"Kris" or Susie could also be the person with the cut face or part of an eye. As of the end of Chapter 1, Susie's hair in front of her face reveals her eyes and I can't tell if there's a scratch or if it's just hair and eye. And "Kris" has a red eye, but their eyes haven't been revealed yet aside from the red flashes.

There's a theory I've heard wherein the 'Unused' code might be December The idea here is that December's absence has left Noelle very forlorn. She has many strange web searches the queen can't parse, she has a calendar in her room where every day is December 25th, possibly implying she may be searching for her sister online frequently, in the manner a person may not do if they were deceased. She also mentions a lot of things in the dark world seem 'Familiar,' such as a ribbon you can find, or Spamton's door, which is a weird trend. December also lacks a gravestone, which would not be the case if she died. A lot of people seem to remember lightners in the past, and how they have become rare. So, people have put forward that December is buried under darkness from some previous excursion into the dark world, from when Kris, Asriel, Dess, and Noelle went exploring and perhaps found some door inside. The scratching she hears might be Kris and the others passing just close enough to hear, or perhaps the sound of a fountain opening, or similar. I've ever seen it suggested that the end songs are from December's perspective An interesting interpretation... I think these hidden code things are all just early hints, and not really required knowledge for understanding the plot but will just elucidate on aspects of it. ...Unless it goes fully into Gaster stuff and has a whole second story going on explaining alternate timeline things
I think it's plausible too, that's why I switched the voice/location between the two "unused" reads the way I did. : P I wanted to include that as a possible interpretation. But if I went into the can of worms that is "who is this mysterious person" the video would be even longer lol. Not that that stopped me from looking into the Spamton thing for an additional 1/3 of run time.

10:05 i think something of note here is Spamton's "TOO MANY EXCESS VACATION DAYS?" is likely a pun on Access Violation, an error where a program reaches outside of their allocated memory, typically into garbage code, so the handler throws an error. Considering all of the references to Spamton being able to access the dialogue of this character who seems to be trapped in the unused code (specifically, _outside_ of it, in the comments), and the fact the "Excess Vacation Days" joke happens while talking about the Knight of all things is very, very interesting and has a lot of implications. And before anyone tries to shoot down the Access Violation reference, consider the fact, that the sentence still works without "Excess" in it. In fact, it almost seems DELIBERATE in it's implications of this, since "TOO MANY VACATION DAYS?" not only works, but makes more sense grammatically.
This is a good theory! I would argue that "vacation days" take the precedence though: the lower case text immediately follows after Spamton is about to mention something about The Knight. I think Spamton knows Kris is the knight, or at the very least was about to mention that "They look like you", leading to Kris silently threatening Spamton and causing him changing the subject. Why does spamton follow this up with excess vacation days? Because he knows Kris has been worrying about Asriel :) I bet gaster and him shared words about them
It specifically reminded me of that scene with the echo flowers where, if you kill Toriel, Flowey leaves a message imitating her saying "Where am I? It's so cold here... and so dark... Someone help me... Anyone... please... Help me..." Spooky stuff!
@@leedlelel2373 Maybe Asriel is trapped in the Dark World. Also on the subject of Asriel, Asriel had a room in Queen's Mansion, not Ralsei. If Ralsei was really Asriel, does Ralsei know who Kris is? Or was Kris the discarded vessel and this "Kris" is someone else that Asriel doesn't know? (There are so many questions to ask about Deltarune, but that's also part of what is so good about it.)
Giving the java cookie to noelle makes her say "i cant read the symbols these are written in..." While with susie and ralsei its just "guts" and "fluffy" Also the laugh after abc_123 was posted transitions into entry number 17's dialogue sound, i find it really weird how almost nobody notices this
I've been thinking constantly about the vessel we create in the beginning, like what if it comes back in the last few chapters as an antagonist? Or what if it's this unknown entity trapped in the code? Either way, I'm probably wrong and this video is great, keep it up!

