- In this video, I am recycling fabric from my bed linen. I adore the pattern and print from these pillowcases. So, I used the Tilly & The Buttons Stevie pattern to turn some old pillowcases into a garment. If you are looking for a fabric recycle idea, then I hope you get some inspo.

The top looks fabulous and the fact that you repurposed the pillowcases makes it even better. Curtains into a dress? Heck yeah! Maybe a whole series of charity shop fabric upcycling!
Now there is an idea!
Eat your heart out, Julie Andrews!
That's fabulous Catherine. Back in early 1980s I made myself a dress out of a cotton mix flat bed sheet in a lovely soft pink. All by hand stitching. I hadn't got a sewing machine and no way could afford one. The compliments I got was overwhelming. Never confessed it was a bed sheet. Ha ha.
Oh well done, LOVE that you were able to hand stitch it. A credit to you x
Sounds beautiful ! 💗
That's the only way I would get a "new" dress when I was little. My grandmother made a pattern out of newspaper used any kind of material that was left over from bedsheets to taking apart wornout clothes and remaking it into something else for me to wear. When you're the smallest one around in a poor family you just make do.
Pillow case dress are very popular for little girls too
Just love the top and your personality 🎉. There’s a shop in Wexford town that sell material, wool and patterns. No pattern book to flick through but they have patterns on show. ☘️🌈
Came straight here from your 30th May 2024 dungaree vid!
You’ve given me confidence to use the machine I’ve dusted for two years, go girl
Yay, have fun sewing, take your time x
I decided to go back to watch some of your older videos. This one was my first stop. Omg, is that the cutest top ever! I like the fabric, too. It 'hangs' really nicely. I've been toying with the idea of making a simple long dress from a flannel sheet that I got at the second hand store. I'm inspired to do it now. Thanks
Floral, safari, Parisian, chic!!! You are the most adorable 🥰
It’s that time of year! The wind is blowing, the rain is pouring and the sewing machine is out. This turned out pretty cute! The last thing I made from bedsheets was curtains for my dining room. 😂
Thank you! 😊 LOVE the curtain idea!
I think that top is awesome and would look really nice with Chaps that people ride when horseback riding and that blazer for a really stunning outfit. Wow beautiful
I spent many lovely afternoon's with my Gramma looking at the pattern books at the fabric shop. It's a lovely top!
This would be gorgeous over an off white Bermuda trousers, especially on a beach walk. The fabric is amazing. All love your pincushion !
Yes! and the beach is calling me in this dark November xxxx
I'm here for the Floral Safari Parisian Chic! Your personality makes my day every time 🥰
You are a constant source of amazement !! You are the complete package, sweet girl.. we bow, in amazement, at the range of your skills. With much love, from your Tennessee grandmother !! ( what is the matter with the men in Ireland, here in the US southern states, the men would be lining up to tie your bows !! )❤️❤️
I think Blondie is stealing the show Catherine!😅 I just love how she pops up whenever you are crafting etc. I love cats and have always had one in my life until our last cat and German shepherd dog died a few years ago, each aged 15years. You are so talented and the blouse looks beautiful.👏👌💖
My mom used bed sheets to make bridesmaids dresses for my sister's wedding. They turned out beautiful. Keep inspiring!❤
Howdy
I would LOVED to see your pillow sham project tried on backward
So the ties in the from
Lovely JUST simply lovely
Girl is there anything you can't do??? Every one of your videos amazes me. Love the little top you made!
Thank you so much!!
Love the blouse. So cute. It looks great as a nightime/ lounge piece. It also looked good styled, as it nipped it in for your petite self. Would be cute with a pencil skirt.
Floral Parisian Safari Sheet !🤣 It looks fabulous love it, fun sewing inspiration 👍
Do you have enough left of the plain fabric to make matching shorts? It turned out SO cute. It looks cute with the ones you have on as well. loveit!
You are so clever Catherine you never cease to amaze me and I never know what you’re gonna do next that top is amazing and far too good to keep for bed it’s a good combo for those shorts with a nice pair of sandals and bag to wear on holiday or a nice summer day the floral pattern on it is just gorgeous well done you 👏🏻
Thanks so much 😊 your kind comment put a smile on my face x
I love your personality and videos. I laugh and smile watching and listening to you. 🥰🦩
How cute, and I never would have known it's from a pillowcase! It's a rainy day where I am in the US, so I'm sewing a summer dress today and pretending that we're not heading into winter 😂
Great job!!
Oh my gosh! When you said you were going to try to use curtains next for a sewing project, all I could think about was American comedienne Carol Burnett doing her Gone With the Wind parody (can be found on RUclips) with the dress made of curtains. Very funny sketch. I love the top you made. It’s so pretty. In our family we have repurposed bed sheets for all kinds of things, curtains being our favorite. You always do such wonderful projects with repurposed material. Great job. Hi Blondie! 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🌸🌸🌼🌼🐱🐱🐱
I also thought of Carol Burnett's skit. 😁
That really goes with the shorts
You are so cute and a much better seamstress then you claim…you could totally wear that out too!
