Just really need to say this-- These instructional videos you produce, are really well-made movies. In a niche where everybody looks and sounds the same, you're not just informative and well disciplined, but inventive. A pleasure to watch.
I love how you make complex topics easy to understand, keep them coming 😊
Such an amazing and essential nugget of information. I had no idea this was how ISO worked, and that the exposure slider in lightroom was equivalent💡.Brilliant. Love the diagram too!!
Cristal clear explanation for a complex subject!!! You are great Chris!!!
Absolutely excellent job on this tutorial. I couldn't possibly count the number of videos and articles I've consumed on this topic over the years, but this is the clearest, most cogent presentation I've seen. Very well done, pal2tech!
One of the best guy for learning our cameras!! Keep up the good work!!!
Brilliant video and explanation! I don't think anyone could explain this complicated topic any better than you have here. Not only have you explained the mysteries of how ISO works in the camera, but you have offered very useful suggestions in how to choose which settings to use and when to apply them. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
The best content creator for Fuji X tech tutorials! Chris, any thoughts on packaging up all your knowledge on XT3/XT4 on a full training course series? Would love to support you and I know many others here would as well!
Your videos never cease to impress and educate. Love your content and the balance of theory and practical advice. I shoot a lot of street work but also events (indoors) and keeping shutter speeds high enough even with fast glass can be challenging without jacking up ISO. This video has given me some real value. Thanks Pal2tech
Thank you so much! 🙏
Coming back to this topic after a few months it still amazes me how well you explan this rather complicated subject matter without getting overly simplistic. Good job! 👌
As someone that watches camera videos daily this was one of the most informative I’ve ever seen and you made very easy to understand. Thank you for all the knowledge!
I did find a good use for those extended iso values too! When shooting astro I can set my iso as high as it'll go and 1 second exposure time to check my composition without having to wait 20 seconds for a "correct" image
Excellent point!
That's a brilliant tip! I never thought to try that!
Chris, I have been with you since before you had 1000 subscribers. I have never commented on your channel before, but just wanted to say how enjoyable and informative your videos are. You are fabulous communicator and a top bloke. I wish you all the success for your channel and cannot believe that you haven't gotten 10 times the number of subscribers. Every Fuji owner should be required to subscribe at the time of purchase. Lol. All the best for the future. Keep up the great work.
You do a fantastic job explaining this subject! The clearest I've ever been on the subject of ISO invariance!
Shoot at ISO 800 with my X-T3, got it!
Thanks for all the information in this video. Keep doing what you are doing!
The best job explaining this I've seen. I like how the "noise" from Fujifilm cameras is monochromaic and looks like film grain.
Absolutely! The noise is just a nice touch of grain.
Best video talking iso invariance I've seen so far, great job.
youd make a great college professor, thankyou for all your videos and hard work, its very helpful, informative, and not boring. keep shooting!
This is hands down the best and simplest explanation I found so far on this matter. If you could maybe do a similar video on sensor saturation / ettr would be fantastic. Thank you!
Oh man, what can I say?..you enlighten my photographic knowledge every week. A small contribution to keep the Pal2tec knowledge train going has been earned. Thank you....
This is my first video of yours I've watched. I'm impressed! Upvoted and subscribed!
Thank you for every single video explaining as crystal clear on Fujifilm cameras.
Man, really appreciate your videos! I think you are an amazing human being. Thank you.
The Best Explanation Ever on ISO. Kudos!
Yet another extremely well explained video! thank you so much for sharing👌🏼
Found this channel and thanks to ur continual education and making things simple to understand.
I primary use a very high ISO when doing long exposures to check if I am taking in the objects correctly in pitch black landscapes. After that revert back to lower iso once setup looks good and then wait my eyeballs out for it to finish processing 3 min exposures. 👍
omg, I've heard so many talks about those amplifier adding noise and never realized there were more than one. Thanks!
Probably the most clear video on iso invariance I've come across, thanks.
Wow, thanks!
This is like a premium photography course, but all for free! I love this channel! I have improved so quickly!
Ive been shooting for years and this is the first time Ive seen this issue so clearly explained
Just keep doing this Chris. Another gem in the toolbox simple and direct with practical implications. Who needs all the theory? (I do, don't know why?) Who cares how is done tell me how I can use it. Most of us just need help to use our Fuji better as a creative tool. I would like to see a series on Fuji menu. You have them, but you are all over the place and they are great tool - strongly recommended. It would be very nicety go trough the menu item by item from top to bottom and explain in your fashion. Then, based on that go and fly. Kind of more systematic approach.
Stay well and safe.
Thanks for this video. You gave the best explanation of ISO invariance I’ve seen so far.
Thank you so much Christopher! 🙏
Awesome lesson! Many many thanks for the effort. Very well explained. I got an X-T2 and have struggled a lot with noise when shooting wildlife in very low light and very high ISO. Next time I'll approach differently that kind of scenes.
muchas gracias como siempre! saludos desde Chile!
This is enlightening. Literally. Thank you.
Thank you! You put your wholehearted effort each time. Thanks, Pal!!
Wow, thank you!
One of the best lessons I've seen. Thanks for this.
Clear and succinct explanation as always. I’m a big fan. Thank you
One of the best camera guys on RUclips!
Great information and easily explained. Thank You!!!!
They say it takes a deep understanding to make a complex topic simple, you did just that!
Great explanations and recommendations. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, great job with this explanation. Wonderful examples!
You do *great* work man. Thanks.
you are a great teacher.enjoyed your presentation very much, detailed, clear and easy to follow.
Wow you did it again Chris , Fuji should employ you as you just know how to put things across to your ever growing audience PERFECTLY , keep em coming my friend 👌👍👍👍
Wow! Mike Thank you so much!!! 🙏 🙏 🙏.
