Every time I see that brick wall I smile and think, I wonder what would happen if Catherine hopped through her “ looking glass!? Then I think, “ she already has her own little Wonderland”! 🍄🐰🐛👸🏻♥️☕️🌹🐇
Just when I thought your yard couldn't get any cuter, you added more charm. I vote you do the chairs in the sage green so they will sort of blend in with the greenery and your flowers can be divas. But white will be nice and bright too. I also think you should extend your seating area a little with more gravel and make it an arc around the fire pit. That way it will look like a designated seating area, or a beach lol. Can't wait see it when you have it all done.
I agree with you. I think sage green for the chairs and extend the gravel for the fire pit. Everything looks so beautiful and I'm really excited to see it all completed! ❤️
I've always thought of those chairs as an east coast adirondack chair. They have always been very popular for beach and lakefront cottages here in the states. They are perfect for your garden. I agree white or sage green color with beautiful colorful pillows. I'm excited to see them finished. Your garden is so gorgeous!
Dear Catherine, Walking through your back garden with you today has been so enjoyable. Looking forward to the color of the chairs. Everything looks so lovely. Hugs💞
Definitely a colour not white please. Actually sage green is really in for interior furnishings and as you're garden is broken up into different rooms would indeed be a very appropriate colour.
I think those chairs lend themselves to hand painted flowers or little strawberries, maybe something on the arms or the slats on the back? Perhaps some of your sewing skills with a little tie on head pillow and seat pad? One of your unique touches Catherine, for sure! Maybe look at a little chimnea rather than a fire pit? We have one and it doesn't throw out sparks. The garden is looking fab! I got some bargains today. My local garden centre were selling bulbs off for £1! Can't wait to see what you do to the seating area next.Soph.x
I'd recommend Cuprinol Shades wood treatment stain for your chairs. It comes in a variety of colours and will protect the wood for years - more so than paint 🎨 😃 It goes on really easily and is excellent for waterproofing! 👍
The birds were eating our 🍓🍓🍓. We took one layer of cheese cloth and use clips on the side of your stand to tack it down. Those 🌻🌻🌻 are going to be awesome!!
Sage green is great but a few flowers across the tops of the chairs would be pretty with your flower cushions. Your chairs, your choice. Just enjoy them for years. Your yard/garden is so cute. Trust yourself in what you decide. 💕🇨🇦
You can put your fire pit in the middle of your garden as a focal point. Your slugs love bear, put some ale in a lid by the plant and they will go in it. I love the white on the Adirondack chairs! Hugs and love from Texas!
I agree, white chairs. It will help the corner from closing in and looking crowded. Love the idea of floral throw pillows. This is totally a corner you’re going to enjoy this summer. Love it❤️🌸🌷🌸
I like the sage green as well - it would go much better with a cream umbrella. Perhaps an outdoor pillow in each chair with a print that would pull together your white and pink accents. Whichever you choose, I know it will be lovely. 🌻 🦔 🌷
Hello Catherine. Your garden is looking so charming and cozy. I just love the little playhouse for your niece. I remember when you gave it a makeover 😊. I think the Adirondack chairs will look so pretty in the sage green or white ☺️. As for the fire pit, maybe you can widen the gravel area a bit to accommodate for it. I know whatever you do, it’ll be beautiful. I hope you’re having a good day. 😉💕
FYI : Adirondack Mountains are in New York State. The original Adirondack chair was created in 1903 by Thomas Lee. He wanted to create what he termed the “perfect outdoor chair” for his lake house at Lake Champlain. The reason the seat of the Adirondack chair is slanted is to accommodate for the uneven terrain in that area.
Maybe your bargain-hunting friend can keep her eyes peeled for a sale on trail cameras. That way you could set one up in your garden and get pics of the hedge hogs foraging! Love your ideas and your energy. Very infectious.
Some Adirondack chairs have footstools that make them work like chaise lounges. They’re great. You should find one. You’ll love putting feet up and reading a book on a lazy afternoon. Think about it.🤔🥰
Catherine looks great. Maybe just remove a half moon size out of your grass in front of your chairs add a little more stone and put your fire pit there just a bit further away so as not to get sparks. But looks so relaxing, us gardeners we never rest we just imagine what to do next. 🤗🎉🌟
Miss Blondie claimed her Adirondack chair I see lol!! Watching the transformation of your backyard has been so much fun! Can’t wait for the hydrangeas to bloom!! Happy Gardening!! Tina ❤️🌷🌺

Your garden looks gorgeous Catherine. You are getting so many choices of paint colour for the chairs that I may as well chip in with my sixpenneth! My choice is white of course.😅 When you do get your fire pit/brazier please enquire if your neighbours get smoke from it as we had neighbours with a small brazier that absolutely choked our house with smoke fumes, even though the flames were high and it didn’t look like the wood was smoking. 🌺🌸🌻🌹⛱❤️
I have a small pond, too, and the toads reproduce in it every year; they've cleared up my slug population beautifully! I wish we had hedgehogs as well--they're so cute. And I was a huge fan of your green kitchen cabinets, so my vote for the Adirondack chairs is green, of course!

