The BEST Jamaican Saltfish Fritters MADE EASY!

  • 250ml water
    1 pack boneless Saltfish
    Spring onions
    1 small Tomato chopped
    1 medium Onion
    1 cup sweet peppers
    1/4 of Scotch bonnet pepper
    1/2 Tsp Baking powder
    2 cups water
    4 cups plain flour
    1 Tsp Black pepper
    1 Tsp Paprika
    4oz Olive or vegetable oil
    optional: Garlic, thyme and hot pepper sauce or anything similar
    ___________
    PROCESS
    1. Saltfish in water let it boil for 10 mins (or soak saltfish in cold water overnight)
    2. Then drain off water and repeat 1 or 2 times (removes salt)
    3. Add Spring onions, chopped tomato, onion, sweet peppers, Scotch bonnet pepper, 1/2 Tsp Baking powder into mixing bowl
    4. Pour 2 cups of water into bowl
    5. Pour 4 cups plain flour then mix (add water or flour when necessary untill mix has slightly sloppy consistency
    6. Add 1 Tsp Black pepper
    7. Add 1 Tsp Paprika
    8. Add 4oz Olive or vegetable oil in frying pan - on high heat
    9 Add mix to high heat frying pan, then turn down to medium heat. Fry until golden brown on each side.
    Serves 6-8 people

    They look good. In our family we always sautée the veggies (with the herbs and spices) in olive before adding them to the salt fish batter. Honestly the flavours is intensified 💯 pc. Sooooo Good!

    These look very similar to how my mom makes them! They look great not lumpy of greasy I will definitely be trying them out and sweet chilli sauce never thought of dipping them in that sounds perfect! Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for uploading this, love this it's a Good recipe nice and simple one,that can be adjusted easily. can I just mention though, using olive oil to fry food at high temps is probably ok every now and again but overall it's quite dangerous because it releases chemicals that are toxic to to body, Google an oils smoke point to get a better understanding. Coconut oil is perfect and also gives a nice flavour but if not maybe sunflower or grapeseed.

    Nice vid bro going to make these for my friends at a bbq! When you say repeat once or twice to drain the fish after boiling. Do you mean re boil again for extra 10 mins and repeat this process? Thanks
