck my interest was how well it was taken care of such as, new gaskets, new belts, new turbos, fbo, custom tuned 450 whp, coilovers, whole timing system was recently done, new coils and plugs, plugged head ports, cam ledges, cam sprocket, crank hub and lock kit, and water pump were all recently done. everything has dates as well as receipts to prove what was done to the car.

    N54 it can be reliable if the engine and the car has been looked after but its kinda rare to see an clean N54 with no issues. most N54 have major problems example the serpentine belt

    • @E-Sangiovanni
      @E-Sangiovanni Год назад +6

      That's not a problem. ALL cars have their unexpected design or engineering issues. i.e Chevy Equinox has too small of a PCV system and the cars implode, PORSCHE have crammed engine bays that reduce the life of plastic peripherals and seals. in the N54, belt issue is not an issue with the belt itself, it craps out because of DELAYED replacement of Oil Housing Gasket / Valve Cover Gasket.

    I get trying to defend an engine you like, but “things around the engine” is stuff like the battery, or the AC, or the power steering. Injectors go directly into the cylinder, and the water pump directly feeds coolant into the water jacket in the core of the engine block.

    If you plan on buying a N54 you better get it dirt cheap.
    You will need the money 💰🤑 for a boat load of cost and maintenance and if you depend on a shop for repairs you will need more money.
