  • Today we talk about a Story of Self discovery, Introspection. Inner peace and happiness
    A story that starts from the Monkeygate Scandal in 2008 with Harbhajan Singh
    with most of Andrew Symonds Australian Teammates standing Firm besides him Including Matthew Hayden Rickey Ponting and Michael Clarke.
    With Australia Nearly winning it all
    but then
    the ban gets reversed
    Symonds gets admonished
    and it seems like Cricket Australia has thrown Symonds under the bus
    Symonds feels betrayed and trampled on
    and he loses himself in his sorrow
    What follows is a 2 year long Self Destructive phase where Symonds does nearly everything to Sabotage Himself.
    from avoiding meetings to to going on rants on Interviews to even Brawls...to when Finally on the T20 world cup
    he is sent home with his contract Cancelled
    Symonds then swears off of Cricket
    Here though....there is another journey going on.
    Through his record high 5.4 crores price tag in IPL 2008
    the highest of any overseas player, right on the heels of the Scandal.
    through Playing in Ipl alongside youngsters
    and even winning the 2009 IPL with Deccan Chargers
    Symonds has been on an journey of himself
    A journey that shows him exactly what he is
    and the journey that makes him utter the words on the title of this video.

      I don' think this culture change happened due to Symond's harsh works Some people suggested that it happened because of the influence of Virat Kohli I don't think that's true either, Virat might've motivated some people but not all, because if he was the sole motivator for people getting fit in indian cricket his influence might have been localised to few players who were around him and not as wide as every cricketer being fit. This change was due demands of the modern game as if you are not fit you literally cannot play the 3 formats. Plus our culture also evolved as more people are into fitness than ever before. When he said If Indian focus on hard training for being Fitter, Stronger, more aggressive they can dominate the World Cricket, I got goosebumps, bcz he was Right. And that was the exact difference between that era of Indian team & Australian teams. Well the Aggression started by Ganguly, and then What MSD & Virat brought as the strict Fitness culture & to top it, the Aggressiveness of Kohli- and we witnessed that we were No.1 Test Team for 5 Yrs straight & also in Top Spots in White ball cricket as well. He was right, the aggression, that attitude was required which was missing in some players..

    • @aryavart296
      @aryavart296 2 года назад +14

      I think aggression and fitness goes hand in hand, when you are fit aggression comes naturally. This fact is even backed up by science, excercise increases the flow of testosterone in the body which leads to aggression, and you can't fake aggression.I don't think aggression was started with Ganguly, Ganguly had an attitude of not taking shit from anyone, which the earlier captains with due respect lacked. Dhoni was and still is a great tactician plus also had a knack of extracting great performances from players on a big match day. I can't really say that Virat brought fitness aspect to indian cricket, he might've motivated some people with his Instagram, because if he was the sole motivator for people getting fit in indian cricket his influence might have been localised to few players who were around him and not as wide as every cricketer being fit. This change was due demands of the modern game as if you are not fit you literally cannot play the 3 formats. Plus our culture also evolved as more people are into fitness than ever before.

    When the "monkey" incident happened I remember in conversation we thought it was "Ma Ki!" that was probably said. I understand Symonds position in the moment. I also understand that Harbhajan wouldn't have said monkey.
    As for him calling the players lazy... compare those players to today's players. Leaps and bounds in fitness, fielding, core strength and endurance. HE WAS RIGHT but harsh in his delivery. And India and by default Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, have better quality in their players.

    • @chetanjasud

      Harbhajan said "Mainu Ki?" In punjabi, means Mujhe kya? But that Monkey heared as Monkey.

    • @bronzremix
      @bronzremix 2 года назад +2

      @G R Honestly, Harbhajan is a emotional and angry young man type. We all know that in the India team there are camps and while Sachin is the truth embodiment of a gentleman in the sport, Harbhajan is a product of Dadagiri. Human stories tend to have human emotions and flaws (jumping to conclusions). For fans of India and Harbhajan he kept growing and improving as time went on and Symonds lit a fire under young Indian players who now are without a doubt proving to be the most fit and deep international team.

His Catches, Fielding, aim at the wickets and the game he use to play that is totally unexplainable. People who witnessed Australian team back then would know what a real dominance of champions was once like and Andrew Symonds was certainly centre part of it with his attitude on the bench.
