- Do you suffer from hand numbness? Dr. Joel and Dr. Jessica are here to walk you though best and worst sleeping positions to help! Some people have their one “go to” position while others toss and turn all night.
If you are one of those people that has to sleep on your stomach. Try this! Line up some pillows, and lay half on your side and half on your stomach. This meets your needs of wanting to sleep on your stomach without hurting your neck or waking up sore/numb.
We also get a lot of complaints about the shoulder. People will sleep wrong on their shoulder and wake up sore or numb. Try to tilt off your shoulder when sleeping instead of sleeping directly on it. Supporting your neck properly is something you should be aware of too. You don’t want too little or too much pillow underneath your head.
If you sleep with your hand underneath your pillow, you may not have enough pillow to properly support your head. At night inadvertently you could be using your hand to try to lift your pillow up. Try a thicker pillow or an additional pillow.
If you are one of those people who puts their arm overheard, try hugging a pillow at night. This keeps your arms in front of you and out of the impingement zone overhead.
We hope this helps!
I sleep on my side and get hand numbness, sometimes in the 'bottom' hand but sometimes in the 'top' hand. I thought it was all to do with my neck position - yet I use proper shaped neck support pillows for side-sleeping but still get the numbness. I now see that it could be due to my arm or wrist position. I'll try to unclench my hands and place my arms lower... I've always clenched both hands under my chin since childhood.
I was so excited for a solution for my thing at the end and then they basically said just stop doing it 😂😭 fml

Thank you so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Can the type of pillow matters for the pressure on my neck? Soft? Hard?
Whats more important is the position your neck is in while sleeping, moreso than how soft or firm the pillow is!
I was hunging a pillow and slightly rolled on my stomach and my upper hand fell asleep. Could not move finger for a few seconds
It's been happening to me almost every night for the last 6 months. One hand or the other fall asleep and I get sever pins and needles. I've had many tests done (MRI, xrays, blood work) but doctors can't find the cause. Do you think it can be just a sleeping position problem? I'm very worried... Thanks!
I’ve had the same problem, I sleep on my right side and my arm gets pins and needles and I have a slight pain in my forearm elbow area. Ugh.
Experience the same Atleast ounce or twice a month..I wake up screaming and scared I lost an arm .
Same happening to me. Did u find a solution for this ? I'm so worried also. Didn"t have any screening yet.
@@hichamk6287it just stopped after about 9 months. I never knew the cause. I'm inclined to think it was just postural pressure. Don't worry too much
Im putting weight on my shoulders and wake up numb few min later, turn and do it to my other arm while the other 1 is healing and repeat. ALL NIGHT😂😂😶