Good Morning Sweetheart, this morning I was just looking at small fire pits and found one at Bunnings here in Australia, it’s called ‘Jumbuck Banjo Firepit’ as soon as I saw it, I thought of you. You could make your own with an old tin Planter, just make sure you put feet on it, for plant and grass preservation. You backyard is a real credit to you, your personality is stamped all over it. I love it. Have a great day.

I love my small chiminea fireplace. It’s so small but it cranks out heat and I can use even all the small garden twigs as wood and it’s awesome. Small fire pit is the way to go! Especially if it has a grate-type thing around it to catch embers. Looks so cute!
Hello from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦..small world..I grew up in Muskoka..lol..it's about two hours north of Toronto! I just love how you are making great use of every inch of your home - inside and out!! Thank you for sharing it with us! 🌞🌱🌼🍓
I agree with you white, with a lovely floral cushion. I love everything in your garden and home, so im sure no matter what color you choose, itll look beautiful. Just not grey!😆
Have you though about a patio heater Catherine ? Takes up much less room and much safer with children visiting .Loving your progress ,your inspiring me so much ! X
Snails and slugs were feasting on my hostas, and a friend of mine who is a wonderful gardener told me to put a sprinkling of diatomaceous earth around them... she said she has been using it for years. Her garden is always beautiful..
I can see white chairs there, it will be utterly idyllic, but I reckon maybe scoop out a slightly larger gravel area because it’s going to be a permanent seating area. You could get a pompon or flag garland too and attach to the parasol for fun
You could get one of the cute little glass pebble, gas firetables/pits. That won't throw as much heat but it also won't be a fire hazard. Just a thought. :)
Hi Catherine lovely video. Your garden is getting so beautiful. You have done such a great job. The plans you have for the sitting area sound grand. 👍👍💚❤
Very nice. I love your garden. I can't wait to see your seating area finished. But it is already beautiful. It is nice to see someone so young doing such great things with their life. Congratulations on all your accomplishments.
You can get a small screened dome to sit on your fire pit to keep the "hot ashes" from flying around. Some small fire pits come with them . Your yard looks so pretty🤩
Looking lovely!😍 One side of my garden looks completely wild now as I feed hedgehogs and hoglets so they enjoy that area.😄 I love seeing them peeking out at dusk and roaming around 🦔🦔🦔❤
Have you thought about a chiminea instead of a fire pit? You can stick it in the corner when not in use but pull it out when lit and it has a smaller footprint than a fire pit but gives off more directional heat. We love ours and it’s lasted longer than any fire pits we had which always seemed to get holes in the bottom eventually.
I have seen a rim (the metal inside)of a tire used as a fire pit…..some rims are smaller than others and it makes it easy to pick it up to clean the area. Love your lovely garden and it’s so obvious that you love being there.
Thankfully, no slugs here, as we have lots of hosta in the shade. It is going to be alarmingly hot here in the midwest of USA, so no gardening other than running out to water for this week. Lovely sitting area, and garden. Those sunflowers are springing up! I love sunflowers, but the squirrels eat them all. I may try to sow so many, that they will leave some alone. Sage for the chairs might be easier on the eyes, as the white will be bight, but no matter what they will look charming.
Hi Catherine, I’m loving the garden and how it’s all coming together. It’s going to look STUNNING when all the flowers start to bloom and will also smell gorgeous. I’ve got the same two chairs as you and I painted mine white & I was happy with them (for a very short time) I was forever having to clean them. I think because I painted them white every little tiny mark would show up. I ended up repainting them twice in the white just to freshen them up. I got so sick of them looking dirty I decided to bite the bullet and paint them in a gorgeous sage green colour. Honestly best decision I’ve ever made, oh and I’m almost 2 years in with them and I haven’t had to repaint them 🙌 xx
@@DaintyDiaries Certainly is and I always get compliments about the colour. People are always asking what colour is that and where did you get it from. I’m sure though no matter whatever you choose to paint yours, they will look amazing, because every single thing you do always turns out amazing xx
In our home state up north we had more then 75 Hostas, many different varities and sizes but the one thing that drove us crazy were the slugs...We had outside kitties and so any chemicals were out of the question . We finally found the our solution was eggshells....Neighbors saved them for us as well as our adult children in exchange for hostas when we divided them. Those crushed shells also kept down weeds and fed the soil..Your yard is lovely....Its like a walled secret garden.
