When I did the interview before the Elite Four, I told them that the gym leader I found the hardest was Larry... Then I saw him walking out of that door. For a moment, I thought they were specifically choosing him because of my answers in the interview.
That would be the sickest shit ever if they invite your hardest gym leader back. Imagine hearing this theme while they are truly testing to see if you can overcome them at their strongest.
@@castform7 Already happened, multiple times. However, strange enough, they do keep their boundaries and mind their own business. Remembers me my camp in Galar, where one of the most asocial Pokémons according to the Dex was the most friendly and extroverted member of my entire team (she even made a shy Grimmsnarl very comfortable in just a bunch of minutes).
If you don’t do the classes and the teacher interactions around campus, which I imagine a lot of people won’t because it’s a bunch of reading, it will seem out of place.
For those who weren't aware There were audio glitches/bugs in yhe game as well. The Elite 4 and champion themes only played the first few seconds (15 seconds for this song) and then looped back to the beginning. This went on for a long time.
I like how rika's personality changes during the elite four segment when you first meet her during your gym challenge she's has this enthusiastic upbeat personality about her then when you meet her at the pokemon league she's more professional and serious most likely realize that we're the real deal now but still has a tiny bit of that laid back personal leaking out
You know… in most other games the elite 4 feel like some 4 random trainers, but here they feel like a team, they’ve got lots of personality and chemistry with eachother it’s great!
Oh yeah I screamed MY BOY IS BACK OH FUCK. what’s so weird is when I was younger I designed and made up an elite four member who was specialized in normal types who wore a business suit . It’s so surreal to have my idea actually come to life . Yeah sure he used flying types but he did normal in the gym lol good enough
I like their "work friends" vibe. They're probably the best Elite Four, character-wise, and I really like how they stick around to watch the next match.
They have really fun interaction with each other. Everything from the toddler whining to Rika that she lost, to Larry getting chided for making someone else shout for the next Elite Four member because he is just so done with everyone's shit.
These four just look and act like a big family, and I love it. We have the cool teenager, the child, Larry, and the over emotional father that just loves and congratulates you on every accomplishment you make.
I remember wondering why his tie has clouds on it when I battled him as a Gym leader and then when he showed up a flying type specialist in the E4 I realized why! That was a fun detail.
I genuinely thought it was because he secretly yearned to be over and done with the monotonous, everyday salaryman lifestyle. He wanted to be "free as a bird", so to speak. I mean, his tie literally sports the design of a sky, something that clashes with the rest of his suit; a nod to his secret desire. Though I guess that was just my own headcanon
@Arthurmagicknight Well, it's kinda the opposite. Larry prefers normal types, he views his gym job as more like a hobby than anything. Geeta asked him to use flying because she thought it could inspire him in his work, as a sort of thematic "be as free as a bird" kind of thing.
My first attack on it was thunder fang. It accidentally paralyzed it and I had zero clue it’s gimmick was facade. So it promptly destroyed me. Cuz of stupid paralysis lol
@@doctorviper2061 "I fear no man. But that, *thing* (Larry's Staraptor with Facade) ...it scares me." I assume that's what you mean and I wholeheartedly agree. It's terrifying. XD
Welcome to the Paldea Elite Four! We have: -Down to earth, literally -A god damn preschooler -Larry (Larry) -Emotional dragon grandpa Beat them and you will face: one of the champions of all time!
I almost forgot that the Champion Greeta existed. We literally only see her like 4 or 5 times the whole game. She was really easy to beat as well. To be fair I was thinking that I had to fight Nemona after the Elite 4. Thats how forgettable she was.
