Robin has always been my favorite BeeGee. I started listening to them because of my mom in the 60s. The first song I heard was I started a joke. His voice can pierce the very depth of one's soul. No other voice will ever match his musical purity of sound
What a beautiful song, I actually never heard it before. You pose an interesting question - why Robin would ever have had a single lonely night is beyond comprehension. What a voice; he is very much missed.
Love this track - so musically characteristic of the early 1980's. Robin's ethereal voice (and all the familiar NYC landmarks in this clip...) bring back so many fond memories of yesteryear... THANKS, Chad!💕
Chad, great reaction as always! This is my favorite solo album of Robin's and I play it in it's entirety on a regular basis. Every song on this album deserves a wonderful reaction from you. So, now, can you see why I use his picture from 1983? Because I just love this man with all my heart, especially this particular year! ❤️
Love this song , Robin his voice is wonderful , Robin is romantic and beatiful man , I love Robin forever ❤️💐. Congratulation Chad From Santiago Chile🇨🇱🌿
Both Robin and Maurice wrote all the songs on the album 'How old are you' and produced it together along with Denis Byron. Maurice also supported Robin on harmony, piano, synth and guitar. I love Robin's voice on this track. It's full of emotion and feeling. Whole album is gorgeous. Thanks Chad
What makes me crazy, now I’m 59, is that Robin was only 34 in 1983 and had already years of fame with his brothers…It sounds incredible but that is the truth. i saw the Bee Gees in PAris in 1989, Robin and Maurice were only 40 years-old (Barry was 43)…and they were already legendary…
Very good song, love the rhythm and love Robin's unique voice. He looks so put together in this video as well. I love NYC and watching makes me want to go there again. Enjoying your reaction weekend, Chad. thank you
Thanks Chad for appreciating Robin and sharing his music. He has always been my favourite BeeGee .. had a crush on him since I was 11 😉. I am a hard core fan. Was too young during his divorce. Will visit his grave in his hometown Thame soon.
One of my favorites of Robin’s solo songs. It must’ve been a favorite of his too because he reworked it to be more uptempo for his 2003 album Magnet. As always, thanks for featuring his beautiful underrated solo work. Have a great rest of your weekend. ✌🏼
A very mood full song by Robin. It's an aswome album altogether. I do really love his solo album's. But then again, I also really enjoy the solo work of Barry and Maurice. Man, they sure knew how to make great tunes. About those lonely nights, I don't think Robin had many of them. 🤪
You whats sad Chad. I was a die hard beegees fan from late 60s through 79. I even saw them in 79 during their spirit tour. Yet it wasn't till i started watching RUclips reaction videos of BeeGees songs. I seriously didn't know they came out with anything after 79. So im learning and listening to them with a new respect. Thank you for bringing them back into my life. And Robin is my favorite. His voice reaches the depth of my soul
To answer your qustion about where the ladies were in 1983. My crush on Robin started when I was 10 in 1979. It's come and gone through many decades. I was in my mid-teens when he did this album. Trust me, if I had been a little older and had been given the opportunity...
Thank you for another great song by Robin. Oh you are so funny, Chad, talking about the ladies. Your story about the WTC reminds of my own experience there. I was there about three weeks before the horrible attacks. Good I had no acrophobia!
Oh yes, I have always said the same, seeing Robin in those days with short blond hair, and on top of that half-buttoned shirt, is like seeing Andy, no question.
Many photos show a marked similarity especially when Andy was in his late 20's and Robin in his early 30's. With a beard Andy looked more like Barry. With a beard Robin looked more like Maurice. Beardless Robin and Andy did have a similarity. They were all brothers after all.
If I had only realized how incredibly sexy this man was back then, he would not have been lonely!🤣 I think dear Robin had some inner demons that no woman could have fixed but he tried to express those feelings in his music. I loved this video, both his sexiness and his vulnerability. Probably just as well I didn’t follow them back in my younger days, probably would have become a groupie. Thanks Chad for this selection. I’ve listened to the song before but missed this video. God he was truly a gorgeous man!
