I like how the music gets progressively more intense as the gym leader’s Pokémon go down until the climax gives us the fun crowd sound like Gen 8 did. Hearing that maybe me realize, “Aw yeah, I’m gonna like this game.”
despite all the glitches and bugs with this game, it’s genuinely one of my favourites. playing pokemon scarlet is probably the most fun i’ve had in a while
I honestly agree i mean i get it the games have problems but like aside from that i would agree that these are by far the best in the serious at least characters and story wise. It's been years since we had a good pokemon game come out since black and white because in my honest opinion nothing after black and white was that great till scarlet and violet , i will continue to play these games over and over like i did with black and white and ruby and sapphire and i can't wait for the DLCs hopefully we can pray they iron out the issues with the game before hand.
I hope they take their time with the next few games and focus on squashing bugs and adding smaller details, I haven't enjoyed pokemon this much since my first game (which was admittedly Sun, but I did play Y as well) and the fully open world format fits pokemon so well
i think people get too caught up on whether the games are well made or "objectively" good. i find them to be some of the most fun games in the series with a ton of stuff to do. the story took me by surprise by being one of the more dynamic ones with multiple plots going on at the same time. yes, they are a glitchy mess, and yes, i think game freak should slow down their development, but i think it's become an annoying trend to just hate on any new pokemon game that comes out because that's what everyone else does
@@icebearlikestrains6238to be fair we shouldn't be getting a glitchy, laggy mess of a game from the highest grossing media franchise in the world, so that criticism is completely valid. I think the games were still fun, but they definitely needed more time and polish. I also didn't really like some of the story or characters personally, and the fact the games aren't truly open world due to the lack of level caps or incentive to challenge harder gyms earlier actively hurts them. They're not terrible games by any means, but still not amazing. They're perfectly fine experiences, but we should be getting more from, again, the highest grossing media franchise.
I'd like to pour one out to Kofu for actually having a dang cool thematic Tera Ace. Crabrawler's a coconut crab (which are terrestrial), so it makes perfect sense that they're not part-Water. Crabominable on the other hand is based off of the yeti crab, which is SUPER deep-sea. Plus they both fit together so snugly as a bunch of childish oafs.
The use of the Tera Type’s also good, assuming you’re using a Grass type and not Electric. In theory. Too bad the crab’s too dang slow to make much of a difference.
Tbf they all are thematic Katy is a baker and Teddiursa likes honey and sweets. And there's also the Fury Cutter spam strat. Sudowoodo is pretending to be a plant. You clould say it can make some poses for sculptures, paintings or other art pieces since it can stand still for a long time. Iono has Mismagius but i guess it's like a magical girl thing? Something something cute loli streamer. The Mismagius has levitate as an ability to remove it's weaknesses, has hex to take advantage of paralizi g the opponent and spams charge beam to buff its Special Attack. Staraptor is a final form of an early route normal bird. It also knows Facade which is a TM Larry gives you after battle making a comment about how we should make a good use of it and not make the description of our life.... Poor guy... Ryme is a rap god and has a Toxtricity which isn't specifically a rapping Pokémon but looks edgy enough. I like how the idea of her being a ghost type specjalist is her rapping "being so good even the dead wake up" taken litterally. Love that one Greavard that's grooving in the background on top of a big speaker. Grusha has Altaria. Normally it's very weak to ice but he uses it's weakness as an advantage. Grusha used to be a professional snowboarder and iirc there's a trick in snowboarding called Cloud Nine which just so happens to be Altaria's Hidden Ability. Altaria's fluffy body is white like snow too, useful as a camouflage in snowy environments. And finally there's Tulip and her Florges. I think this one should be obvious. Florges is about looking pretty in a way. Flowers are pretty, so is Florges and the gardens it takes care of. Florges is also based on certain greek mythological fairies that would do pretty much the same. Why a psychic type and not like fairy? No idea, maybe it's about how beauty is in the eyes of the viewer, beauty is objective, beauty is how we act etc.
Honestly I really like what they did with this one. The dynamic music being introduced with Gen 8 was a great start, and now they fully embraced it with music progressively building as the battle goes on, telling a story. And yeah, it's not as good as SwSh one but you have to remember that this time gyms are not the main focus of the game, they are one of three so it doesn't have to be as intimidating.
I feel like we commonly forget though that Gen 5 was the first to have dynamic music in their fights and areas in general. But then they forgot about it for awhile only to slightly bring it back in Gen 8 and Gen 9. It's been a long ass time since they utilized dynamic music
I'm glad though, back in the SWSH games, the player character does the Gym Challenge while Leon does the dangerous important things. We couldn't do anything until Eternatus scene. I'm glad in Scarlet and Violet, we get to do more than just Gym battles.
@@MangoBitts12 To be fair when compared to regular dynamic music, where the song changes slightly depending on the situation, B/W did it a bit too aggresively that I don't know if it counts or not. Sure, technically the fact that the music changes when you are low on HP or it's the gym leader's last Pokemon counts as dynamic, but there's no real connection between them and the regular music that was playing, they just start playing.
Praise for chad Larry being a gym leader and also a member of the Elite Four. Not because Gamefreak's lack of character and design, but a new addition. Larry is actually very good because he can utilize multiple type at once