Poppy is a really powerful preschooler tbh, she's an Elite Four member after all and this is kinda scary I would love to see how powerful she can be, but some years later
@@kylewood4488-b9r How to make Greta Good: 1. Make Glimmora her lead and Kingambit her ace (maybe give it sucker punch and swords dance but that might be too spicy) 2. Replace Gogoat with Armorouge/Ceruledge (depending on the version, it would be cool if it was version exclusive opposites) 3. Replace Avalugg with Gholdengo
Larry is just wonderful. Because, he ignores all the flashy, flagship types ( Electric, Ghost, Dragon etc) and instead trains and raises possibly the two most unloved types ever- Normal and Flying. Also, the bond between him and his Staraptor- what seems to be his only true friend- is precious. Its like they’re on a mission to convince the world that Normal and Flying types aren’t so dull after all. (They’re not. And btw, Poison is pretty darn unloved too)
The thing I love most about normal type is that they have some pretty baller moves. Body slam, facade, boomburst, and my all-time favorite, Head Charge (Afro Break in Japan). Love me my precious Bouffalant.
@@Argnos2293 AFRO BREAK?! HAHAHA! That is possibly the BEST name I've ever heard for a Pokémon Move. I WISH they kept that in the worldwide releases. Honestly though, normal types do have good moves. They’re probably the most balanced too. Only weak to fighting, after all.
@@LokiToxtrocity yeah but that's more symbolism because to the players POV it's from the right which represents going forward towards progress and vice versa for Sada while Hassel is just left handed because he can
Poppy is having fun on the swings, Rika is robbing the carni-game booths blind, Larry is sitting on a bench eating vanilla ice cream with a Staraptor plush Rika won for him, and Hassel is chatting it up with the caricature artist while he’s getting his own portrait made.
Poppy: How are you enjoying the merry go round mr. Larry? Larry: The ups and downs really are just like life, kid, only you never know if it’ll actually go back up after going down, and just expect it to get lower and lower… Poppy: …let’s get some ice cream after this.
I hate to admit it, but Larry's team switch-up got me. There I was, thinking to myself 'oh, more normal types' as I put my Hariyama into the lead slot. I started the fight, and it struck me too late... 'wait his ace is a flying type too. His tie is also a scarily light shade of blue... 𝙤𝙝 𝙣𝙤" And then Hariyama lived to see another day because he insisted on spamming solar beam instead of a flying type attack.
He doesn't capitalize on it completely but it's still ingenious to have him switch to flying. He forces the enemy to switch into a different Pokemon while he's setting up for his sunny day/ solarbeam combo. He could've just attacked with a flying type move, but he was specifically designed to catch the switchers off guard
Same here, I saw him appear and prepared my Annihilape (called Mittens btw) to sweep his team on a single blow. It then turns out he's going Flying now and I get screwed. Actually managed the battle until that Flamigo ended the last few Pokémon I had left. Had to repeat the whole thing after teaching my Mabosstiff Wild Charge.
@@moony2249 his AI is weird cuz I had Tinkaton out, he used sunny day first, then proceeded to spam air slash instead of SB. Both are resisted but SB definitely would’ve done more damage plus he set up sun.
While Larry is definitely my favorite, I have to give endless props to Hassel. Being centered around your studies at an academy, it is wonderful to see an elite four member who is so invested in the success of his student. Him having a sensitive soul is so touching. On top of this, going in underleveled and mono-water type was scary against him. His Baxcalibur was the most threatening E4 Pokémon since Molayne’s Metagross. Endless props!
Rika might be one of my favorite characters in the game. Her design is amazing. And her weird test before the Elite Four was actually super intense. It's like she was trying to make sure Champions understood Paldea and weren't just speedrunners.
These E4 members have some kind of VERY funny family dynamic going on here and I'm ALL for it. The diversity of these trainers are hilarious and in the best way possible.
I don't know how it's been done in other languages, but in italian Rika talks in a very heavy roman dialect. I love how, during the oral test, she stops talking like that and actually uses correct italian, just to go back to screaming in roman once we pass the test
That's funny. The most that can be said about her dialogue in English is that she perfectly embodies the "laid back but serious" archetype. She acts exactly like an old-souled teen
I love that this Elite Four makes it impossible for you to let the box legendary carry you. Watch any Hoenn run (I love Hoenn, this is just an example) and as soon as they catch Rayquaza it’s pretty much GGs. In Paldea, you aren’t getting Miraidon or Koraidon until you beat the Elite Four AND La Primera. It puts more emphasis on actual team building.
