Listening to gen 1 gym leader theme, 28 years later, brought tears to my eyes. I dunno why, maybe due to long forgotten memories of childhood, of better days gone by. I'd never have expected Pokemon to have lasted so, so long, but I'm so happy it has.

Galar really brought me back to loving every gym leader as a person first and foremost before falling in love with their gym leader status. The characterization in the region harkens back to Unova days.
For every complaint I have about sword and shield, they are over shadowed by the depiction of the gym leage. You weren't just some random shmo trainer that came to town one day, you are a competitor that is edging out the other trainers to become the finalists. As you are waking down into the field, with a cheering crowd of the stadium. The gym song makes you even feel even more of a rising star of a competition.
If the leagues were like this it would be cooler, then after winning you would face the elite four and finally the champion, just like in the anime@@geoxaga6507

No matter the regions, Sinnoh will always make me feel like gym battles, heck even trainer battles are super high stakes battles, since the music makes it feel like that. It makes me consider my moves carefully, with battle drums-like rhythm, but at the same time hypes me up like nothing else!
Unova never disappoints in the music side. They made B2W2 Gym themes subtly new to BW and Im all in it 🌹and being one of the only gens to have 2-part themes ❤️❤️ wish Gen 5 remakes will surpass this
BW/B2W2 by far had the best sound design out of any of the games they've made. SWSH gym leaders have my favorite soundtrack, but as a whole they just can't keep up

I like how the first gen leaders, you can't tell what type of gym leader they are by their appearance. In later games, they not only start to look the part of their type but also start to resemble their strongest Pokemon on their team.

Galar theme is the best hands down. Since playing the game as a kid in Yellow I have never felt the burning desire to crush my opponent THAT bad... When the crowd starts cheering in sync as ur pokemon becomes big, facing down the opponents own big mon is just DIFFERENT!!!!!! And that is also taken into consideration that everything seems more dull after you reach adulthood. Might have to replay SS now.
As much nostalgia as I have for the older gens, especially Hoenn. I'm inclined to agree. When I first stepped into the stadium and heard that theme for the first time. I was hyped. I've never felt so hyped for a gym battle before. Like, Sword and Shield may have it's faults, but they nailed the atmosphere of the gym challenge.
First game I played was Pokemon Y and I remember hearing the theme and feeling like the Gym Leader. I'm getting into the older games and I can say that the themes are awesome.
When I was a bit younger i played all the main pokemon games up until black/white. I recently also played pokemon x, but i haven't played the newer games. I'm now 18 and the older themes, especially from gen 4 and 5 genuinely make me cry from nostalgia. man i love this franchise

Honestly, my top 3 would have to be Kanto, Jhoto and Kalos. If I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be Jhoto’s for being an adaptation of Kanto’s which is iconic. And the Kalos gym leader theme is my personal favourite unique one. If I had to pick another two, Hoenn and Sinnoh were close contenders.
Yeah I noticed that. However I considered it a remake every double of that gens number. With Kanto kinda technically being remade in gen 2. So I agree that gen 5 is most likely being re-made in gen 10. If they go with the 3 year cycle they have been doing for every gen recently. Then that means gen 5 remakes are most likely occurring in 2026 or 2027.
The Alolan theme really went hard with the intro and went with the fun vibe of battle on its main... galar gym i think is still the best of this list so far but from what i'm seeing, the later gens are getting more and more experimental when it comes to gym themes.
You should mention that some of them change their aces in some matches also Paldea gym leader aces are their terastialized Pokémon but I agree that the ones you said are their aces without terastialization
I love more kahuna characters designs Lychee, Hala, Hapu and Nanu than the other gym leaders, Lillie, and all trainers characters make me love this one of my last pokemon game.
Best one’s (in my opinion): Sinnoh, Alola, Galar and Paldea (specially the very last part that it’s to exciting, feels like a combination of Alola for the background and Galar with the cheers of the public!).

Can someone explain to me why no one likes paldea’s gym battle theme? I know paldea’s can be a little repetitive, but like it changes with every few pokemon you defeat.. idk but I love the theme already But whenever we get to the last pokemon, the cheers make me so happy (which were also present in gen 8’s gyms, so idk why people dislike this but not the galar ones)
black and white 2 really were peak pokemon, fight me. they had the pwt, brought back AND updated all of the past gym leader themes (even bw1's) as well as the gen 3 leader sprites. gen 5 music was just amazing as a whole.
Man. As much as i love each theme in their own way, kanto just hits the hardest for me. It feels the most core to pokemon with each version, naturally set the initial feel to the OG trainers who got in from the original GBC, and it just has this weird feeling like brock should always be the strongest rock gyn leader, to Giovanni being the most baddy of Team bad leaders. Having rainbow rocket comeout in ultra sun and ultra moon felt like the biggest thumbs up and fist bump to the old players and i really really hope to see his return like that again

I love more kahuna characters designs Lychee, Hala, Hapu and Nanu than the other gym leaders, Lillie, and all trainers characters make me love this one of my last pokemon game.

Whenever I hear the Paldea gym leader theme, I can just picture all the bugs in the game lol
Kalos is underrated man like Everytime I went up against the gym leaders that theme gave me the chills and hype especially during the mega evolution
I think Paldean's gym leader second phase only plays after the last pokemon of theirs gets terastalized, but Im not sure. Either way, It slaps.

Why does Paldea battle theme sound oddly similar to "What Planet is this" by the Seatbelts, a Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. Sounds so similar but still awesome.

I know paldea’s can be a little repetitive, but like it changes with every few pokemon you defeat.. idk but I love the theme already
But whenever we get to the last pokemon, the cheers make me so happy (which were also present in gen 8’s gyms, so idk why people dislike this but not the galar ones)

black and white 2 really were peak pokemon, fight me. they had the pwt, brought back AND updated all of the past gym leader themes (even bw1's) as well as the gen 3 leader sprites. gen 5 music was just amazing as a whole.

Man. As much as i love each theme in their own way, kanto just hits the hardest for me. It feels the most core to pokemon with each version, naturally set the initial feel to the OG trainers who got in from the original GBC, and it just has this weird feeling like brock should always be the strongest rock gyn leader, to Giovanni being the most baddy of Team bad leaders. Having rainbow rocket comeout in ultra sun and ultra moon felt like the biggest thumbs up and fist bump to the old players and i really really hope to see his return like that again
