If you’ve followed car culture in the last decade, it would be near impossible to have not seen content from the man featured today. Larry Chen, a motorsport and automotive lifestyle photographer has been a major influencer to many young car guys/girls in the United States. He recently finished up the restoration of his '70 Datsun 240Z and in this video he explains just what exactly makes this car so special to him. About time for Larry to get the spotlight on one of HIS cars! Real nice Z, and its in fantastic company. Partial to the GC8 subie, myself, but thats basically JDM nirvana in that garage 🤙
Wow, last time I saw Larry, he photographed our 4th gen Nissan Maxima car club in downtown Los Angeles over a decade ago! That gorgeous S30 have come a long way Larry, it's great to see it getting the attention it deserves.
Larry's Z is one of the inspirations for my 240z restomod project. Throwing in a built HKS inspired RB26 for the heart transplant and an Elite 2500 for the brains :) 🇦🇺
Fun car! Enjoyed mine for quite a bit but don't be discouraged by the high prices now. There are many cars now that have better driving experiences and are still affordable.
Getting a decent example of a 240Z these days is hard, so those with one on their hands are asking for a lot of money. But you're right, there are other good, old cars (even if less desirable) that can still be had for not a lot of money and enjoyed just as much. Having said that, there's something magical about the old Zeds:)
Huh?? You do realise Haltech has offices all over the world? The USA-based Haltech Heroes are produced by Haltech USA, the Aus-based Heroes are produced by Haltech Aus.

"JDM Nirvana" sums it up well:)

Gota love Larry 👌🤙💙💚💙💚
Yeah, what's there not to like, the dude is a bit of a legend and a super nice guy too:)
Larry Chen, Hoonigan Autofocus x Haltech Heroes, nice, loud and clear, Bang!
My friend had one of those with an rb in it back in high school. In the states in 2007 it was so rare
That would have been something wicked in those days! The RB-swaps are becoming more popular nowadays - even though they're quite pricey!
Dream CAR!!! ohhh man... 240Z in my dreams
Finally a feature on Larry's S30
Well done Larry, you living my dream man

Ooof Peter Brock and BRE Datsun 240Z, not many Aussies would know about that. Brock Racing Enterprises team.
Thank you for this video!! Thank you!!!
Ilove old car that retroMOD...
And i like that guy he features a old galant vr4, a old lancer and old toyota...
Good spotting, a good JDM classic collection there for sure:)
That ascent haha at the start
Holy shit, it's _that_ Larry Chen
LOL - yeah THE Larry Chen:)
My grandpa had a Datsun 120Y wagon with the similar color
Can you please do a video on how to choose a wastegate?
That's something that a company like Turbosmart will probably already have on their channel.
Droolzzz.... 👍😎
Love the Car but it's missing 2 cylinders.
Needs to have a RB or a L-Series engine.
Dawg was the narrator David fuckin Attenborough?!
That's right. Here at Haltech we don't cut corners. We've already got Samuel L Jackson lined up for our next vid.
Now you need to have Larry's Z face off against MCM's Blair Z. on neutral ground. Perhaps in Nicaragua? Scott and Skylar can do the colour commentary.
Richard does our Aussie voice work, but he's definitely been known to bust out some "colourful" language on occasion.
TIL there is an American Peter Brock
Yum
Hang on. Are one of you boys bunging on the American narrator accent? Lol
LOL - nah, that's Skylar from our Lexington office in Kentucky so the accent is genu-ine:). All the USA-based Heroes are produced by our USA office.
@@haltech Did he do some work for the dukes of hazzard?
@@afroaliens No, I believe that was Roscoe P. Coltrane ;)
nice apart from the terrible stickers on the old girl
And the headlights
Shame on you who put a 4 cyl engine in tha beauty! 🥺
It deserve a inline 6!
Horses for courses - there's nothing wrong with an SR20 and it certainly moves the 240Z along:)
The narrator's voice is just wrong IMO.
Haltech no longer aussie, outsource everything...
Huh?? You do realise Haltech has offices all over the world? The USA-based Haltech Heroes are produced by Haltech USA, the Aus-based Heroes are produced by Haltech Aus.
@@haltech Aussie voice over sounds better than southern BBQ sauce voice.
@@RedmistAU So what you're saying is, Richard's deep voice makes you jiggle in all the right places?
@@haltechRight or Wrong, Richard makes me jiggle in many places.
Is there any good reason this was done with a wobbly old selfie stick ?
This isn't TikTok FFS !
Wobly old selfie stick in the right hands can be a powerful tool:)
@@haltech Well these obviously aren't the right hands then. This video made me feel ill.