@@azazel166 And then there's Cynthia in the Sinnoh games whose ace Pokémon is tailor made to deal with any of the cover legendary dragons you may have.
I still love that Larry is the first Trainer to not only be a Gym Leader but also an Elite Four while also specializing in two types. Larry's unique in many ways, even in personality. lol
@@warriorpokemon1518 No I didn't, Wiki literally has stated how unique Larry is as a trainer, if Wiki is wrong, you can change that yourself. He's the first to have two types instead of one, and the first to be both a Gym leader and an Elite 4.
@@warriorpokemon1518 koga isnt a gym leader and an elite four at the same time, unlike larry. Koga changed positions during the 3 years between gen 1 and 2.
I like this elite four setup not because of the music, but the fact they literally have a child being one of them. That really says a lot, she is more successful than even any playable Pokémon protagonists in the game
There's also Larry. I love how Larry's also an Elite Four member, when using Flying-type Pokémon. Interestingly, Poppy owns both Corviknight and Tinkaton, two Pokémon usually don't get along.
but i don't like it, in my opinion this elite four looks like that ''la primera'' woman just took a bunch of random people and made an elite four, it's basically composed by random professor and his daughter(?), her secretary, and a random gym dude, they aren't even specialized in a specific type (except that professor dude), and i don't like the music either, so overall, i don't like this elite four.
@@user-xb7tj8vq2i wdym by not specialized in a type? Ground, Steel, Flying and Dragon, in that order. You could say Larry is not really a flying type specialist, but the rest do have their own type

@@callmesilver2683 Eh, I wouldn’t generalize Japan as that now. I saw the comments about it when trailers first released, but the reception is likely different given the full release. People who call Rika “woke” tend to forget all the androgynous characters like Wallace.
I genuinely had trouble with the Medali gym so I picked that option. When Larry showed up I genuinely thought that whatever gym you had the most trouble with the gym leader returns...
Me, having Quaquavl: Larry again??? Wait, i HAVE A FIGHTING TYPE! I GOT THIS! I CAN WIN THIS EASI- Larry: So yea....im going in with Flying types. Me:.....Larry, why are you like this?!?!
I had the bugged version for my very first episode and thought for every elite four member, they would keep cranking up the song's intensity. Feel like that would be another amazing idea for a future elite four. Even though it was only a fracture of the actual theme, the cold and repetitive bugged version kinda had sth to it too, but getting the real deal in the battle right after really blew me away, it's just so good.
I used to fantasize that Pokémon would make different versions for the gym leaders. Perhaps using the same base soundtrack but adding in other accompanying instruments depending on the type or level of the leader
During the test section I chose Larry as the gym leader that I had the hardest time with and I genuinely thought it let me choose who the 3rd elite 4 member was.
Right? And it makes sense that all of the gym leaders have a signature pokemon with a typing that is not their main specialty, and almost none of those types overlap with the other elite 4 members: Katy - normal, Brassius - rock, Iono - ghost, Kofu - ice/fighting, Ryme - electric/poison, Tulip - fairy, and Grusha - flying/dragon (the only outlier lol)
Fun fact: In Japan, women were asked what their fictional female crush was. Rika was considered number one Tumblrsexywoman in results. This shows that Japanese women have good taste.
Imma be honest, i love how they portayed Rika in this game. Im talking about the Italian version of the game, in which Rika has a, well, particular way of speaking, which i loved a whole lot. Its a first in the entire Italian dub of the pokemon franchise, and im all for that, i swear. For more details: she uses an accent from Rome, Italy's capital. Its like the when you get the english languange and then you have the british accent, or the australian accent.
That is so interesting. I played in Italian as well and noticed this strong dialect from her. Grazie mille! Adesso conosco esattamente il suo dialetto.
She also talks in a notable way in Japanese! She uses Kansai dialect, which is kind of equivalent to a southern accent in the US (has a lot of the same stereotypes associated)
(I'm Italian too) I loved Rika a lot, the fact that she spoke in dialect actually did give her a cool side personality trait. Plus, even in Japanese she speaks Kansai dialect, having her in ROMAN dialect was hilarious and cool at the same time.
