    I love my traxxas but this HOSS... Low-grade shocks low-grade servo, barely mid-grade esc but TOP LEVEL price. I agree with everything you said 100%. The price doesn't match what you are getting. I feel like they are being much more business orientated than hobby orientated with this release. All about the bottom line for them with the new hoss. What they offer for the price has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth for Traxxas. 7 out of 10 of my RCs are Traxxas too. I understand they are a business and have to make money but like you said the price isn't even comparable to their competition. If it was $50 more than competition I'd be okay with that, but this this feels like they're trying to take advantage of the community. What would send a message to Traxxas is if all of their loyal customers didn't purchase this one release to show them that we won't accept ridiculous prices for "okay" cars. I thought the max was overpriced slightly but I purchased one. Now I feel like the max was a test bed to see how far they could upcharge RC enthusiasts. I hope this isn't their new business model because if it is I won't be shopping Traxxas any longer unfortunately.

      It feels like there are two guys at Traxxas. One bean counter guy is trying to jack up the prices on everything, and there's another guy who is actually trying to make decent cars at decent prices. There are a few well-priced cars -- Slash 4x4 Platinum, TRX-4 chassis kit, the sub-$200 2wd cars, but the rest are like... huh?

    • @blindj
      @blindj 4 года назад +1

      @@RazorRC good point, funny you mention those cars i has the platinum and a rtr sport and just built the kit. Maxx is pricey but at least it had good shocks and chassis and truck is super tough. @@RazorRC Platinum doesn't have a radio or receiver. That's one reason why it comes across as a good value. It's expensive but it's worth it. What you're really paying extra for is the awesome customer service and parts support that no other company can match. A couple years ago I burned up two VXL escs and motors, I had them for over 10 years, would've cost $300 to replace both. But even though it was way out of warranty Traxxas still replaced both of them at half price, so I only paid $150 for two new sets, that's insane.
    Meanwhile Arrma's website is broken for months at a time so I can't even login and check my order status. And you can forget about email or calling them, they never reply and you'll be waiting for 1-2 hours on the phone before someone answers. Arrma warranty is a joke, I broke parts on my Granite back in March and I'm still waiting for them to come back in stock, it's been 5 months.

    Great video. I agree with the good and the bad you pointed out. I believe some of the Traxxas vehicles are a bit pricey. But I also believe you get what you pay for. I think the Hoss is high at that price. Include a few of the upgrades like shocks and the ESC and you'll have a reason to charge that much. I like Arrma products but I've had my fair share of problems with them too. Had to replace the servo in my Granite early on. It didn't come with sealed bearings either. All my Traxxas models did. I had a Senton and it broke the bottom end of the shock several times. It's pressed in so you have to replace the bottom end. Ran my Slash's the same and only one cap popped off. I screwed the cap on and finished out the day without shock oil. New shock oil screwed back on no problems since. The Senton had motor trouble, and bad cogging issues (lower geared spur helped that). The Senton is no longer with me!! Still got my Big Rock with Typhon arms and it's ok. Love my Granite and gonna upgrade those gritty sounding bearings soon!! I think they are both great brands with good and bad on both. I was gonna grab a Stampede and then I heard about the Hoss. Now not sure what to get??!!Wish there was a way to test drive them before you buy!!! Anyone have suggestions I'd love to hear!!!

If the price was down a bit cheaper, people could nearly forgive the truck for the old 2075 servo, and the old ultra shocks, but people expect a lot better components in that price range now. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the pre order price of it here in Australia. A Kraton 6s is actually cheaper than preorder price of the Hoss. It makes the Granite very good value for money, especially considering all the updates they have made to the new v3 granite coming out. In Canada a new Hoss is 689.99. Maxx 799.99. Stamp vxl $559.99 Erevo 2.0 $869.99
    Arrma. 6s v4 outcast/Kraton = 789.99. & 4s versions = $579.99 Granite blx $449.99
    To be clear, I don't hate on any brand. I'm fan of ALL Rc's and brand's, love the hobby in all aspects. Every brand has there strengths and weaknesses. By no means am I rich man. Traxxas has out priced my pockets, I can not afford a new Traxxas vehicle. Because of that, they are forcing me to there competition.
    Hoss = Stampede v2, IMO

    The price is bad because you can get a traxxas maxx for $50 dollars more at your local hobby shop and you get way more rc compared to this one and its got a better design and better parts. This would be a good buy if it was around $350 maybe $375

      twinturbotony93 must have been a defective axle. I’ve had my rustler 4x4 since preorder release only running 3S in it, and beat the complete $heet out of it. I’ve bent a ton of the shock shafts, and ripped the shaft threads right out of the shock bottoms. Other than that very solid fun car to run. I’m sure Hoss will be the same.

    I’m not really sure why they put this one out? For the price just get the Maxx! I’d love something crazy like an XMAXX V.2 or E Revo 3.0 on 8S w upgrades to an XMAXX type frame so we get rid of the worst part ever put on an RC the push rods!!! Thanks for the review though bro!! 100% agree on the price!!! Love what you do jj

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 4 года назад

      What? Both of those were recently upgraded. The revo is basically maxed out on power unless traxxas wants a longer chassis to fit the x0-1 motor, not to mention fitting a 4s pack in the battery compartments is problematic. The major difference between 6s and 8s is heat. 6s must pull more current to make the same power and therefore produces more heat. Except the revo has a huge esc using the old xmaxx 6s esc. Even bashing in 112f weather I haven’t gotten the thing hot. So running a lower kv higher voltage setup with the same size motor will give you virtually nothing.
      .
      They should have just given the rustler vxl the max motor and esc fan at the same price point. Then make a wide rusty kit to fit the sledgehammers

    awesome video razor! Very very good points (1:30 Appreciated!!!) you did a better job than me! I am wondering if we're going to see a hoss v2 out? Can't help thinking that traxxas have dropped this in to fill a gap before dropping 'da bomb (Which ain't going to be a 4x4 basher!). Main thing as you point out is the shocks, for this $'s we'd expect something a little better.

    Crazy expensive for what you get. Servo sucks, shocks sucks, you are completely right. 300 - 350 would be a normal price but almost 500 its insane. Gtr shocks are better but to expensive. With the necessary upgrades it's almost a 750$ car, crazy for a 1/10 car. You can buy a tekno mt instead with great electronics for the same price 😂
