The dancers were Italian and her stylist said they dance like the hounds of hell, they tried to calm them down every night, but it was impossible! You should try Light Years from this concert. The album Light Years is great too - think pool, cocktails, boys ...........
The whole light years album is amazing. It’s my fave of her stuff even still. The album track of Butterfly IS slightly different, this is a remixed live version. You should totally check out the album version. It’s really good too :) Your remember her live version of Your Disco Needs You that you reviewed some time ago. That’s a song from the album too.
@@TJdirect Liberal State Govt sold it off to developers, who knocked it down and built high rise apartments etc. There was a bit of a protest, but it was ignored. The area is called Darling Square now, it has restaurants and shops etc. They have gone after the Powerhouse Museum as well, but that produced a backlash and its safe for now.
I have such vivid and awesome memories of this concert in Sydney. It was a blast - the music/arrangements were so good live and Kylie (and her backing vocalists and dancers) as usual gave everything. This song is one of my faves and I will always remember this tour as the one where she gave the first ever performance of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" before it was released. Hit after hit on this and definitely worth watching 😊❤️Thanks for the great reaction.
There was a 12" single for the USA market, with the original version appearing on the "Light Years" album. The remixes on that 12" are really awesome, with each sounding quite different from each other. There's Craig J's Remix (a little quirky), Illicit Mix (powerful pounding beats), Havoc's Deep Inside The Cocoon Mix, Trisco Mix & The Sandstorm Dub. Sandstorm Dub probably sounds most similar to the album version, extending it in a fantastic way. A little later another 12" was released with a couple of remixes done by E-Smoove. The song itself is definitely one of my Kylie favourites and the remixes are some of her best 😀
The recording of this Sydney concert was the first I ever saw and it got me hooked. I now try to see Kylie live when I can, and when I can't I always try to get a copy of any live recordings! So much energy, and always rearranging older songs to keep us entertained. She's a great performer.

Yes, the album version is similar. I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail. You can even dance by yourself in your living room to this song... This tour is worth to watch. Very gay camp, but also sexy and cute. And I think this is the tour when Kylie is most the girl next door. If you don't want to watch the whole tour, I recommend Love Boat and Light Years, or Shocked...
Important to note that her voice was NOT in good form (for her) at this show. It was the last date of a gruelling tour (where she has been ill during it) and they inexplicably filmed the last date when she was exhausted! She's great of course, because she's a professional, but she was much stronger earlier in the tour. She ducks out on some of the harder parts of the song unlike bootlegs I have of the London shows.
Kylie has always played great shows. She always sang live at the shows. When Madonna was still singing full playback and half playback, Kylie's singing was always live. Her shows with her hot dancers were part of it because she always knew what she wanted to offer her gay fans. Kylie's shows always started on time, she was always looking for conversation and connection with the crowd. Other artists (we know who I'm talking about) were up to 2 hours late. Sorry, nobody deserved that! This also shows whether an artist appreciates the fans or not. Kylie has always been approachable and that is what sets her apart from so many other artists.
On a Night Like This Tour is a beautiful and FUN show... My favorite parts are Love Boat, Kookachoo, THE DISCO MEDLEY (omg that medley), Buterfly and Shocked... you have to watch the entire show 😅

A friend of mine was and still is a huge fan I will say it was him who got me into her because of this show. The "Butterfly" performance sounds amazing and is very well done.
This is a hidden gem of a concert. It was low budget and campy and just crazy fun. But give the entire album a listen. It’s the gayest thing ive ever heard. Like being stuck on a gay cruise ship.

The remix releases on his Blue2 label (a division of Blueplate Records) label were snapped up instantly and now fetch into the hundreds for the 9 track version and similarly the 5 track version. This is the only concert tour (On A Night Like This) that the song has been sung in full, & was used partially as a dance break during the next concert tour (Fever) & small snippet during Showgirl - The Homecoming Tour. One of Kylie's seriously underrated tracks.
This was the first Kylie tour I went to 20 years ago and this was really the beginning of her spectacular touring shows. Has a special place in my heart 🥰

Looks like that was filmed in the Sydney Entertainment Centre referred to as "the round” capacity 13,000 built in 83, it was torn down in 2016 It was in the darling harbour precinct on the inner west side of city not sure what’s there now maybe some high rise office towers or appartments, great clip never seen it before although I did see Prince in that venue once, he like Kylie was very good 👍🏼

Back when this was made, Kylie sang with her full chest voice and belted. Nowadays she doesn't use the same strength in her vocals. Her songs are more breathy, baby voiced, auto-tuned, and sung in head voice. I still llove her music but her older tours, like this one really projected her voice and vocal power much better. Dereck is right, that she uses a lot of yips, squeals, and coos in place of strong singing, but I hear this much more in the albums following Fever. When she performs live (not unlike olther singers) she uses background singers that have voices almost IDENTICAL to hers, so that they can actually take over the singing if she decided to take a short rest, and the audience can't tell.
This brings back some amazing memories,having just arrived in Sydney,my cousin's mate was ill and couldn't go to this show.i got to see Kylie for the first time. Those dancers and outfits were hot..one of my fav live performances 🦋.❤