Holy… Grusha and Iono, I will forever love these too, Iono the energetic streamer with Bellibolt a super cool mon! And Grusha, a “chill” yet “cool” leader, he just wants to battle and leave but he has the best design of a leader ever. Bravo GF, made me fall in love with these leaders

I love how each of the Gym Leaders’ final Pokémon kind of matches something about them or their type speciality. Teddiursa gives off Katy’s “sweet” vibe. Sudowoodoo fits Brassius’s Grass-type. Mismagius just kind of looks right for Iono. Crabominable fits the “buffed” theme of Kofu. Stararaptor foreshadows Larry’s switch to Flying types. Toxtricity is PERFECT for Ryme’s “drop the beat” feel. Florges is a flower. Tulip is completely about flowers. Altaria is bundled up in fluffy gear, just like Grusha. Just speculations, but these do seem to fit.
Bug: A bear that likes honey, which is made by bugs and is also eaten as a sweet Grass: Artists and art in general is much more of what it shows from the outside, just like Vrassius Iono: Oversized clothes, I guess. Also Mismagiuss singing atrracts people, like Iono. Also, she's pretty TRANSPARENT in stream...yeah, I went there Water: No clue, just looks like he's 5 year old son Normal: Looks like his 14 year old son. Also, everyone uses staraptor in evrry gen 4 game Ghost: Music and...yeah thats it Psychic: Smell and perfumes are able to kinda manipulate people, and smell does activatr cettain areas in the brain to help you remember things, so yeah. Cosmetics are a bit of mentsl manipulation, just like smell Ice: Just imagine altaria's cloud is snow
Mismagius is known for hypnotizing its victims- like how Iono hypnotizes her audience with her streams. Just remember Iono's catchphrase: "Your eyes are mine! Caught in my Electoweb!" Teddiursa's also a great fit for Katy, as bears are known for their love of honey- and Katy is a baker, who makes sweets.
Who was suprised Iono of all people would have a Mismagius for her Ace? Not to mention it's very annoying if you're fighting her with equal leveling or underleveled
I like how like half the Gym Leaders don't dress or act like the type they specialize in, besides like one or two minor details, like Tulip for example. I swear she looks like she uses Fairy types. And oddly enough Larry looks like he likes Dark types
Iono and larry were defiantly the two gym leaders who seem to have gotten the most screen time Iono with her whole Vtube vibe trail and Larry not only being a gym leader but also an elite four member as well all the other's just felt like they were there well ryme had her little concert at the start but it was still nothing compared to the other two. I also like how our school director was just wondering around Iono's town and she scouted him to help with the gym trail and he just went along with it while having fun
@@NaushadSayeed speaking of which, I’m surprised they didn’t utilize double battles more outside of competitive. Like really? About 6 or so battles total?
I think a reference that flew everyones heads since i dont see too many people talking about it its the fact that Brassius is a Brazilian reference. I becomes more clear if you speak his name like Bra-Zeeus, which is the way that most brazilians would speak his name on the fly. Also his gym name is a pretty reference too because Artazon Gym is basically Art + Amazon, it makes sense cuz hes a artist and also likes the nature
I like how they take advantage of each of the different typings. Katy’s Teddiursa/Ursaring turning into Bug types switches their weakness of Fighting into a resistance, and allows them to take advantage of Pounce. Brassius’ Sudowoodo turns into a Grass type to counter Water types, especially with the new move, Trailblaze, getting the Tera boost. Iono’s Mismagius getting the Electric typing paired with its Levitate ability makes it have no weaknesses, making it a dangerous threat. Especially with Tera boosted Charge Beam increasing its Sp ATK. Kofu’s Crabomidable becoming Water type allows it to counter Fire types with Tera boosted Crabhammer. Larry’s Staraptor removes its Flying typing by terastallizing into a pure Normal type, and also powers up its Stab boosted Facade. Ryme’s Toxtricity removes the many weaknesses of Poison and Electric by becoming Ghost type, and gets a Tera boost to its Hex. Tulip’s Florges becoming Psychic threatens the Poison type, known for countering Fairy types, with Tera boosted Psychic. Grusha’s Altaria becomes an Ice type to threaten its fellow dragons with Tera boosted Ice Beam.
The only problem with this is that their Tera Types are the same as their specialities, so... While in most battle situations those make sense, in Gym Battles and other MonoTeam Confrontations, those are a little too predictable
To the commenter in the gen 8 gym leader video who said this theme sucked.. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? i think i actually appreciate it more going out of my way to hear it outside of the game.
