Gilby played with Heart in 2003. Ann was already in her 50's and a huge superstar. She wasn't going to be grinding on anyone. The Wilson sisters most definitely used their sexuality when they were young and upcoming. This guy loves to needlessly name drop to cover silly statements. Maybe it doesn't fit his personality, but it does fit for a lot of rock stars including some sitting next to him, and she had no clue before hand, so no need to harp on it. Dude, you're not even that good. You were temporary fill ins for all these bands. The guy on stage for the house band is more talented. Jason didn't even actually drop James Hetfield's name when he was trying to save Lukas' future voice from being damaged which is a little more helpful.
Are you kidding? Zayra was absolutely brilliant here and if anyone should have gone on their talent level this week it should have been Patrice. Great singer, but bland as a dry biscuit.
Haha..too bad Phil was honest that he wasn't stoked about the tunes Supernova was putting out. Turns out he was correct because Supernova failed so quickly it wasn't even funny.
you understood that the wrong way. he was talking about the list of songs the contestants had to choose to do each week. the band was always complaining to so many of the contestants that their performances didnt have enough power and energy but Phil said 2/3 of the songs were not high energy songs. he wasnt commenting about what the band was writing themselves. you are however right about how long the band lasted. they recorded an album and sold over 1 million copies but their world tour was a train wreck from what I recall.

Watching these again, years later, it's kind of disturbing that if the girls (who, for the most part, were the better technical singers) needed to bring the sex to be noticed. Perhaps, with the exception of Dilana, who likely should have won, but should be probably thanking her lucky stars that she didn't. Further, if the band is going to complain about the songs, maybe they should speak to the person choosing them.

Agreed, I'm watching this 3 years later than your comment @AgileStarfish but I havent watched or thought about Rock Star Supernova or INXS since it aired on TV in whatever year that was when I was in high school sitting on my parents couch watching with them. Even in todays feminist world of 2019 I didnt see anything wrong with Jill grinding Gilby because I remember in the time that the show aired grinding was an acceptable dance move. But overall, watching it now its super clear to me that either season of this show they were never going to pick a female to front either band no matter how good any of them were from Jordis in INXS to Dilana here with Supernova and Holy Crap Supernova's season was so much more drama centered than INXS

Even a rocker’s commitment can be questioned on any of these shows, and that is a good example of why Phil left the show! Plus he’s not right for the band either! Sure enough he has a band and that brought the band their attention!

This week they kept her because they wanted to get rid of Phil, who was apparently just there for the free publicity for his band, and apparently stated to some press outlet he wasn't stoked on Supernova's music. If you go to 35:23, Dave is holding the paper that Phil did the interview with. It was just cut from the aired episode.