Where was I? I was in London in the late 60's, the same age, a history and music buff just like him and yet he evaded me!!! Damn! WHY???? He said he hated being alone but was admittedly an introvert, very hard to get to know and found it difficult to communicate with people - considering he communicated so well with his lyrics. Robin hated heights like you did. They tried to take him up the Empire State Building and he ran off the elevator several times. Off topic, the most terrifying thing for me on 9/11 was the jumpers, those poor souls. In so many videos and movies the towers are so prominent. 😞😞
Robyn’s lyrics were said to be more melancholy than Barry and Maurice but I remember in one interview Barry saying how being in the train crash with Molly, when he was only young, still a teenager really affected him. He probably draws on those memories and feelings more than he knows. (Here I am talking in present tense as though he was still here 😢)
Thank goodness for Robin’s solo albums. Barry ruled the Bee Gees after SNF and kept Robin and Mo in the background for years. No amount of arguing could get them solos on a Bee Gees album, so it’s only natural that they would seek other creative outlets.
I went to the top of the WTC as a teenager. I remember that you had to take more than 1 elevator. The 1st only went perhaps halfway to the top. The outdoor viewing platform at the top of the Empire State Building actually freaked me out more than the WTC.
Hi, I am Barrinian...without doubt....Barry is my favourite but.....i respect and reconigze the fabulous Robin´s voice and this is one of my favourite Robin´s solo songs, its beautiful...(by the way, this video is shortered from the original song)
Chad, us Robin girls would have gladly stepped in and been there for this incredible man if need be but I really don't think he was actually too lonely except maybe at this point in his life when he was between his two marriages. His marriage with Molly ended in 1980 and he and Dwina found each other in 1983 and got married on my birthday, July 31st, 1985. So he wasn't on the market for us RG's for too long! 🙂
In retrospect Laurie, luckily Robin was the one who wasn't available, otherwise we all Robin girls would have ripped each other's heads off and now we wouldn't be enjoying Chad's reactions ☺
I love this song so much! It's one of my favorite songs from Robin's solo career.❤😍 I love Robin a lot, but I'm more of a Mo girl. Either way, I wasn't born until 2000.
Yes, Mo was instrumental in producing and contributing on this album of Robin's as well as his follow-ups "Secret Agent" and "Walls Have Eyes" in 1984 and 1985 respectively.
Chad! I just don't know why, but I was thinking at the beginning of this weekend that maybe you could react precisely to this song. I think I'm becoming a prophet 🙄 could it be possible? 🙄 Well, whether you were kidding or not, I would've been more than willing to go wherever Robin were at any time, even if he is 14 years my senior, and curiously I first knew about these brothers when I was 14 myself. You didn't notice how that image at 3:33 - 3:38 is like it was also prophetic at that time, less than 20 years later we all witnessed the same image but with a tragic result.
I think that was the period when Robin and Molly were going through a very , very messy divorce......he said after Maurice passed that , that and his divorce from Molly were two of the most traumatic moments of his life because he wasn't allowed to see Spencer and Melissa his children from his first marriage......
@@LillyMarz777 good question? Molly hid them at her brother's house and Robin's letters and gifts for the kids went unanswered. Only she would know why she did it, we can only speculate. Perhaps the separation from their Dad had a deep affect on them, which is sad because Rob would have loved being a grandfather.
I first heard this song when the Tales box set was released and I thought it was one of Robin's best solo tracks. His vocals on that entire album weren't his best, but with better production and better vocals, that song could be a hit for anyone. The plane flying near the twin towers is so eerie now.

Robin stupidly sent a threatening letter to her lawyers because his children were kept from him. He said it nearly drove him mad. He didn't act on it so nothing happened but of course they had to investigate it. He never threatened Molly, said she was a wonderful mother and would do anything to avoid the divorce. Fortunately his children reunited with him and they became close. Molly said he was a good father when he was home and Melissa followed him like a puppy, afraid he would disappear due to his work. The marriage lasted 11 years but Molly only saw him once or twice a year, felt like a single mother and it just wasn't possible to go on. ("Tales of the Brothers Gibb").
