    • @nathangamble125
      @nathangamble125 Месяц назад +1

To be fair, the crash wasn't entirely Stroll's fault. The crash was a result of the concertina effect, and the drivers further up could have also reacted quicker or have swerved to the side instead of slamming on their brakes and putting their faith in the driver behind to react faster than they did.
But obviously Stroll does deserve at least part of the blame, even if Alonso, Piastri, and Ricciardo were also partially responsible. I'd argue that Alonso deserves about as much of the blame as Stroll, as the incident was initiated by Alonso locking up slightly (though Alonso already got an unfair penalty in Australia, and the incident could have been avoided entirely if Piastri and Ricciardo had reacted perfectly).
I think Stroll's punishment was relatively harsh, and that it could have been dismissed as a "racing incident", though it wasn't completely unreasonable either - definitely more defensible than Alonso's penalty at Australia, at least.

    Stroll vs teammates:
    -Point finishes: Teammates 79-56 Stroll
    -Points scored: Teammates 538-277 Stroll
-Qualifying h2h:Teammates 103-35 Stroll (17-2 against Massa in 2017, 18-2 against Pérez in 2019, 30-5 against Alonso so far counting sprint qualifying, 26-14 against Vettel)
-Average Qualifying GAP: 0.243 in advantage of teammate (keeps in mind Sirotkin was his teammate in 2018 and Vettel had inconsistent qualifying form in 2022, that was kept the average Gap relatively decent, Massa in 2017 was 7 tenths faster on average and Alonso so far is 5 tenths faster on average, still the worst average GAP with teammate on the grid besides Sargeant)
Despite all this, he still has a drive after 8 seasons in one of the most competitive seat, dare tell me he's still here thanks to his talent.
And this is without mentioning that, in all 3 podiums he got, he was far behind his teammate on merit in those races, Massa was ahead in Azerbaijan but had an engine failure, Pérez was ahead in Italy but got screwed by the red flag, Pérez overtook him from the last place in Bahrain.
His only true genuine moment of brilliance are Monza 2017 during qualifying and Istanbul 2020 during qualifying in the rain, that's it, a part from this, he was either bang average to downright terrible (considering he had sometimes very decently competitive cars).
Imagine how lost he would be if the cars were as unstable as they were 30 years ago.
To top this, he has a habit of creating very dangerous incidents due to a lack awareness.
    -Qualifying Australia 2022 with Latifi
-Cool down Lap Malaysia 2017 with Vettel
    -2022 US GP with Alonso
    -Today with Ricciardo
Just to cite a few, the guy should get his superlicense revoked, accidents fruit of incompetence are the most dangerous, because they create misunderstanding and unusual situations.

I've never been this angry at a driver ever before. What Lance did to Daniel that destroyed his diffuser and ultimately caused him to DNF disappointed me, but the fact that Lance said that the penalty was unfair and inadvertently blamed Daniel for that incident made me angry now. That one Daniel interview summed it up perfectly.
Poor Daniel was actually having a great weekend, too. Clearly comfortable with the new chassis and being the better RB driver as well. However, I want to see him continue this form since China is a track Daniel is familiar with, unlike Yuki, so maybe that could be one of the reasons why Yuki was quite slow.

He has a bad start and tries to stick it around the outside and he misjudges the grip level and loses places (4 points worth) and of course he is criticized. So is he being too aggressive or too passive? It's not like he could've just stayed behind lewis and he would've just won the sprint, he would finish 2nd or 3rd.

Consider for a moment that Ricciardo, a 8 time race winner who has been on the podium over 30 times and a veteran of the sport for almost 13 years now, is having to fight tooth and nail to stay on the grid as Liam Lawson lurks in the background, after barely making it back to the grid mid-season last year.
Meanwhile Lance Stroll who's only achievements are 3 podium finishes and a pole position. Who regular gets beaten by his teammate who is 20+ years older than him. Who has failed to show any consistency in his performances. Who arguably cost his team money and positions in the Constructors Championship last season. And who acts like a spoilt brat and talks down to his team members (something most top tier drivers could never get away with). And yet remains in the sport because his father owns the team.
Daniel Ricciardo's expletive anger at Lance Stroll makes perfect sense. Any driver who is fighting for their seat next season, probably feels the same way, that this driver who is arguably worse than them, gets to be on the grid while they may miss out is infuriating.

