  • Welcome to my channel! In this week's video, join me on a shopping adventure at the €5 a meter fabric outlet in Newbridge, where I'm hunting for some fab fabrics to create DIY cushions for my living room.
First, I'll take you along as we explore the store and browse its extensive collection of budget-friendly fabrics. The fabric outlet in Newbridge is a hidden gem! So, if you visit, plan for extra time to rummage.
Once I am back home, I'll guide you through a step-by-step tutorial on making custom cushions. I'll demonstrate how to make a cushion, add piping to give them a professional touch, and even show you how to install a zipper for easy maintenance.
Also, I have a tip to share on removing wax from your fireplace.
And finally, I'll reveal the finished look of my living room. You'll get a glimpse into the cosy space I have created, and I hope you enjoy!

Your cushions look great! A tip for the zipper; if you do a basting stitch right along where the zip will go, it will hold the fabric in place better as you attach the zip, then just remove the basting stitch and you'll have the perfect hidden zip.

Catherine, I’ve been wanting to tell you how much you inspire me. I happened upon your channel a few months ago and proceeded to deep dive in to most all your past posts.
Since watching you I’ve been much more attentive to my outdoor plants and flowers.
I also last week repurposed some old kitchen stools using paint, some woodworking and stencils into adorable plant stands for my porch!
I look so forward to you vlogs!

One tip I was given was to completely stitch the seam closed, put your zip on the seam and stitch it and the unpick the seam you sewed first. That should give you a perfect hidden zip. 😊

A window seat would be cool and extra storage. If you cover a long foam rectangle to make a place to put your feet up and read a book it would be comfy. The area underneath is where you can put your books and slippers.

I had a suggestion from the Laura Ashley interior designers which I still love over a decade later.
A glimpse of your chimney breast wallpaper seen through the glass of the living room door on your hall wall.
I used the pale green Summer Palace wallpaper which I'm still not bored of.
It's a simple thing but provides a pop of colour on a boring hall wall.

If you do the window bench using a bookcase on it's side, maybe put it on wheels. That way during Christmas you can move the windiw seat over to in between the lounge seat and fire place as a footstool/coffee table. Using a bookcase means you have cubby holes for storage cubes.