To be honest, I really like your "voice" through text to speech. For many people, text to speech IS their real voice, I wish it were respected as an excellent accessibility tool that helps people communicate clearly! That being said having friends read your script for you also seems like a good solution if its what you're more comfortable with! I really respect the attitude you seem to have towards youtube and towards the deltarune/undertale community. And I admire your Determination! Please don't give up doing everything you can to survive and thrive and make things you enjoy making!
One of the most clever and well-respected people to have ever lived on this planet's voice was _iconic_ and... a speech synthesiser. Why do people not think of Stephen Hawking more often? And even completely disconnected and divorced from comparison and context, it's not actually that hard to get used to the TTS voice, right? I had, like, _one_ video I watched of Bread's where I felt a bit of cognitive dissonance, and since that moment, this voice has become synonymous with Bread. I don't even notice that it's TTS anymore most of the time except for when it does the weird timing, pronunciation or cadence thing that TTS is prone to. What I mean to say is: I'm almost sure if I heard this particular TTS voice bank elsewhere, I'd think of Bread first. ;D P.S. Yes, Bread's content and attitude are a unique slice of awesome and I can't wait to _inhale_ more of both

knowing I can share my perspective without harassment means I can share my (probably bad) theory on Ralsei being a lightner instead of a darkner. welp here I go, 1. In Chapter 1, whenever they talk about the lightners (note that Ralsei would be in the party by this point as it's right before Card Castle) they always JUST mention lightners, no darkners, implying that Ralsei is a lightner. 2. How tf does Ralsei know so much about the light world? 3. If Ralsei was a darkner wouldn't he have turned to stone because of the Cyber World? 4. And how DOES Ralsei get to the Cyber World anyways? there are NO entries to there from Castle Town OTHER than the Librarby (lol) in the light world
@@sunkfnf2406 I've always sort of assumed that, because Ralsei has no physical form. That he is contained within kris as an essence within their being, kind of Kris' idealization of asriel, what he wished he had. This explains why Ralsei can travel between dark worlds, because he is connected to kris, this may also explain why he doesn't turn to stone, as he isn't connected to a physical object. Unlike Rouxls Kaard and Lancer. I think lightners is the easiest way to address the group, And sometimes they are specifically talking to Kris and Susie and not Ralsei.

They probably know what it is but they have never seen it for real The shadow crystals lets someone see outside the dark world, but not beyond that As in, in chapter 2 you can barely see the library, but not outside of it or anything like.
Seam has seen/ or at least knows what it is. "You don't want to get caught when the sun goes down." -Seam telling us to not be in a Dark World during that time.
The character in the code is trapped with Schrodinger's Cat, that's why they can hear scratching sounds. To comment code in GML, you use two forward...slashes (//code), making it so the code is there and isn't at the same time. I think the character is Dess & in her current state, she is not even a Goner as even they have actual code You are doing great, btw. Proceed
That's just commenting the code, not really schrodinger's cat related I think it shows that whatever it was, it's been disabled from existence just like that There's traces of it, but they don't actually exist
those comments arent like that in the actual code that toby would have written. its just an artifact of the decompilation tool; the contents of strings are displayed as comments.
11:12 the "Parent object" entity you have described *is* in fact a thing in coding, and it is called "interface": the purpose of said interfaces is to provide a "container" or a base on which you'd add all the individual details specific to one determinate object; much like many cars have the same shape of the chassis. It's important to be realistic about starting a movement for fair treatment under RUclips, but don't underestimate the chances of a miracle, either. After all, thirteen colonies defeated the largest empire in human history and rose to become a world superpower. Having a clear goal/terms for treatment is just as important as the fight itself. Most revolutions fail to make any substantial impact in the world because they lack a direction after they won, so if RUclips finally concedes, make sure you aren't left asking "what now?" A clear vision and a solid foundation is necessary, so that the flame doesn't die out and things fall apart. They're also just done well in general and its fun seeing how a topic leads into another as the video goes on. Also excited to see how your content will eventually expand! At first I found the text to speech voice annoying, but now I’ve grown attached to it. Though it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get someone to read the script out loud or something
XD we're thinking about it, I had Sylvia read my 4 minute appeal video out loud. It was much more emotive of course, but unlike a bot, I had to make her do several takes, and it was exhausting. It's kind of funny though, around the 2:12 mark of said video I was like "I can barely hear you, I need you to redo these lines with GUSTO. Imagine Papyrus yelling "you can DO IT HUMAN" and suddenly the video has this huge burst of energy. XD So I made it fade out and suddenly cut back in to make the bug a feature. (little things like this are wasted on videos for bots. D: ) But uh, anyway, 20 minutes of voice work sounds exhausting. If I do this, I might end up splitting the load between multiple voice actors, or handing them parts in isolated chunks so they don't exhaust themselves.

