That's the London I knew. I love these old movies. It reminds me of talking to people over the fence, It reminds me of chatting with the local grocer. The horse drawn bread van, and the ice man that sold you a block of ice to keep produce cool. It reminds me of the tin bath in the scullery, and the wrought iron stove that my Nan used to cook on. It reminds me of the sparrows pecking at bottle tops to get to the cream. I had better stop now. I could go on for ages. Have a lovely day everyone.
I loved reading the wonderful words you wrote, such perfect beautiful memories! I watch movies like this to remind me of things I never had. You are Blessed!
Lovely comment. Not a Londoner myself, but I do remember all those bomb sites from my native Portsmouth and those small shops selling on what they could. All gone. I hope that you have a lovely day as well.

This is one of the best and most beautiful films I’ve seen. I love the story, the heart, the characters, and the purity and genuine, innocent love of the Angel. This film, this story, is full of goodness, wisdom, heart, love, and a good sense of humor. It’s one of the best angel films ever and proof that a film can be a masterpiece and still be completely light, sweet, enjoyable, entertaining, wholesome, and deep without having a dark story or any heavy topics. It’s such an edifying, touching, and enchanting film - safe for the whole family (and one that you can still enjoy by yourself). Thank you so much for uploading it! 🙏💖😊
This was on youtube a few years ago and was so sad when it disappeared, very glad to have found it again, truly this is a classic for reasons that are mostly incomprehensible

Once in an interview, during the span of her career, actress, Diane Cilento remarked "I have had a wonderful life certainly, But, there is no benefit looking back - rather my life is going forward as I develop new interests. The more diverse you are, the less crystallized you become, so challenges are vital. Everything on the exterior reflects your inner self''
I'm a sucker for a good angel movie. Wim Wenders' WINGS OF DESIRE is my absolute all time favorite, but this one was a charming little low budget feel-good flick with a loveable, memorable angel.

You can't compare such different films. This was not supposed to be a Hollywood sensational & dramatic film with a limitless budget. It's a local small screen film with the emphasis on human nature, charm, goodness & light without any unnecessary dramatics or sensationalism . Its beauty is in its simpleness.
@@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794 Yes, I can compare whatever I want to compare. This movie was okay for once. I merely shared other movies of that time, that are of a much deeper impact. I'm sure the budget and scope made all the difference. But it doesn't say in a disclaimer: 'Warning, this movie was made with a small budget and for low impact."
This is a different Anthony Hopkins who was a composer for film and television, a radio broadcaster with the BBC, lecturer and organist and pianist who died at the age of 93. Not difficult to be confused when the actor, Sir Anthony Hopkins also composes music.
I loved the movie. But I don't understand why she sold the harp. Why did she need the money? And how could she have defrauded Mr. Webman? Someone please explain.
I don't think she needed the money. I believe she was just testing their faith. They were in danger of losing their faith, by thinking she was a fraud, but then the music box magically played, and the entire group had their faith fully restored.
It is somewhat ambiguous on purpose, I believe. The Angel had kept on betting on the dog and had spent all her money and now was in debt (1:08:51). She needed £250 to pay back the man at the racetrack. “I throw myself on your mercy,” she tells the old pawnbroker. (She’s testing him to see how giving and kind he’ll be.) He gives her £300 (more than what she needed) for the whole harp because he is a good man (and also because he thinks it’s worth a fortune). He finds out that it’s not worth nearly as much as he thought, but because the Angel is an Angel of grace and is there to help him (even when he’s a little sly), She gets the very valuable music box finally playing for him. Also, he did help her out twice in the film and (with her help) brought joy to children, receiving thereby the redemption (or appreciation) he longed for his many different music boxes.
@matthew9054 Thanks ! I sort of get it !! I would expect the debt to be imaginary & not real, etc. That's why I was confused. And gambling isn't exactly Godly !!😅