YEAH FINALLY SOMEONE MENTION THIS!! BECAUSE I'M ITALIAN TOO AND I COULDN'T STOP WHEEZING AT EVERY DIALOGUE WITH HER, IT'S SO COOL SEEING A POKEMON CHARACTER SPEAKING ROMAN DIALET FWJWJFKFK
@@basicsimp8798 true, but I did at least find it cool that the reason they’re all there is that they, along with you, are trying to compete in the tournament and win so that THEY have a chance to knock down Leon and become the new champion themselves, it added to the feeling that Leon is this unbeatable force. But I always do love meeting new characters and I like even more when you get to interact with them before the Pokémon league-like in these games-and not just come across four random boss battles
I love Larry he looks boring but I think that’s what makes him interesting for the normal typing because normal is plain and NO gym leader has ever been “boring” appearance-wise adding to the further difference Larry has with other gym leaders. He’s deceptively plain. Strong too. But if push came to shove, he can master a type. As an elite four.
Larry's cloud tie and ace being staraptor during his gym battle is an awesome tease for his elite four type specialty. Also, as a stereotypical "normal" burnt out businessman, he is likely often flying from place to place (in his case from Medali to the Pokemon League HQ), so the flying type is a perfect choice.
this theme sent chills down my spine, especially the opening. it fits really well though with the intensity of the champion assessment in general along with just the general fact that you are facing off against some of the most skilled trainers in paldea
@@paulbunions8580 although it did make it more intense if you had very limited revives like me. Enough to last untill the last elite when I was all out
You're a lucky one. It absolutely ruiend the experience. I genuinely couldn't get into it at all because of the music. I wasn't even aware of what was going on in the battles because of it. Just felt like grinding or something.
Love the bit at 1:06 where it plays the 'Gym Leader Defeated' theme but then interrupts it with more tense music. To me, it feels like the game is saying 'Victory is close' before pulling away from that as though to say 'but who really wants to win more'. Whole themes great, but the one part is beautiful. 😩
When I played this elite four, there was some sort of glitch and the music throughout all the battles was the first 0:15s on a loop, I thought it was strange, but it felt really tense.

Favorite theme from the game personally. Lots of personality and fun interactions between the E4 members at the Pokemon League. It was honestly my favor part of the game seeing how they speak to eachother between each battle. Larry is the absolute GOAT btw. My guy balances being a gym leader and e4 member and still gets bossed around. Larry just getting through life.
for some reason, rikas glove was really low quality. it looked like if you turned textures to low in a source game. The others looked fine, so it's kinda funny

@@Evie0133 In my case, I never knew about the music glitch, but I did know about the memory leak. So I rebooted the game before entering the Elite Four solely because I didn't want the game to crash partway through. So I never found out about the music glitch until after. I got so lucky.
I went into these elite battles blind, and this theme kept me on the ropes waiting anxiously to see what their teams are. Just the thought of one of them potentially dominating the fight while this theme plays was PEAK elite four experience.
This might be my favourite Elite 4 to be honest. With the other E4's they're kinda just there for me. They're interesting enough but most of them felt overshadowed by the Champion. I can only name about 2 members from each. With this, not only are they characters you've met before and got to know well (Larry and Hassel especially), but they're all very interesting and diverse. I think they all play off each other very well too.
This theme tops Unova as my favorite E4 battle music in the series. Massive F to everyone who was robbed of hearing this masterpiece in its full glory in-game.
I almost didn't have difficult matches through my game, but Larry's gym fight was so freaking exciting, i beat him with my last pokemon on tera with just 1 hp left, so when i went to the elite four and i was asked what was my most difficult gym fight and answer Larry, i saw him coming and my reaction was like "Hey that's a pretty good mechanic, they ask you who was your hardest gym leader and then they make you fight him again but this time like an elite for member" But then i searched and realized that Larry was actually an original member, and not only because of my answer was that he showed up 💀
Rika is cool, Poppy is the kid prodigy and your literal Arts teacher is here, but I can’t helped but be surprised by Larry. Not because he’s also an Elite Four, but he has like three jobs under his belt. A Gym Leader, Elite Four and Salaryman while having a face that looks like he hasn’t slept properly for 5 days. Nobody seems to point out that he specializes in 2 types, which while still simple typings(Normal and Flying), is impressive all the same.
