- Today, I finally took the time to watch Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour!

Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour, also known as Aphrodite Live, was the twelfth concert tour by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. It was launched in support of her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite (2010). The tour was officially announced in September 2010, initially with European venues confirmed. Additional British dates were added in January 2011, alongside North American and Asian dates. Australian dates were confirmed in March 2011, and in May of the same year, Minogue announced she would tour Africa for the first time. The stage of the tour was composed of an Ancient Greek temple wall and two runways leading to a B-stage, which included a three-tiered scissor lift surrounded by water fountains. Thirty water jets created by The Fountain People, a tilted rotating platform and aerial performer displays were also part of the staging, paying homage to Greek mythology and culture. Effects and staging were provided by TAIT Towers, who described the stage as "one of the most technically advanced ever built". Fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana created the costumes for the tour.
Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour was described as a "pop spectacle" and was divided into seven segments. The Birth of Aphrodite featured Minogue emerging from the stage atop of a golden conch shell as a goddess. Pegasus included a large prop Pegasus and displayed the singer being pulled around the B-stage on a chariot. Gladiator began with an instrumental interlude and concluded with Minogue left alone on the stage. Celestial Love featured a giant white bust of the singer, concluding with a jazz-inspired section using a tilted rotating platform. Holograph displayed a series of both electro and rock-inspired numbers, followed by The Good Life; during which, Minogue flew across onto the B-stage on the back of a dancer. Fanfare featured a carnival-themed performance, and the encore featured the use of the water jets, fountains, scissor lift and aerial performances.
The tour received positive reviews from critics. Many praised its high-scale production, as well as Minogue's live vocals and stage presence. Aphrodite: Les Folies tour was also a commercial success, with a total estimated gross of $60 million.[2] This placed the tour 21st on both Billboard's annual "Top 25 Tours" list for 2011, and Pollstar's "Top 50 Worldwide Tours" list.[3][4] Given the nature of the show, the tour was officially acknowledged by two names; the tour was promoted as the Aphrodite: Les Folies tour in Europe and Australia, and Aphrodite Live elsewhere.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this tour. So spectacular from start to finish, you're going to love it.

The entrance was one of the most epic I’ve seen. Gladiators moving their arms like they were lifting her and she rises posing like Venus on a sea shell

This show is definitely the gayest extravaganza that Kylie has ever put together.
I was lucky enough to see it in Berlin.
You should definitely also watch the 3D version if you have the opportunity. It's worth it.

The entrance was EPIC!!! It always makes me cry, I remember so clearly the first time a saw her live. This show was amazing. Even we didn’t have the watery ending have a full Kylie show in front of you is such a magic experience.

I have watched the tour DVD so many times, and every time is as much enjoyable as the first. I never get enough of it! Kylie is a goddess of pop and she treats us with a pop heaven! I love every single minute of this spectacle! ❤️

Saw the tour twice...once at The Hollywood Bowl and then again in Las Vegas. Put Your Hands Up at The Hollywood Bowl was the most euphoric moment of my life. Everyone was jumping up and down with their hands up. It was amazing!
You for sure need to get the Audio-Technica LP60! It's inexpensive and so perfect!
I thanx God for tecnology to be able to memorise and give us the possibility to watch and re watched again. I burst in tears when I saw her arriving and opening the gig. I was stand in first line close to the stage.

The painting she's referencing is The Birth of Venus. (Venus being the Roman name of the Greek goddess Aphrodite.)
Aphrodite and Venus are two different entites, both goddess of love tho
They are equivalents. Most of Aphrodite's myths and characteristics were assimilated into Venus by the Romans.

Aphrodite Les Folies is definitely one of Kylie’s most extravagant shows as it was out of the world. All of her shows are incredible and I hope she can tour DISCO cos what she wants to do so her fantasy of touring the album DISCO sounds amazing.
Keep up the videos as they are amazing. Kylie’s costumes were done by Dolce and Gabbana as a fun fact for you.
Lady Gaga talked of having to up her game after this tour, Madonna took pretty direct inspiration from it for the Super Bowl half time show. It's safe to say that this is a fantastic tour.

This was, in my opinion, her best. She outdid herself. It's a whole storyline and concept that they adopted and her songs mesh perfectly into it. This first act (as with the other acts) play on Aphrodite (Kylie) as the goddess, starting with the birth, the worship and the way she knows how to have the men wrapped around her finger. She also knows what her fans (who are mostly gays) wants, and she delivered.

So glad that you're reacting to this tour, it's her best I'd dare to say, the production, the songs, everything!!! Funny bit: wanted to point out, that there was a misprint on the Blu-Ray discs labels and you're in fact watching the 3D version of the concert (note the very wide angles on 7:29 & 8:20); it's almost the same as the regular 2D version, just you won't see as many close-ups or different angles :) Congrats on watching it again, next, I'd recommend the Showgirl Homecoming!!!

I was there in Barcelona. I will never forget how amazing, epic and incredible concert was this one!!! Kylie is the queen of pop for me!!! That’s the only true!!! I respect Madonna but Kylie is at her side!!! That is for sure!!!!

She is every version of Aphrodite on the tour. in this act she Aphrodite Ornueaus, or Universal Aphrodite, born from the foam raising from the foam that rose out of Uranus' testicles that were cut off by his son the Titan Chronus when he took over as king of the universe. This form was worshiped along with Heraclues, Hermes and Eros as the protectors of homosexual love and sex. The painting was the birth of Venus by Bortocelli. In myths after she married Hephaestus he forged a golden girlde that made her ever more appealing. Every custom has a gold bodice as part of the construction.

I have to say. As an older Kylie fan its interesting watching someone 20 years younger than me visit stuff from my past, especially the stuff from before you were born. I had no objectivity about that stuff at all so its... interesting.
