She said there was zero direction when making the record, no theme like the Disco or Golden album; she just wanted to make great songs without any limitations. My favorite apart from Padam and Tension is Hands, but some songs I did find to be "growers". Heavenly Body is one of the extra bonus tracks which was another grower for me, but now ultimately is one of my top favorites! In my opinion this album has a few songs for every Kylie fan out there; which I think makes for a fantastic album!
Hands had to be one of the best tracks! I know people wish she had gone for singing the whole thing and maybe she will on a re-release. It speaks to my inner gaybie.

Derek, there's no point trying to find a theme in this album because Kylie herself said there isn't one! She said she initially started out thinking it was going to be an 80s inspired album but they abandoned that idea and made this album without one. She said it's about each individual song and that each song needed to be able to stand on its own. So the cohesion you seem to be looking for is deliberately not there. Instead what you've got was a great pop dance album with a mix of electronic, disco and RnB/funk with 80s, 90s and 2000s influences. It's a bit of everything Kylie has been known for throughout her career!

great reaction. first. and second the album isn´t what the people expected, due to the sound of padam. everyone was like o yeah the whole album´s like that. i had the same thought was hoping for a total 90s elctro EDM trance album so i agree a little on that but at the same time it is nice to have different stuff. and the comparison thing like comon there are so many other artists sounding the same, i think it is not a big deal anymore. it is just normal and pretty hard to find a new sound these days.

I had the same first listen reaction as yours. However, I gave it a few more listens and One More Time, Hands, Greenlight all grew on me. Just let them play while you are doing something else. They are kinda groovy!
At the end of Hold on to Now, reminds me a bit of the Neptune track on Holst's Planet Suite when backing vocals take over at the end. Absolutely brilliant.