@@sjcl2563 He did say in the video that his health precludes simply reading his own script. Which royally sucks, because I think the text-to-speech is probably the real issue with monetization. That would normally make sense, but they need to be able to make logical exceptions.
@@HalfBreadChaos I personally was a little annoyed by the text to speech voice on the first video I watched on the channel, but I actually really like it now. It's like a staple for the channel imo, and while replacing it with an actual person reading gives the video better quality and more effort, etc, the text to speech has a level of charm to it.
Crazy thought, but what if: the voice from the void is Kris? Not us, the player, but actually Kris when we're not, erm... borrowing their body? Because, maybe I interpreted it wrong, but it seems pretty clear to me that Kris and the player are two different entities, and that Kris really doesn't want us there. So what happens to Kris's consciousness when we're in control? Well, all this stuff about it being trapped in a place that's "dark" and "lonely" seems like a pretty good bet to me. And when you consider that Spamton's greatest fear is being used as a puppet, much like we're doing to Kris, and that he briefly hints at some similar stuff about everything being dark, plus the way he resonates with Kris... Idk, chances are I'm waaay off; just thought it was interesting.
Kris is conscious and aware that we are controlling him and even forcing him to say certain things. This can be told by other people's reactions of Kris when he talks. I'm betting that voice is either the vessel we created but never inhabited or flowey being slain on the genocide route. Because he doesn't have a soul. We don't know if he actually went into an afterlife or something like that.
I'm wondering just how much we could read from the differences and details in the Japanese version of the game. There's apparently quite a few dialogue style changes (like Queen speaking in HTML comments lol), but I'm especially interested in how speech patterns are implemented. After all, there's only so much you can do with English... Japanese has three scripts and that opens up totally new opportunities. Besides the meta stuff regarding whether or not some text gets translated at all. For instance, I heard that the unused "person in the dark calling for help and hearing scratching" is actually translated into Japanese, unlike pretty much all the other unused text, which outlines its potential significance.
I watched a few japanese youtubers playing Undertale and Deltarune. The translation is amazing. Like Sans's bone jokes. I can't really remember the detail but what really amaze me is Spamton. Like when he said "I" in japanese it's "わたし" (watashi) but it's written "ワタ94" 94 can be read as "kushi" so it's "watakushi". I think it's more formal than "watashi" Temmie's lines are pretty hard to read from what I get from the youtubers. The words are written like kinda this "ほｲ テﾐだ！" they mixed big and small symbol for Temmie. Oh, they did that too with Spamtom, but Spamton is worse lol.
@@Nofian-s1g To expand more on it, Spamton's dialogue in English has the occasional random insertion of death, such as "CLICK HERE TO [[Die]]", but Japanese Spamton takes it to a whole new level. Not only does Spamton keep replacing "die" for "dai" and "death" for "desu", but the numbers 9 and 4 also have alternate readings (shichi-shi) that both sound like the word for death (effectively making 94 "deathy-death"). Furthermore, being able to use four different writing systems to make Spamton's dialogue a seemingly near-incomprehensible mess _that is still readable by native speakers_ means that Spamton's poor grasp on spelling and grammar is taken to a whole new level. He barely even needs to be written to sound deranged because the medium itself already conveys it. The localization is good y'all

