    If you really detach yourself from the comment (as I had to because I am an Indian), I would say he gets his point pretty right on. I think this interview is older, it is about 5 years old and India cricket has drastically changed in that period and these comments might not apply the sam degree now. But he is right, a few years ago, the only way to define Indian players was lazy.

      @@vladdracula9586 There's no way Sachin would score 20000 more runs if he trained harder. Training doesn't affect your cricketing skills, all it does is increase your physical capabilities and makes you much less injury prone.
      Also Messi and Ronaldo have different playing styles so they have different training requirements... If Messi trained specifically like CR7 he would become a worse player than he actually is.. The fact that both have remained largely injury free throughout their career proves both of them are equally fit and have reached there by different training philosophies and methods.

    I remember reading comments on this video a few years back and there were some angry, aggressive people commenting about how bad they disliked Symonds or how badly they agree with him. This was not surprisingly India v Australia rhetoric playing out and some very nasty things were said on both sides, which was extremely disappointing. It seems now his comments are being taken into context for what they are, a critique on how some cricketers can improve their abilities and for that I applaud the current crop of You Tube commentators for not buying into the provoking title and genuinely listening to what he had to say.

    Andrew Symonds actually means "lazy" in the agressive sense . I agree to it ,with the exception of Umesh Yadav and Sreesanth(when he gets his head screwed on right) , Indian pace bowlers are really too meak and friendly in their attitude towards bowling at the batsman . The motivation to get the batsman out is not there . If the Great West Indian fast bowlers and the Pakistani fast bowlers bowled with the same attitude as the Indians , they would never have been great bowlers!

    Not a fan of what Symonds did to end his career (pissed it away drinking) but he is spot on here, I don't want to start a argument but the recent series over here in Australia proved Symonds right.
    You Indians have some of the most talented players in the world but they either don't care (or care only for T20) and they're lazy, and, while I support australia I want to see the best quality cricket being played regardless of who plays it, even if my team loses. I hate seeing players waste talent

    Also, it is a cultural thing, because in European history, sports and athletics were associated with the military, which dates back all the way to ancient Rome and Greece. So the system of having trophies, awards and striving to win was encouraged to keep soldiers sharp so they could be used to fight and conquer lands. Which is why teams like India don't have that killer instinct in sports, but chess n shit, we da bwest.

Andrew Symonds.. and in fact i cant stand harbhajan singh.. but here is a man who is saying that the indian players are lazy when he himself couldnt deal with the daily grind of international criket.. physically and emotionally..and retired so early.. look at the Tendulkars, Dravids and Laxmans.. they might not be aggressive animals or physical specimens.. but they have been playing for decades.. this is not mixed martial arts.. its cricket..

    True Man. Well I played most of cricket in Australia (13-22 now). Whenever you get to see young talent from india here or you go india and visit Domestic District and first class players training in the nets you say Fuck man I can work him over in 30 - 45. Young indian talent if u can frustrate them by nit letting them hit fours the will give their wicket away no matter how talented.

    90% he said. Zaheer khan has had injury problems all his life due to his body not being strong. Kaif as good as he was in the field never learnt to judge a good single. Tendulkar has let his weight get out of control and stopped him playing strokes that made him great. He is not saying lazy while getting to the top but getting lazy when you get there. These people relaxed and thought that their spot in the team was a right not a priveledge.

    I'm not sure what he's talking about. Sachin practiced 12 hours a day, Kaif taught himself to field watching Jonty Rhodes and practicing it daily, and Zaheer Khan learnt how to bowl nightly in front of a scooter light. Indian players have to work really hard to get to the top.

  • @AegleCreations
    @AegleCreations 11 лет назад

    Symonds is partially right, but as someone mentioned poverty is a huge issue in India. They have to overcome poverty first, so once they make it via cricket it'll obviously be due to talent, not being 'physical specimens'--but Symonds is right, after you make it you should pay attention to conditioning, it'll only make Indian players better. It's not a racist comment. And yes sachin, Zaheer all worked hard, there are exceptions.

    In India, there are many other things that people are concerned about. Sports is an extremely small part of it despite all the hype about cricket. Poverty and corruption is at the centre of India's problems. An average Indian is more concerned about how to feed his family and give his children a good education rather than worry about his/her so-called 'fitness'.
    Btw, the current Indian cricket team is the best in the world. What have Symonds achieved? He is known for his binge drinking.

    Indian cricket is on the verge of a dynasty. The IPL has forced their young players to be fitter, tougher & more professional! The SA series coming up is crucial. If India's batsmen can handle the SA quicks on fast, high-bounce decks then they'll have a real chance! And don't underestimate the importance of the England tour in July-August... India have won a series, or two in England before, but they've also been hammered in the last 2 tours (2011&14) there. The next 10mths are crucial for learning & confidence to move into a dominant stage.

  • @lokhtar
    @lokhtar 12 лет назад

    @silverbackk86 ROhit is not, seen him lately? Neither is Yuvraj. Fit also means endurance. For every Tendulkar, and Dravid, there are many more who lose all fitness, and that doesn't even count Ranji and domestic cricket where the problem is many times worse. 90% is probably an understatement.

  • @frankmat
    @frankmat 12 лет назад

    Exactly. Indian cricketers are idolised to such a ridiculous point that they think they don't have to put the work in... they will always be idolised regardless.
    In Australia we have had superstar talents like Mark Cosgrove who lacks discipline to train and keep off weight... so that even if he is the best batsman in Australia there is no way he will get picked. In the sub continent they get picked.

  • @111danish111
    @111danish111 12 лет назад

    We Indians except for a small percentage of population do not have the genetics for putting a lot of proper size . We have genetics for endurance . Two of the biggest guys in Indian team Zaheer Khan and Yusuf Pathan r still smaller than Symonds , Watson , Hilfenhaus and Johnson . Ishanth Sharma and Munaf Patel are tall but skinny . We still have a lot of poverty and lot of us has to work and work so there r lot of factors for us to be 'sentimental and melodramatic' and not being 'strong enough'

    He is saying the truth and no need to flame him for that (I am Indian). We have a lot of talent, but do not put in the hard effort. Fast bowling is a prime example where to bowl fast, the bowler has to be very fit. However, our bowlers do not have good enough fitness cuz they are lazy. Just look at the bodies of Indians vs Australians/England/SA/WI
