    This has a Ken Burns documentary quality with a budget that's less than 5% of what he gets to produce a film. Magnificent.

    As Lt. Columbo would say "Just one more thing" I was so touched by the ending with Noah and Seth visiting (re-visiting) the gravesites. Made me think of my beloved family members "mother Rose" "father Jack" "brother Michael" who the Marx Brothers have a fond memory connection to. I'm extremely grateful to Noah and his cohorts for making this very well done splendid project!

    Just got to this Noah, another great trip through aspects of the Marxes history. Loved Scott's Hollywood travelogue, visited some of those places myself, but I love his blow by blow account again of the AC premiere as related previously on the podcast. And Manfred's grave . I will definitely have to pay this place a visit when I can get out there again. Beautifully illustrated and put together as usual . Thanks .

    Noah Diamond and "company" did an excellent job (as usual) on this very well done video documentary on a great comedy act as well as a great Country (despite it's flaws as all Countries have) that produced them as only this Country can and fortunately did! Hail Hail our Freedonia and Noah Diamond-dom.

    Tremendous job, Noah! Ever since I learned of the Marx family saga I can't help but conceptualize their personal history as a representation of the larger socio-cultural changes and trends of early to mid-twentieth century United States history. This documentary perfectly sums up these views in a very compelling, poignant and, to use an overstated and often exploited term, 'patriotic' narrative. Thanks for educating people about how firmly rooted the Marx Brothers story is in the firmament of American history!

      Thanks, Ryan! I appreciate this thoughtful response, and of course I fully agree with your point: there's a lot more to the Marx Brothers than the Marx Brothers!

    As a "foot note" if you will, the Marx Brothers were for racial equality always. The original script for "A Day At The Races" contained quite a bit of negative racial remarks that Groucho rejected and was not part of the film due to his rejections. The scene were their briefly in blackface was just to have them disguise themselves as they were running from the law and the gag being Harpo in only half black face exposing his real skin color as the punch line so to speak! No "harm" was intended!

    Actually lots of people KNEW the world was round centuries before Columbus and he never went to what we now call America that was Amerigo Vespucci. I just looked that up and I'm wrong now, too!😊
    The Monkees playing at the same venue as the Marxes, small world ain't it!
    Also, how bout Groucho meeting Queen after they named released two albums named after their movies!

    • @NoahDiamond
      @NoahDiamond  2 года назад

      Yes indeed -- the stuff about Columbus here is intended ironically. As explained in the film, these myths (including the idea that he was a pioneer in knowing the Earth is round) can be traced to Washington Irving's largely fictional book about him. And yes, the area he explored is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic, not the United States.