You know, hearing the dialogue on the character creation screen got me thinking What if it *is* the creation speaking? I know in the beginning it says that the creation was discarded of, but they still must exist is some form, evidenced by the real name of castle town.
@@HalfBreadChaos I've heard it is I'm the file, qnd if you start a file from chapter 2, since you don't creatd a vessel, the vessel code is given all the 1st choices in the save file, except for one of the choices
It's interesting that you mention the Japanese writing systems. There's something really suspicious I noticed about that: the UI only uses hiragana and katakana in Undertale and in the Light World, while all three are used in 1) the Dark World 2) The introduction with Gaster in Ch 1, and 3) The genocide ending with Chara. Additionally, these three places have options turn yellow when you're given a choice, as opposed to how they'd normally just stay white. (This part of the UI continues into the light world after leaving the Dark World in Ch 1, and Toby noted this on stream.) Really suspicious, but I have no idea why it happens. No clue! Regardless, thanks for this analysis; it turned out great, and I learned a lot!
Something very interesting is that in chapter 1 all the “unused” dialogue is commented out with “//” which in gms2, the software deltarune is coded in, basically tells the program to disregard that specific line of code, completely ignoring it. But in chapter 2 the lines aren’t commented out implying that between the two chapters the character trapped in the code may have gained some sort of control allowing the program or the world of deltarune to at least acknowledge its existence. I wonder if throughout the chapters of the game this character will regain more and more control until finally reamerging.
I don’t know how you do it, but somehow you get the voice that’s literally made to be monotone and emotionless and give it so much life and passion. I love it so much. And I do like recruiting other voices but not making them constant. Really makes the parts they appear in a lot more notable and interesting.
The original message is actually still there in the external language-json file that is still for some reason used. And right above it is: "obj_unusedclassevent_slash_Step_0_gml_81_0": "The Return", An unused string for the Gamewindow(I think). This is very interessting because this directly confirms that it is someone who properly belongs to a world who got lost, instead of the gonerbody that we created that was yeeted by maybe-chara. I am a fan of the theorytrain that this is Noelle's sister, because Noelle's importance was clearly planned from the beginning because probably-gaster gives the same reaction to her name as the names of Kris and Susie.
Hm... I think that event refers to when Susie and Kris leave the Darkworld for the first time and wake up in the "unused classroom." So this code is the event in which Susie and Kris "return" to the school. I made similar mistakes in the research faze, lol. "Warning: looking at the code too long will make you see ghosts!" That classroom being called the "unused classroom" is some interesting word-choice though given the significance of "unused" here.
i really liked the first part where you vented, but at the same time also created a kind of story? idk, it really felt like I could understand you better when you did this. also, it's okay if not everyone likes you, or if everyone begins to not watch you. No single channel will stay afloat forever, if they haven't reached a threshold of known-ness. I really do hope you'll become a [[BIG SHOT]], but in this day and age, it'll really be hard.

What happens if the person in the code is our created character since it was thrown away into code and it says it's dark like how spamton says it because they have no soul yet just like spamton wanted ours so it wouldn't be dark
Interesting point, usually in Undertale/Deltarune we focus on a SOUL as a commodity, but here we'd have a SOULess character created as an empty vessel.
I actually almost made that connection, then I remember that Spamton's laugh is spelled like "hae hae" and the transcript for the abc thing is spelled "hehe." Completely forgetting that the "transcript" of that file (which is to say "how it looks when someone types it out") is fanmade, so I foolishly assumed Spamton's laugh wasn't connected. And I literally did not realize my mistake until I tried to explain why I didn't do that lol. Oops!
Holy HECK that monologue was so good. You are an amazing writer; that was so powerful that I could feel the burning determination through the monotone, half-dead robot voice. And such good ending: “let the games begin!” Amazingly well done! To solve the problem, you could start a patreon, gofundme, or another form of donation service, and use the money to hire a voice actor. Having no text to voice would probably help prevent bots from flagging you.

with the implication that Toby is putting out a challenge to the hackers and dataminers to help uncover the story, but the game design and story of deltarune itself is still accessible and coherent to the more casual player who won't dig into the code and files (like me), there's a fully non 0% chance that Toby will hide a whole game, expanded content, or segment *inside* the code that won't be essential to the story, but will add so much. So this can only be accessed by the dataminers, but because of internet sharing and popularity, will reach the more casual player as well. Toby huge brain
Just a headcanon, but I think that in entry 17, Gaster may be talking directly to us, hence the pause of him acknowledging us floating around where we aren't supposed to be, and kicking us out of the game. The "two" would be Frisk and Chara, or maybe even the Player.

