5 seconds? My entire arm from shoulder to finger tips was dead numb. Scariest thing. I couldn't feel or move anything. Until I tried my hardest to move my fingers and slowly it came back. Took a few minutes. Felt like I had a rubber noodle hanging from my shoulder.

I just had this myself last night and have had it happen before.my arm was like a dead piece of meat hanging at my side when I woke up. Had to use my other hand to shake it awake again. Scary stuff. Glad to know that it’s mostly benign.

This has happened to me so many times. Scariest thing. From the top of my shoulder down to my finger tips dead numbness. I can't feel anything or move my arm. I literally have to pick it up with my other and shake it to wake it back up. One time it took a minute or slow and it slowly started to wake up. Scary.
I sleep on my side sometimes or flat on my back. It only seems to happen when I sleep on my side which makes sense the way they described why it happens.

Same exact thing with me. I was sleeping on my stomach with my arm above my head when I woke up with a dead arm. Wasn’t sure if it was a circulation thing or a nerve thing. From this video, it seems like it’s a nerve impingement.

Took a week or so to get used to it, but worth it in my opinion. I had a memory foam before and I sleep hot as it is. Purple I don't get hot on it so that's another plus.

@@TheHalusis After following the advice from the video and keeping my arms down when I sleep and stretching before bed, I rarely, if ever have my arms fall asleep on me. If your arms are still tingling after going numb try swinging them around for a second to get the blood flowing again.

This has happened to me multiple times while I'm sleeping, but sometimes it's more than just a numbness or pinched nerve. Is this normal?

Same I thought I was having a stroke for second lol It was scary. I couldn’t move my left arm at all and I couldn’t feel. I needed to use my other arm to move it around. It took me like 2 minutes to be able to start moving it again. It was frightening to experience that.

Thank you, this was helpful! So how do I stop myself curling my hands in my sleep? It's gotten really bad over the past couple of weeks and I've been having nerve pain and numbness for hours every single day :( would a special pillow help?
    Thank you!

I do this too..sleep on my side . Toss and turn from numbness all night. Using one pillow has kinda helped

Very informative. I wake up middle night with throbbing pain in my arm, elbow down. I get up walk around for a minute or 2 and it seems to help or sitting up. Thought it was a circulation issue. Now thinking the position of arm is the cause compressing nerve? Would meloxican be useful to take at night

I mean is it bad if it occasionally happens? It doesn’t always happen but it happens like maybe once a week.

Great but how do we break this habit after years and years or how to we stop doing it. I can't really fall asleep unless my arm is under my pillow

For some reason, my body will occasionally roll itself over onto one my arms. And once I wake up, one of my arms won't move for 10 seconds. Afterwards, one of them is sore.

My husband’s arms fall asleep many nights out of the week. They fall get tingly & attempt to get numb while he drives too. But they get so numb at night that it’s painful & interferes with his sleep. It’s not good.

What about when an arm doesn’t go numb or tingle? It’s more like the feeling of restricted blood flow? Like it’s not nerve situation? It’s hard to explain because it happens when I’m still half asleep. My mind isn’t fully awake to remember it well.

Some people blame their medications for this numbness in arms and feet. I think they should have their neck and spine checked out first. I have had serious falls that were never checked out, been waking up recently with one arm numb, while laying on my right side , then laying on left side the right arm was numb, This morning woke up with both arms numb, no pain , no tingling, just numb in arms and hands and fingers, still having a problem getting feeling back in tip of thumb and index finger. Just hope it's not from my blood pressure meds but just could be a coincidence. Lately my neck , shoulders and upper back has been hurting so much I can hardly walk around in the stores while shopping. Also have lower back pain.

I've woken up before and I couldn't feel my left arm. I couldn't even move my shoulder joint. I had fallen asleep with my arm above my head, so even the nerves at my shoulder were asleep. I had to feel around with my other hand to try to find my arm. In my sleepy daze I thought my arm had fallen off because it wasn't at my side and I couldn't feel it or move it lol

I am a right side sleeper and my left arm and down the left side of my hand get numb. I am not sleeping on that side though. I do sleep on two pillows and wonder if it could be some kind of nerve compression in my neck. What is the best way to position your arms if you are a side sleeper?