Larry was anything BUT a normal everyday man. The guy has multiple jobs and is a master of two types simultaneously when most Gym Leaders and Elite Four members only mastered or mained one type. The Staraptor Larry used during the gym battle was a good foreshadow, so I like to imagine the Staraptor is like his ace.
@@audinothesweetswarlock4229 I like to think that every Gym Leader has their last Paldean Pokémon as their ace like Iono said it was (Brassius' Ace is Smoliv, Iono's is Bellibolt, etc... ) But in Larry's case, I think Staraptor it's the best Pokémon that suits him
can i just say that i love larry's throwing animation 😭 i mean i love larry in general but his animation somehow manages to be a mix of unexpectedly energetic and sort of tired/floppy looking at the same time. it's really endearing imo
Best current Elite Four in my opinion. They all seem interesting, their Pokémon are great and music is amazing too. Only complaint is that they don't have their own rooms. Also love the fact that they all seem to be great friends.
I think the fact that they don't have their own rooms makes this four better. It would have been cool if the room could simulate a different arena for each battle, but it's nice to have the Elite 4 there to watch on as you go through them.
The good thing is that you get to meet them beforehand so you roughly can gauge their characters whereas past games, the Elite Four just appear in the room and you need to fight them without knowing them that well.
I love this unique set of Elite Four. We have Poppy the child prodigy, Larry specializes two different types depending on his position, Hassel the art teacher owns a Pseudo-legendary, and Rika. Truth be told, when I first saw Rika in the leaks I almost mistaken her for a guy. I'm pretty sure it happened to several people as well. 😅😊 It's great to see the Elite Four again, it's been like three years since we haven't seen them in SWSH games. Wow time flies sure fast...
I also really love the type combination of this Elite Four and I think is my favorite besides Unova. Ground, Steel, Flying and Dragon are some of the strongest types in Pokémon both offensively and defensively, and there aren't shared weaknesses except for maybe Ice lol
Most wouldn’t know if they didn’t do the extra scenes in the academy, but Hassel is the heir to a lineage of dragon masters. He left behind his family expectations to continue being a dragon master in favor of a career in education at the academy. He’s a romantic, which shows in his appreciation for art and strong emotional responses (mainly crying when happy), which is also demonstrated in one of his lectures.
YASS if you take all his classes before you finish the league challenge, he is the E4 member that you spend the most time with in the entire franchise. Supportive and emotional grandpa, dragon type specialist, Makima eyes. He’s just so good
I am an art major, and I absolutely LOVE hassle as an art teacher. It's a real breath of fresh air to portraying artistic people. I still love his very honest opinion, "you don't need art to survive, but knowing about art can make surviving nicer."
Everyone loves Hassel tho, he is very popular, I think ive seen more fanart of him than Rika, which is funny cuz she's also very popular. The least popular is definetly Poppy but it makes sense, there's nothing much going on for her
@nwp-hz5dm Wait really? I have seen wayyy more fanart of Rika compared to Hassel, it doesn't matter tbh, I'm just glad he is getting love. And yeah it does make sense for Poppy to be the least popular, though I think she is great as well.
I love the family vibe this elite four gives. Rika is cool-headed mother, Poppy is the baby, Larry is the over-worked father, and Hassel is the eccentric grandfather.
I picked Larry as the gym leader that gave me the most trouble in the interview with Rika and then he just comes in as an elite four lol, I thought itd always be the one you picked and that wouldve been incredibly awesome
This is the vibe that Every Elite Four theme needs to have going for it. It needs to be intimidating, slightly scary, energetic but not crazy, a drive to push You, a wakeup call to where you actually are. I feel that generations 5, 6, 7, and 9 were all at the top of this game in accomplishing. I also can't get over Larry's mean throw, and immediately returning to his casual stand/stance.