'Unused' code might be the character we made at the start, we might have to fight or take control of it to fight kris in chapter 7, my theory is that the chapters with new people are the soul types and the secret bosses are like the seven sins like jevil is greed, spemton is envy and sans is sloth while Noelle is patience and Lancer is bravery. seven souls and seven sins

I love each of these deep dives, feels like there's something about the world of the game to pick apart that is interesting even if its not necessarily trying to predict how the story will turnout. It's like tearing through and studying the fabric of reality of the game world, you can find out how stuff works and things you didn't see before but we don't totally get it right off the bat. This isn't related to the video but I thought I'd just throw it in here cuz I've yet to see others mention it. Isn't it kinda weird Susie talks about blood now and again? She calls the heart donut jam in chapter one blood, blood explosion magic, telling lancer "everyone bleeds, right?". I guess lancer had his blood bucket thing, but Susie seems to mention more about blood than anyone else. And with how that one kid in the lightworld is confused about blood in humans, it seems fairly concrete that monsters aren't known for having blood in them. It just seems off with Kris being the only human around town that susie would be very familiar with blood. obviously she thinks its cool but ever since i noticed its made that unused sprite of Susie healing her own wound I didnt think much of before seem sus.
I figure only some monsters bleed. There's that one kid who asks how it feels to be made of blood, but that doesn't mean that every different species of monster all lacks blood, y'know?

I've been seeing so many layers of irony piled onto talking about struggles these past few years. Something to add, in Japanese the "It's so dark, please say something" dialogue and the updated version use words that have feminine and childish connotations. Whoever's trapped may be a young girl, or at least someone who speaks that way (for example, Flowey talks similarly when using his friendly facade). Dess is thought to be more masculine and mature, but maybe its just a case of fanon vs canon, or maybe she's talking like this out of emotional distress. Or it could just not be Dess talking, but anyway. The voice who calls for help through Spamton talks the same way, and this voice uses a combination of hiragana, katakana, and kanji, same as the one saying "is that a cut on your face or part of your eye?" Problem is, one's supposedly talking to Gaster (or Chara, their jumpscare face also fits the 'gash weaves down as if you cry' description. It could also fit the eyes found in the dark world's cliffs and on one of the titans, but I'm not sure what to make of that yet) and the other is alone in a void. Maybe they saw the face in the dark at some point and just wasn't sure if it was real or if the person is still there? (something like encountering mysteryman in undertale) Or is the person asking about the eye just separate from the person calling for help? Either way, I'm really interested in this unused code world.
i think that it's the vessel we created, as the screen goes dark and he (idk who exactly the person talking to is) throws him away into the abyss, and scratching refers to us fighting the king/other monsters