I LOVE THIS PROJECT!!!
So Fun!!! And out of pillow cases! AMAZING!!! BEAUTIFUL job Catherine 😁
Thanks so much Denise! 😊
Ah that floral safari parisian chic, my go-to style! 😂
I remember my mother doing these kinds of things for me from excess fabric here and there ! Such a lovely top.
Aw that’s so sweet 😍 great way to make use of the fabric that lying around ♥️
You would have been very popular during the depression era. Lots of dresses were made of flour sacks. You are darling.
Oh a flour sack dress, now there is an upcycle x
I would wear this during the day.its stunning.well done. If I can only get hold of patterns on our side of the world. Yes you get patterns but to find plain simple ones...Ai jai jai.
Love the floral pattern.
You make this look so easy, but, as a sewer of old, I know it is not. And, what a great idea to use the pillowcase fabric. Sheets do come in such wonderful patterns. And, it’s a great style for you.
I so agree about accurate cutting being very important. I have learned this the hard way!
Me too xxx
Oh my goodness, the blouse is STUNNING! You are very talented! x
Thank you so much, that is really kind of you x
The blouse is adorable! Wear it as a blouse.💕
Love that print Catherine looks so pretty ❤️
Your top turned out very cute❣️ My mother (and consequently me too) would go to the thrift store on "seniors" day and buy the largest flat sheets, then she would back her quilts with them. No seaming down the center and a whole lot less expensive.
Finished is better than perfect
Lovely top Catherine xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've never made clothes from bedding but I have made curtains. Perfect size for floor length, and hardly any sewing because they're already hemmed! Well done girl.😊👍💗
It's adorable! Try yard sales for linens for your sewing projects. Cottage Core style of dresses can easily be made with little bits of lace, crochet and bed linens or old curtains. Great job. 🌺❤🌺
I’m into 1950’s everything and have made a full circle dress out of a duvet cover in the past. You can often get duvet sets in the charity shops too which is great. X
Oh wow a circle dress! You are amazing x
Talent Abounds with you dear Catherine. You did an amazing job.
Your chicness is priceless. Love the pattern.
Yes, or chicativity ;)
haha, love that!
Oh Catherine! I will watch any video project you do….but this one made me a little anxious, hahaha. I DO NOT know how to sew. It requires far too much attention to detail and spatial thinking. I applaud you for having that skill. It looks great. You’ve proven to people that you could wear a bed sheet and look beautiful! Have a great day!!!
I commented on your "How are my kitchen updates doing" video and realized you may not see the comment. I have had a great deal of success with glaze. I would imagine glazes come in many colors. There is always a way!!! Lori
I love the final "Parisian chic" outfit 🙂 Great job. I've just started sewing my own clothes and it's tough!
So cute. My mother would do that for us when we were growing up. She would sew at night without a pattern she knew how to sew she would do it to help my father bring in some with income as a couple. We're a large family of 14. I've actually seen blouses and dresses made from embroidered Tablecloths or you could also use the material from Curtains. You did good.
Close out sales or clearance racks is where to go. A few years back I bought some king size pillow shams on clearance and converted them to small lap blankets. The shams were 90% off so I bought several to create my blankets, sofa pillows, & throw pillows. I also bought one 84-inch panel drapery that had no pair. I made two shorter curtains with it & put rod pockets & used them to cover my shed window. They were floral with vines very pretty.
Loved your sheet blouse. If Scarlett O` Hara can do it so, can we!!! 🧡💚💜😉
This print is giving Ted Baker vibes! I LOVE IT!
Oh yes! I love their floral prints x
Very pretty fabric. I agree that a couple of darts might make the top more flattering….it was a bit too much fabric in the back. Very clever idea to use the pillowcases for clothing.
WOOOOOW ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS WOW SPEECHLESS..You are amazing looks amazing amazing ..👌👌👌👌👌🤍🤍🤍🤍🌻🌻🙏🙋🏻♀️🌻
It’s gorgeous as either day wear or as a pj top🥰🤦🏻♀️
Very cute. I love how Blondie 'helps', as only cats know how ! Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 xx
This was such a fun and creative video Catherine. I know a characterful lady who wears gowns she hand sews from duvet covers. They are blinged to within an inch of their lives and she looks magnificent.
Even her car has diamanté ornamentation.
I loved the placement of the flowers on your top
LOVE it x
I think it's great, doesn't matter what it's made of, in fact thrift a quilt cover into a dress or top would be so economical
Wow who would have thought to make a blouse out of pillow cases. Catherine the blouse is lovely. Well done. 👍👍❤
You are always so kind Cathy, thank you x
Great job. Love it with your shorts. Love Blondie. Clearly you did such a good job sewing because she helped you 🙂
They are great for working in the yard too... nice and cool and crisp. Yours looks fabulous!
