He is a specimen..is never nervous..rides the bike like going for coffee w friends..all should worry if he ever gets serious..and his snap..has 100 meters full out that people would die for.. Great bike racer..and he is just starting
The most mindblowing moment isnt even in this video! The moment in a cyclocross race when he fell in the first corner and he had to begin his race in LAST place! And after +-7min the first lap was done and Matieu was FIRST! He passed around 50cyclists in 1 lap in the field. Best moment EVER!
I think I can stop after watching the first clip, this is enough for me, imagine riding a thick bunch at 50kph and doing this without causing any lil wave for the riders around... sorry my english is bad but this is outstanding

@@jasmijnariel alaphilippe has very high peaks but a week ealier he'll be shit. when he's at its best though he's clearly untouchable. the way he won both his world titles or for exemple stage 1 of 2021 tdf attacking at 2,3km with all the best riders in the world trying so hard shows it

I’ve just started following the sport of cycling. Mathieu Van der Poel won me as as a fan when he sprint climbed the last 700 meters of Strade Bianche leaving the current World Champion Aliphillipe and Bernal in the dust. It was later revealed that attack produced 1,004 watts on the power meter.
Agreed, but 1004 Watts in itself is not an impressive measurement of course - many club amateur riders can reach that for 10s or more. (humblebrag: me) Power over time needs a new measurement IMO. I.e some reflection of 'volume of power'. (so that different powers over different time can be compared, and no average power does not suffice) Hopefully I'm ignorant and that exists already, but if not that new theoretical new measurement better allow sufficient scope to capture the VDPoel beast mode. I suspect VDPoel is already the GOAT in that measurement
He sustained average of 1300 watts for that final climb, but the acceleration, getting to those numbers faster than other riders can, creates the break away at crucial strategic moments.