This Elite 4 song makes me feel true dread and tension as I'm facing off against them, adding a spice of epicness to them all. Much like in the 5th gen.
It is good to see a proper Elite Four is back with intense music also! Larry being there was an awesome surprise, although I felt Dendra would have made good Elite Four member as well.
Two Fighting-type experts this gen, BOTH of them Champion material. Eri's the strongest NPC in the main game outside of final bosses, and Dendra has a strong team of six in the Academy Tournament.
I prepped for larry thinking i would need fighting types…boy, i was in for a surprise. But rika was the one who actually put up a fight. she gave me a hard time because i dont have a ground counter oriented team.
I might be wrong about this, but I liked how the elite four members try to keep their specialized type hidden. The exception is Larry, who says he is using flying types but you probably expected him to use normal again when you saw him appear.
Ah Pokemon. The only series where a Tomboy can almost annihilate you with a funny mudfish and a literal child can almost ruin your win with a funny hammer fairy.
Rika pulls all the weight. She has to interview and fight you, take care of a child, cheer up a depressed man, and tell a dragon specialist to stop crying. Also, Larry wouldn't yell loud enough for Hassel, so Rika did it instead. Her ace is also a 430 base stat total clodsire. Wow.

Larry is just wonderful. Because, he ignores all the flashy, flagship types ( Electric, Ghost, Dragon etc) and instead trains and raises possibly the two most unloved types ever- Normal and Flying. And then Hariyama lived to see another day because he insisted on spamming solar beam instead of a flying type attack.
He doesn't capitalize on it completely but it's still ingenious to have him switch to flying. He forces the enemy to switch into a different Pokemon while he's setting up for his sunny day/ solarbeam combo.

I really like how we finally meet every elite before fighting them. Like, we had some encounters with Champs and maybe two elite before, getting to know every member of the league gives it a nice sense of buildup!
I'm still sad you can't rematch these guys. I love them.
You can't? Not even in the postgame thing?
@@j.martinez8767 nope they are just gone. At least in regards to Rika and poppy you can't rematch them ever.
Though the other two you can (one in the gym leader rematches and the other in star tournament)
Maybe the DLC will allow us to rebattle them, now that we know there is going to be a way to fight again with some other characters like the gym leaders... I really hope those rematches include the E4
I have good news
cool music, when the loop isn’t broken by a glitch lol
Agreed! But the glitch is an easy fix! Just save before battling the elite 4, restart the game and it should fix it. 😁
The glitch had me thinking this and the champion theme were the worst in the series
@@willkeful8407 Mhm! I did do it in my first run in the middle of the Elite 4, not to fix the glitch (i didn’t even know that was a glitch till i looked it up), I just wanted to play after having some dinner, and I noticed the theme sounded so different when I picked it back up haha
@@Evie0133 In my case, I never knew about the music glitch, but I did know about the memory leak. So I rebooted the game before entering the Elite Four solely because I didn't want the game to crash partway through. So I never found out about the music glitch until after. I got so lucky.
i thought i was the only one who thought that the song is weird af
Despite this elite 4 being a land slide, everything including the type line up, our boy Larry carrying two titles, and this theme we’re amazing!!!!
I went into these elite battles blind, and this theme kept me on the ropes waiting anxiously to see what their teams are. Just the thought of one of them potentially dominating the fight while this theme plays was PEAK elite four experience.
Same. The only one I was semi ready for was Hassel because of the school conversation of his relative and being from a dragon trainer clan.
Fun fact: Poppy is the only one of the Elite Four that does not specialize in a type weak to Ice.
Rika, Larry and Hassel cowering in fear in front of an ice type: “Please don’t hurt us”
Poppy: *TINKIE, GIGATON HAMMER*

This might be one of the most intimidating E4 themes yet
Side note) This was before I realised the neverending loop was a bug
@@audinothesweetswarlock4229 I like to think that every Gym Leader has their last Paldean Pokémon as their ace like Iono said it was (Brassius' Ace is Smoliv, Iono's is Bellibolt, etc... )
But in Larry's case, I think Staraptor it's the best Pokémon that suits him
"Nobody seems to point out that he specializes in 2 types" bro did you even read any part of his introduction in the elite 4?????