Have you thought about a solid stain instead of paint? Stain tends to fade over time instead of cracking and chipping like paint. It goes on easily in one coat with no priming necessary. The garden looks great!
Was away for a few days and the garden plans have grown so much, My hens are doing a great job keeping the slugs under control l have been letting them out in the morning for a while. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful garden.
White will show more dirt on the chairs. Have fun with color. That’s what they do in the mountains. Sage green would be beautiful against the wall behind. 😉
Your garden is so lovely. What a great place to relax after a busy day. I think white or sage green would be lovely for the chairs. I have planted so many sunflowers, they are so cheerful. Hope you & Blondie have a good week
Doesn't it feel good to tidy up and rearrange an area? Looking good Catherine! We deal with snails and deer here in Western Washington state zone 8b USA. Happy gardening everyone 👩🌾🏡🐦🌸🐌🦋🐝🐞🌻🌼🌷🌹🌺🌲
Green...I just knew that you were painting them green!! So they will just b.l.e.n.d. in with the grass and all. Lol or light pink. 😄 haha. I am extra sometimes ( or all the time, depending upon who you ask). But seriously, that sage green is SUCH a soothing calm color. Your flowers will be the star!!! White can be hard to keep clean when you are gardening and taking a break with a bit of soil on you here and there. Just a thought. I love IT ALL. ❤️
Hi Catherine garden is looking good. You could make the fire pit a small feature and carve a small semi circular out of the grass for the fire pit to stand on ? You loose a small bit of lawn but it could look nice
Garden is looking beautiful angel , My brother has so many slugs,he hates them he collects them and skewers them and leaves them for the birds. My neighbours potato crop has been decimated by slugs 😬🤣 my potato plant which is probably 2 feet away from his are ok have been nibbled but not destroyed ,. I do put nets all around them every nite to try and protect them now.
I just love seeing your garden bloom while we are in Winter.
Your yard is the perfect place to sit and read a book!!

Those crushed shells also kept down weeds and fed the soil..Your yard is lovely....Its like a walled secret garden.
Sage green! It'll allow them to kind of fade into the foliage so they won't stand out. The white is going to be SO BRIGHT.
Hi Catherine, you could put a square of large concrete tiles in the grass for the fire pit. 🤗
Great tip !X
Have you thought about a solid stain instead of paint? Stain tends to fade over time instead of cracking and chipping like paint. It goes on easily in one coat with no priming necessary. The garden looks great!
Was away for a few days and the garden plans have grown so much, My hens are doing a great job keeping the slugs under control l have been letting them out in the morning for a while. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful garden.
That’s great Margaret!!
White will show more dirt on the chairs. Have fun with color. That’s what they do in the mountains. Sage green would be beautiful against the wall behind. 😉
Sage green is starting to sound dreamy 😍
Such a cozy sanctuary 👒
Your garden is so lovely. What a great place to relax after a busy day. I think white or sage green would be lovely for the chairs. I have planted so many sunflowers, they are so cheerful. Hope you & Blondie have a good week
Doesn't it feel good to tidy up and rearrange an area? Looking good Catherine! We deal with snails and deer here in Western Washington state zone 8b USA. Happy gardening everyone 👩🌾🏡🐦🌸🐌🦋🐝🐞🌻🌼🌷🌹🌺🌲
Aw the deer, do they dig in your garden?
@@DaintyDiaries no, they eat my plants!!! Roses, hosta, hydrangea, fruit trees 🙁
@@kandyharris2195 oh nooooo 🙈
Firepit needs ti be close so you can feel it. Move the chairs back a bit and put it sort of between chairs and move when cool. Love you❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved this. Loving your little spot with the chairs. I think i would paint them white as well and than add colorful cushions. 😊❤️🇨🇦
Outdoor cushions will be a must!!
I live in Massachusetts, USA about an hour from Cape Cod. We call them Adirondack Chairs.
You are so charming, I love your channel.
Sage green chairs. And maybe put some flower transfers on the backs of the chairs after you paint them sage green.
Oh that sounds fab!
I have also been fighting the battle of the slugs lol 😆. I have sprinkled lime around my plants and it seems to be working. Hope this helps. 👍
Can’t go wrong with our sage green 😂❤️
Hi Catherine garden is looking good. You could make the fire pit a small feature and carve a small semi circular out of the grass for the fire pit to stand on ? You loose a small bit of lawn but it could look nice
Garden is looking beautiful angel ,
My brother has so many slugs,he hates them he collects them and skewers them and leaves them for the birds. My neighbours potato crop has been decimated by slugs 😬🤣 my potato plant which is probably 2 feet away from his are ok have been nibbled but not destroyed ,. I do put nets all around them every nite to try and protect them now.
Soft sage green and you can still have really pretty cushions
I think that’s the way to go 😍