I fucking love the progression of the battle theme. It actually feels immersive. This was the first pokemon game ive played in a long time. When the gym leader pulls out their ace and the chanting starts it almost brings a tear to my eye and i get so hyped up. For some reason it brings me all the way back to being a kid, playing gen 1. A lot of people gave this game crap, but personally I think they did an amazing job with this gen. From the storytelling to the music to the environment, and the unique characters- definitely a great game imo.
I absolutely love the gym leaders! They all have so much personality, their Ace fits them perfectly in any way and they are all designed really good! Personal favorites for me are definitely Grusha,Iono and Tulip! Nice that Florges finally got some recognition! Overall great characters, not only the leaders, also Rivals/Elite 4 and Team Star! Amazing Job Gamefreak! 🤝🏻
What I like about the gym leaders of this generation is that they have *actual* jobs and are gym leaders on the side as well. Gives it a much more relatable vibe somehow, imo. ♥
The SV Gym Battle music pulls off something *incredibly* difficult. Once Ryme appears on screen, the song basically changes to a different one. So this is two genres of music baked into one, and GameFreak pulled off the impossible by having two music genres in one piece where *both songs slaaaaaaaap*
Y’know it’s about time the gym leaders were challenging again. I had some actual trouble with some of them, and it was fun! Also good to see the gym leaders having jobs outside of battling again.
I love that this generation of gym leaders , everyone’s favorite pick is either the Gura looking streamer or the average 9-5 working man with 2 jobs who loves his jelly filled doughnuts.
The cheering during Terastalization actually gets me going every time. The energy from crowds always get me going, and the fact that it’s present in this battle theme is awesome
One thing I really appreciate about these last couple gens is how they make gym battles feel like a spectacle, obviously if they were real people would want to gather around and watch like it was a sporting event, but up until galar it was just like two people alone in a room
I love when the leaders have personality, and these ones right here... Have it. Of course, not only leaders have personality in this game and that's nice.
I like that they are treating being a gym leader as a job, with all the hiearchy and maybe even corporativeness about it, you can tell the leaders make a living out of it and it doesn't have all that big sport gen 8 vibe that I didn't really dig. like any job, they seem to know the inside working and issues of the pokémon league while people outside are oblivious about it. it's a very mature feeling, maybe even conflituous, with how their boss is really strict on management and several leaders seem to have a problem with her. I hope all that institutional conflict is developed in the additional story.
Probably the best part. Not only do the gym leaders feel a lot more down to earth, what with the actual “gyms” being nothing more than an office space for assistants and signing up for gym challenges. In addition, it feels so natural how the towns have the challenges incorporated into the daily life of people living there, like with the seafood market in Porto marinada, or the snowboarding course on the mountain.
I wholeheartedly appreciate your effort for bringing these in the best as you can, makes it more maddening that Nintendo just proved they obviously have higher quality stuff sitting in the vaults
A few people here are complaining about the chanting, and while I found it off-putting that this might be what the games do in the future, I appreciate that they made the chanting carry the melody here. It sounds a lot more like part of the song than it did in SwSh.
Funny, I think the opposite. SWSH’s whole theme had chanting, unlike here, where it comes out of nowhere and sounds completely different from the rest of the theme. That’s just me tho
Also, (I don't like it), but it was way better than Gen 8's in that it wasn't a chorus of a few people trying to sound like a full stadium and failing to.
I still think Gen 5 had the best "last Pokemon" theme. Using a remix of the main theme is a lot more triumphant than the cheering, even in Gen 8 when we had a stadium doing it. I do like how it's more melodic now than Gen 8 though. The cheering got grating after a while in SwSh
I find that a lot of the real nasty ones were patched out. The only persistent glitch I encountered was finding a tiny, uninteractable Poké Ball or Ultra Ball in the centre of various rooms.
If I put my Kanto nostalgia bias aside, I think the Scarlet/Violet gym leader group is probably my favorite cast of gym leaders. They all had great designs and fun personalities. Hard to pick a favorite from among them. Larry, obviously, but I also really loved Ryme and Grusha. Gotta give a shoutout to Piers from Sword and Shield though. Best gym leader. Bede/Opal too.