I rarely agree with David Croft but extending the points to much lower positions is something I absolutely think should happen. Beat someone, have it reflected in the score. The original 8-6-4--3-2 (+1 for FL) system was in an era where classified finishers were often as low as 6 or 7 and F1 clung to it for far too long. There needs to be careful balance of the distribution to prevent someone coasting to a title on a big early cushion but it would definitely incentivize mid/back-grid racing and also mean things like the KMag blocking spectacular would be far less viable.

Logan Sargeant has slowly improved his pace from last year, although not significant. Was only a tenth slower than Albon in the sprint qualifying and was on par with him for the sprint race. But he really needs to cut out the rookie mistakes like he did in qualifying. And his last stint on the hard tyres were poor after he was having a somewhat decent first half of the race. Hopefully he improves and earn a seat for next year.

Forgive the double-post but can we talk about how it has been a constant with Lance Stroll's teammates that they seem to constantly be given worse strategy options and bizarre adhoc 'alternate' strategies? It constantly happened to Seb especially. Lance would inexplicably get pitstop priority when he was behind, Seb or Checo would get switched to 'gambles' that didn't pay off or suddenly left out to 'extend' stints as they got slower and slower and Lance never was and I'm wondering if the same was attempted on Nando here.

  • @seashackf1
    @seashackf1 Месяц назад +1

Whats funny how the stewards specifically point out and use as a reason for blame that Stroll wasn’t paying attention and should have anticipated the pace…. Russell admitted to looking at his steering wheel while making a change in Australia, yet that incident it’s still Fernando’s fault. Russell should have anticipated a change in pace due to that’s what defending is about.

I said this on your Twitter feed:
The penalty for causing another driver to DNF needs to be more harsh than just 10 seconds.
Either the offending driver needs to be black-flagged, or they need to start from the back of the grid in the next race, or they need to be suspended for the next race.
The determination obviously needs to be influenced by the nature of the collision, but also the offending driver’s response to the incident.
In the case of Ricciardo/Stroll, I would say the latter’s unapologetic response should demand a race suspension.
For the record, I’m a Checo fan, so I don’t necessarily have a dog in this hunt.

before talking about it was the chasis for ricciardos lack of pace you should be aware that this is yuki's first time on this track in addition to being a sprint race. Ricciardo racecd here multiple times and even won it. If chasis change made him faster it is most likely placebo on his side, but yuki's lake of pace can easily be explained by simply not knowing the track and not having any real practice time as in a classical weekend.

I went to Chinese GP this year (my college's only 3 hours of train away from Shanghai) and I understand why the Sprint race could be a success after actually watching a Grand Prix in site. The experiences of watching a race in site and on TV is different.
When you're watching live you're actually watching a "god's view" provided by director and the broadcasting team, you can see everything happened on the grid as long as the director didn't ignored it and forgot to switched the camera. So when you're watching TV live, you're actually watching the entire race from a higher perspective, and therefore you'll care more on the situation and strategy. So when you're watching live, the Sprint race's boring, since it didn't provided too much variables of the situation.
But when you're watching the race in site, you can't see the entire race track unless you're those rich guy who sit in the VIP seats, all you can see is the corner in front of you, so you'll care more on the fight, the overtake and defence on the track. Now the Sprint race is good, if you considering from this perspective. You have an extra chance to see more real fights on the track, and the race itself is keep in a length that you can enjoy it, instead of as long as the actual race that could be a bit of tired for the audiences in site.

A little detail to make Zhou a bit of a winner. Zhou managed to pass Sergent for position in front of the crowds twice by my count. So while it wasn't really anything important for the actual race, a Chinese driver passing an American driver at their home track is going to be pretty popular with the home crowd. Even if the passes really weren't anything particularly exciting otherwise.