Oh my goodness. I feel like every day I learn something new and creepy about the Deltarune code. This is super cool stuff! This video is super well made, I hope youtube stops screwing you over ;~;
You can edit your save file to have all of the random quantities, putting them in the bar will only give them an empty text that instantly deletes itself, except for Jevil who has an empty text that soft locks you.
One of the ideas I have about the Unused text is that it belongs to the discarded vessel from start of Chapter 1, and that the Soul that "Kris" has, belongs to that vessel. Another thing I was going to mention is that we don't know when that text would take place within the given chapter, but the second chapter's text referring to not being heard, and hearing scratching, so that could be related to when the sink is too loud and the Soul is trapped, and the tires get Slashed.
This Video snapped something in my brain. A light bulb shined for if only a moment. I think it was one of your newer videos about an entity that may possibly being a danger to the citizens of the over world. Then tis talking about the "empty vessels". I'm not positive if it was ever officially determined or just false lore made by the fandom about G. Being shattered across space and time. What if this ALL of this is an attempt to create a new suitable vessel for HIM to return. He is running various tests on subjects that no one would miss, notice, or kind of care about. Jevil went mad and was to an extent abandoned and exiled from his realm, Spamton became corrupted spam and became abandoned and sue do forgotten about by his friends and fans, maybe to a lower extend he was attempting to go beyond this and corrupt someone who was an outsider beyond the dark. Perhaps he began trying to take control of Kris and his last two failed projects thus far showed that he had to attempt to make them more personable to reconform them to Behave. Maybe G. is a form of us trying to make Kris a proper vessel to be used and they are fighting back with everything they have to resist to be themselves to have their own freedom returned. Or perhaps they had been tainted by G. and we are attempting to change their dark yet darker path and same them from the same similar fates of Jevil and Spamton. I am not sure just some spit balling please be gentle lol
Those squiggles do vaguely resemble that kanji. 子の but only vaguely. Honestly the の looks more like a ゆ and if it were meant to be read that way I'd expect it to look different between localizations, since Undertale/Deltarune are pretty good about updating images between the two to make sure players from different regions share the same experience. Good eye though!

As of the end of Chapter 1, Susie's hair in front of her face reveals her eyes and I can't tell if there's a scratch or if it's just hair and eye. And "Kris" has a red eye, but their eyes haven't been revealed yet aside from the red flashes.

There's a theory I've heard wherein the 'Unused' code might be December
The idea here is that December's absence has left Noelle very forlorn. She has many strange web searches the queen can't parse, she has a calendar in her room where every day is December 25th, possibly implying she may be searching for her sister online frequently, in the manner a person may not do if they were deceased. She also mentions a lot of things in the dark world seem 'Familiar,' such as a ribbon you can find, or Spamton's door, which is a weird trend.
December also lacks a gravestone, which would not be the case if she died. A lot of people seem to remember lightners in the past, and how they have become rare.
So, people have put forward that December is buried under darkness from some previous excursion into the dark world, from when Kris, Asriel, Dess, and Noelle went exploring and perhaps found some door inside. The scratching she hears might be Kris and the others passing just close enough to hear, or perhaps the sound of a fountain opening, or similar. I've ever seen it suggested that the end songs are from December's perspective
An interesting interpretation... I think these hidden code things are all just early hints, and not really required knowledge for understanding the plot but will just elucidate on aspects of it.
...Unless it goes fully into Gaster stuff and has a whole second story going on explaining alternate timeline things
I think it's plausible too, that's why I switched the voice/location between the two "unused" reads the way I did. : P I wanted to include that as a possible interpretation.
But if I went into the can of worms that is "who is this mysterious person" the video would be even longer lol. Not that that stopped me from looking into the Spamton thing for an additional 1/3 of run time.

10:05 i think something of note here is Spamton's "TOO MANY EXCESS VACATION DAYS?" is likely a pun on Access Violation, an error where a program reaches outside of their allocated memory, typically into garbage code, so the handler throws an error. Considering all of the references to Spamton being able to access the dialogue of this character who seems to be trapped in the unused code (specifically, _outside_ of it, in the comments), and the fact the "Excess Vacation Days" joke happens while talking about the Knight of all things is very, very interesting and has a lot of implications.
And before anyone tries to shoot down the Access Violation reference, consider the fact, that the sentence still works without "Excess" in it. In fact, it almost seems DELIBERATE in it's implications of this, since "TOO MANY VACATION DAYS?" not only works, but makes more sense grammatically.

This is a good theory! I would argue that "vacation days" take the precedence though: the lower case text immediately follows after Spamton is about to mention something about The Knight. I think Spamton knows Kris is the knight, or at the very least was about to mention that "They look like you", leading to Kris silently threatening Spamton and causing him changing the subject.
Why does spamton follow this up with excess vacation days? Because he knows Kris has been worrying about Asriel :) I bet gaster and him shared words about them
The "It's so dark" and "calling for help" vibe reminds me of Flowey too. Call into the dark, "but nobody came", ect.