I think this is an awesome idea using various sheets/pillow cases. You did a great job and I think it looks great. I bet it feels great sleeping in. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so funny, Catherine (and creative!). This blouse and outfit is chic-cute on you.
Definitely need some vertical darts from the hem up on the back panels . Remember they are basically triangles so being the super smart cookie that you are can do it. Maybe using another top thats a perfect fit will help you figure out the amount to pinch in at the hem. Just use a long straight stitch and avoid back stitching. Just leave long tails on the threads to tie off with for the darts. Also the more you wash and wear the softer and more pliable the fabric will get. 😍
You look ready for summer fashion with the shorts. With the jacket, office manager. A skirt, wedding party. So versital.
It’s all about versatility isn’t it!!
Very Impressive!! What a wonderful example of being so resourceful, especially during these challenging economic times, Hooray for You!
Aw, thank you very much! x
Cottage Core or light academia! Nice botanical print! I loved it! I would also love my comfy pjs to match my sheets.Very dreamy🤗😘😉❤❤❤
Great print on that blouse. It would look smashing with a button-up midi khaki skirt as well, very Out of Africa or mid-80s-Ralph-Lauren.
I think you have a cool summer outfit , I love the top with those shorts and being a loose fit it will feel cool in hot weather.
Curtains into a dress, Scarlett did it. 👍
Love the Safari Chic ! Awesome video thanks 😊
I love floral safari! You rock it! 🎉
That sheet was very pretty already, but you looked so pretty at the end...
I can picture you in a french café - boulangerie with a café au lait ☕and a croisant🥐,yes that does look very chic indeed😊.
Oh now that is a vision! x
Perhaps a word you could use when giving an old curtain or sheet (or anything else) a new lease of life is 're-purpose'.
I look forward to seeing all your inspirational ideas! Keep up the good work!
Omg do they even make pillows that large?? Wow it is huge!!!!!!!!! Girl you are amazing is there anything you can't do!!!!! The blouse is adorable!!!!!!
I know right! HUGE, maybe they sell the filler, but the pillow is so big, it would take up the bed lol x
@@DaintyDiaries Right ......lol ❤
The shirt turned out beautiful!
I just want to let you know that you certainly come up with some great ideas. Love how it turned out. Much love from Canada ❤️
I love how you say “those are jokes” but you ALWAYS look GORGEOUS in everything you wear👗👖🧥
Thanx for the motivation.i always love watching you do needlework.
I absolutely love your pillow case top!!!! I would wear it for everyday wear!!! It is so cute!!!!
All you need is a pair of jeans beautiful 😍😍
The blouse is beautiful! Oh Catherine, bed sheets make beautiful dresses also and are usually cheaper than the fabric. Beautiful patterned sheets everywhere. I use them for many projects. I LOVE this blouse. You have very good taste, Blondie too. Enjoyed this video very much. I'll be making blouses now. Eyeing my Linnen closet. Smile!
Total game changer!! We love a bargain and DIY 😍 thanks for stopping by xx
I think the darts in the back would make it feel better fitted. But love the flowers.
🌷🌷🌷🧘♀️🐈
Looks great,
you could take the cuffs off sleeves gather fabric then add the cuffs.
So Chić, loved with the jacket and shorts. ❤️
Have watched many use sheets to make tiered skirts etc.
You are very cute! I loved the Floral Safari Parisienne Chic! The fabric is very pretty.
On the seam in the middle front you can add a pretty lace from top to bottom or sew in some pretty buttons on top of the seam that's what my Mother would do. Dress it up. You can always remove the back ties and add a button loop on one side with a cute button on the other side instead of the ties.
It turned out beautifully Catherine, those sewing classes certainly come in handy, tfs sweetheart x Julie
So pretty! I’ve made lots of clothing from sheets and tablecloths.
Haha, I can imagine you getting into bed matching your sheets 😁. I think it turned out gorgeous 😍
I love it with the shorts!!
That's beautiful Catherine! I love the print and that you re- purposed a friggen pillow case lol. Brilliant! I love it lose too. It looks sweet and girly. You're such a joy to watch. An inspiration! You look tres chic indeed 😍
Awwww, thanks so much 😊
I made a table runner and throw pillow covers from window swags. " great job"
You are so talented Catherine and a tonic for the soul 💕
Awwww that is so kind x
Very chic and talented ! Great look Catherine ! 👍❤️
This top though!!!! Omg it's just so pretty!!!!! 😍
Cute summer shirt.
It is adorable! I would wear it as a top.
Brilliant, well done Catherine. Great idea which turned out fabulous whether to be used as night attire or blouse 👍😍
Catherine, it is gorgeous. I would wear it out.
That fabric is so pretty! I think it came out cute. I just found these old blue, sheer, long floral curtain panels and I cant wait to make them into something.
That is adorable. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed week.
Guurrrlllll.....For sure, ask the postman for help!!
Cheeky!
oh my goodness you're so amazing!!!!!! I love the shirt!!!! Please make the dress!!!
You are adorable! Blazer looks fab on you!