Larry was told by Geeta to use flying types I don't think he would've used em if Geeta hadn't had requested it
@@allaxx1006 the fact that his Normal team ace is just an early route flying type is unbelievably fitting
So for Paldea’s E4 we have:
-Tomboy
-Child
-Larry
-Your art teacher that somehow has Godzilla
Literally this entire sequence scared me to death despite the fact I did it first try. They made it so intimidating!
can i just say that i love larry's throwing animation 😭 i mean i love larry in general but his animation somehow manages to be a mix of unexpectedly energetic and sort of tired/floppy looking at the same time. it's really endearing imo

@@commenterlafleur4226 it would have been cool if the panels on the walls were screens and made a cool pattern on the wall.
@@commenterlafleur4226 That would work. Would be hilarious to see them comment on it too, "Always hated this colour" or something like that.
my only complaint is you can't rematch them
The good thing is that you get to meet them beforehand so you roughly can gauge their characters whereas past games, the Elite Four just appear in the room and you need to fight them without knowing them that well.
It's great to see the Elite Four again, it's been like three years since we haven't seen them in SWSH games.
Grusha: I’m a dude!
Rika: you’re more feminine than me…..
Last time we’ve seen an elite four was alola, 6 years ago
@@Kurameno Damn
Most wouldn’t know if they didn’t do the extra scenes in the academy, but Hassel is the heir to a lineage of dragon masters. He left behind his family expectations to continue being a dragon master in favor of a career in education at the academy. He’s a romantic, which shows in his appreciation for art and strong emotional responses (mainly crying when happy), which is also demonstrated in one of his lectures.
literally who would have known that hassel would be one of my favorite characters in the whole game
It's funny how you have three normally dressed adults and then one sassy lost child.
I know everyone loves Rika and Larry (for the right reasons), but I never thought Hassel would become my favourite character of the series.
Me too surprisingly.
I mean, Hassel is an Art Teacher, uses dragons, and is emotional and funny,
he checks off most traits I like in characters.
Gotta love the randomness of this elite four
-Tomboy
-9yo girl
-Tired depressive pessimistic office worker
-Art teacher

Rika is definitely up there as one of my favourites this gen
I love the little spin she does after throwing a ball
I love the family vibe this elite four gives. Rika is cool-headed mother, Poppy is the baby, Larry is the over-worked father, and Hassel is the eccentric grandfather.
Fr I find this elite four really underrated !
Rika is more like an older sister than a mother lol
Yeah, it's really cool, and it fits with family being a MAJOR theme in Scarlet and Violet's cast.
I picked Larry as the gym leader that gave me the most trouble in the interview with Rika
and then he just comes in as an elite four lol, I thought itd always be the one you picked and that wouldve been incredibly awesome
I agree
It screams u gon die
Gen 5 is D I E
Gen 7 is E X T R A DIE
Let present you the Elite 4: A badass, a baby, a person and a crybaby
If only I could actually hear the whole song in game
This has got to be one of the best elite 4 themes ever. It’s so funky yet sounds serious too
It's funny when u notice that have the same structure from Sinnoh elite 4, wich I personal think it's one the best E4 themes we have.
It is good to see a proper Elite Four is back with intense music also! Larry being there was an awesome surprise, although I felt Dendra would have made good Elite Four member as well.
Yeah, Dendra is likely Champion material to me. I haven't finished the game but I assume she is strong.
Hassel really intimidated me at first, not going to lie. He's just a big softie.
I legit do not remember this theme sounding this good in game. Like at all.
Because you most likely got the glitch version where it just plays the intro on a loop
This theme gives me Alola elite four vibes, AND THAT'S A GOOD THING-
Most Elite 4 music: Challenging, good luck.
Unova E4: Die.
Alola E4: Extra die.
Paldea E4: Also extra die.

Wow.