Exposure increase/decrease in LR the same as ISO change on my camera?!?! WHOA!!, another new 'trick' learned from you for this old dog, plus learning 2 amps are involved!-...Love ya Chris for teaching me this topic!! You're awesome! never paid much attention to the tech behind, just kinda learned what works best from shooting thousands of images. I always shoot at ISO 160 until I need faster shutter speeds, then bump the ISO up. I have never shot higher than ISO 3200!! Now I have new experiments to play with
Thanks for sharing priceless information. I love the way you explain & You are the best teacher!
This was revelatory for me! Coming from film days long ago I now understand why thinking of ISO on digital cameras as the same as ISO/ASA on film cameras is just wrong. Going to check out your other videos and liked and subscribed of course!
Wow, I thought the ice cube tray video went deep into ISO, but this tops it. Makes a lot of sense now, thank you.
Thanks for a great video and explanation. Truly enjoyable to watch and learn
This video is a game changer! Opened my eyes to ISO. Thanks sooooooo much ❤🎉
Excellent explanation and illustration. Thanks.
Thank you very much. Am using GFX and I always wonder about noise level at high ISO. Your video simplify the understanding. Really appreciate this.
👍
Excellent !!! Thanks so much !!! Great explanation, diagrams and samples.
Good explanation Chris, and also very helpful. When you turn that ISO dial it is good to know what is actually happening and how it will effect your image.
Thank you so much Tony!!!
Fantastic explanation of the fundamentals of photography. Thank you for helping us take better photos! We have more creative freedom when we increase our knowledge of our tools.
Hey Matthew!!! Thank you so much pal. My head still hurts but worth it!!! I hope you are doing GREAT!!!
@@pal2tech Thank you! Things are great here 😀
Lol, I can imagine 😄. I've been trying to get a better understand of the DR200/400 settings in-camera, and how it affects RAW files, which seems to complicate ISO a little more 😩 From what I can understand, its best to protect highlights by using DR100, with a lower ISO, and lift shadows in post for a cleaner image. However, DR200/400 is a good option for sooc JPEGS.
Very well explained with great examples too, well done.
Nicely explained. A simple test that everybody should do with each diferent camera.
Woo hoo! Double Friday! Thank you, this was very helpful.
This is a concept that can be a bit of a pain to explain to people, so it's great to have such an amazing video that explains this so well.
Thanks a lot! Very useful information for me!
Thanks for this video Chris! I didn’t know this information about my X-T3 :O
This was very informative and helpful info! Thanks a lot!
Thank you, really enjoyed this topic and your presentation!
Love you videos, very engaging and informative - Thanks a lot!
My pleasure!
excellent explanation, the best video I've seen on the subject, very clear and entertaining, congratulations 👍
Thank you so much Daniel! 🙏
Great explanation, right on topic! Just went through a real situation that only 'if I knew' :) I would have changed my ISO criteria. I will change now with a logical explanation. Thank You Chris!!!
I have been shooting fuji for years, I thought I knew a lot, but after watching each of your videos I realize how little I really know.
How did I just now find you? This is absolute gold! Excellent explanation. My training and background is with film photography, sensors have been a slight mystery to me, because of this explanation I get what it is doing. Thank you.
Being “vintage,” I say “Eye-Ess- Oh.” 😁
Wow....I learnt so much about iso in this video...many thanks!!
640 is king!!
Why not 800?
Excellent explanation !
Thank you. Very clear and helpful as always
Wow, good stuff to know. Thanks, Chris.
Probably your best video ever
Well done - very informative as always :)
Thank you for your vidéo. Very interesting. Thank a lot. A little hello from France !!
Great Explanation! Good Stuff!
Great explanation, mate! Thank you
I'm not a Fuji shooter yet but that doesn't matter, I still learn a lot from your videos, ISO explained easily. Thanks 🙏
Very good tutorial. Many thanks.
Thank you I cleared most of my doubt about ISO 😍
Great video. I’ll keep this in mind when I get my XT4.
Crystal clear now. Thanks 🙏
This was very instructive, thank you.
The take away for me is that if you want to minimize noise, it's better to stay within the iso range of one of the analog amplifiers. That makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot, really helpfull and clear information, ciao from Italy
Love this channel
You reduced the noise in my iso knowledge, thanx a lot.
Thank you so much! 🙏
Very helpful video, thks
You are such a brilliant teacher. I wish my son would be your teacher!
Sorry, pupil
Adhd-Friday! Best explanation about iso! Cheers and thx! 🎉🍻🍺
Thanks for all info bro, thanks to have you in youtube
So nice of you Koray!! Thank you so much!!! 🙏
great explanation thanks
Excellent video! Thanks!
That was clear and extremely useful.
What a great explanation video. Definitely subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
No way to watch and not to like and subscribe instantly!
Thanks Chris!
Brilliant stuff. Thank you!
Thank you so much Tony!!! 🙏
Nicely done explanation. However, I figured out that trying to outthink the Fuji engineers does not usually improve my photography in a meaningful way. I have a tendency to choose my shutter speed and aperture based on my artistic intent. I will then set my ISO either manually or using one of the automatic settings to achieve the brightness I desire. Sometimes I may expose to protect the highlights other times I may let some of the highlights become blown out. If necessary the ISO invariance allows me to pull shadows up to get the desired look. I usually try to achieve the look I want in camera and I often will have the grain setting on weak and sometimes strong. Therefore noise in high ISO shots doesn't usually bother me. I do enjoy your videos so please keep up the good work.
I'm just so glad that you say ISO (eye-so). There was a time when all the know-it-alls would reprimand someone for not saying (eye ess oh).