I love Katy so much! I just feel motherly vibes from her, and the fact that she goes easy on trainers on purpose is so cute. I felt so bad taking on her team with level 50 mons. 😭 But her rematch team gave me the hardest time, which was a nice contrast.

I like how the music gets progressively more intense as the gym leader’s Pokémon go down until the climax gives us the fun crowd sound like Gen 8 did. Hearing that maybe me realize, “Aw yeah, I’m gonna like this game.”
Pokeflix is dead forever
despite all the glitches and bugs with this game, it’s genuinely one of my favourites. playing pokemon scarlet is probably the most fun i’ve had in a while
I honestly agree i mean i get it the games have problems but like aside from that i would agree that these are by far the best in the serious at least characters and story wise.
This is the ugliest first party switch game I have ever seen. Like I’m having fun but it’s so distracting

@@TylenOneal239Kofu is a name for some kind of seaweed, so... It makes sense.
Coconut crabs came from hell
Tbf they all are thematic
Katy is a baker and Teddiursa likes honey and sweets.
Oh also Larry is one of the best gym leaders ever.
@@elegant_lilligantI swept through his team but his fight is still one of my favorites. So much personality
I really love the low key atmosphere of the gyms in this game, they've never felt so fun and relaxed. This theme helps that!

Brassius is also a sculptor. So his ace is a pokemon that's normally a rock type, and is also known for standing perfectly still.
Also for iono, Mismagius grants her an advantage since it knows levitate
Yea, i liked the choices, they felt creative for the reasons you said
Bug: A bear that likes honey, which is made by bugs and is also eaten as a sweet
Grass: Artists and art in general is much more of what it shows from the outside, just like Vrassius
Iono: Oversized clothes, I guess.
Also Mismagiuss singing atrracts people, like Iono.
Also, she's pretty TRANSPARENT in stream...yeah, I went there
Water: No clue, just looks like he's 5 year old son
Normal: Looks like his 14 year old son.
Also, everyone uses staraptor in evrry gen 4 game
Ghost: Music and...yeah thats it
Psychic: Smell and perfumes are able to kinda manipulate people, and smell does activatr cettain areas in the brain to help you remember things, so yeah.
Cosmetics are a bit of mentsl manipulation, just like smell
Ice: Just imagine altaria's cloud is snow
Mismagius is known for hypnotizing its victims- like how Iono hypnotizes her audience with her streams.
Just remember Iono's catchphrase: "Your eyes are mine! Caught in my Electoweb!"
Teddiursa's also a great fit for Katy, as bears are known for their love of honey- and Katy is a baker, who makes sweets.
"Hello there... it's me, Larry."

3:27 that part is spectacular, makes me feel so nostagic
Black and white last Pokemon theme
Also galar gym theme
The SV Gym Battle music pulls off something *incredibly* difficult. Once Ryme appears on screen, the song basically changes to a different one. So this is two genres of music baked into one, and GameFreak pulled off the impossible by having two music genres in one piece where *both songs slaaaaaaaap*
Ryme may be a rapper, but we all know that if Roxie had been introduced in Gen 9, Toxtricity would have been her true ace!
People can complain about the frame rate issues. They can complain about the glitches. But they cannot complain about any of the music in this game.
Y’know it’s about time the gym leaders were challenging again. I had some actual trouble with some of them, and it was fun! Also good to see the gym leaders having jobs outside of battling again.
I love how Ryme’s hair is like a skeleteon, with the front being an arm and the back a spine+pelvis
I love that this generation of gym leaders , everyone’s favorite pick is either the Gura looking streamer or the average 9-5 working man with 2 jobs who loves his jelly filled doughnuts.
You mean Brock or Larry?
I agree, pretty refreshing for the world of Pokemon to have something like this.
Wasn't sure about it at first, it may not be as "exciting" as other gym themes, but I warmed up to it as I played the game, it's a really fun track!
This battle is perfect for conveying an energetic and good time! It's just a really fun tune overall!

@@yeetskeet3 but somehow it matches with school theme.
It feels too corny and corporate, I don’t like this chant at all.