I've been thinking constantly about the vessel we create in the beginning, like what if it comes back in the last few chapters as an antagonist? Or what if it's this unknown entity trapped in the code? Either way, I'm probably wrong and this video is great, keep it up!

To be honest, I really like your "voice" through text to speech. For many people, text to speech IS their real voice, I wish it were respected as an excellent accessibility tool that helps people communicate clearly! That being said having friends read your script for you also seems like a good solution if its what you're more comfortable with! I really respect the attitude you seem to have towards youtube and towards the deltarune/undertale community. And I admire your Determination! One of the most clever and well-respected people to have ever lived on this planet's voice was _iconic_ and... a speech synthesiser. Why do people not think of Stephen Hawking more often?
And even completely disconnected and divorced from comparison and context, it's not actually that hard to get used to the TTS voice, right? I had, like, _one_ video I watched of Bread's where I felt a bit of cognitive dissonance, and since that moment, this voice has become synonymous with Bread. I don't even notice that it's TTS anymore most of the time except for when it does the weird timing, pronunciation or cadence thing that TTS is prone to. What I mean to say is: I'm almost sure if I heard this particular TTS voice bank elsewhere, I'd think of Bread first. ;D

knowing I can share my perspective without harassment means I can share my (probably bad) theory on Ralsei being a lightner instead of a darkner.
welp here I go,
1. In Chapter 1, whenever they talk about the lightners (note that Ralsei would be in the party by this point as it's right before Card Castle) they always JUST mention lightners, no darkners, implying that Ralsei is a lightner.
2. How tf does Ralsei know so much about the light world?
3. If Ralsei was a darkner wouldn't he have turned to stone because of the Cyber World?
4. And how DOES Ralsei get to the Cyber World anyways? there are NO entries to there from Castle Town OTHER than the Librarby (lol) in the light world

That he is contained within kris as an essence within their being, kind of Kris' idealization of asriel, what he wished he had. This explains why Ralsei can travel between dark worlds, because he is connected to kris, this may also explain why he doesn't turn to stone, as he isn't connected to a physical object. Unlike Rouxls Kaard and Lancer. I think lightners is the easiest way to address the group, And sometimes they are specifically talking to Kris and Susie and not Ralsei.

As in, in chapter 2 you can barely see the library, but not outside of it or anything like.
Seam has seen/ or at least knows what it is. "You don't want to get caught when the sun goes down." -Seam telling us to not be in a Dark World during that time.

At first I found the text to speech voice annoying, but now I’ve grown attached to it. Though it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get someone to read the script out loud or something
XD we're thinking about it, I had Sylvia read my 4 minute appeal video out loud. It was much more emotive of course, but unlike a bot, I had to make her do several takes, and it was exhausting.
It's kind of funny though, around the 2:12 mark of said video I was like "I can barely hear you, I need you to redo these lines with GUSTO. Imagine Papyrus yelling "you can DO IT HUMAN" and suddenly the video has this huge burst of energy. XD So I made it fade out and suddenly cut back in to make the bug a feature.
(little things like this are wasted on videos for bots. D: ) But uh, anyway, 20 minutes of voice work sounds exhausting. If I do this, I might end up splitting the load between multiple voice actors, or handing them parts in isolated chunks so they don't exhaust themselves.

@@sjcl2563 He did say in the video that his health precludes simply reading his own script. Which royally sucks, because I think the text-to-speech is probably the real issue with monetization. That would normally make sense, but they need to be able to make logical exceptions.

It's like a staple for the channel imo, and while replacing it with an actual person reading gives the video better quality and more effort, etc, the text to speech has a level of charm to it.
Crazy thought, but what if: the voice from the void is Kris? Not us, the player, but actually Kris when we're not, erm... borrowing their body? Because, maybe I interpreted it wrong, but it seems pretty clear to me that Kris and the player are two different entities, and that Kris really doesn't want us there. So what happens to Kris's consciousness when we're in control? Well, all this stuff about it being trapped in a place that's "dark" and "lonely" seems like a pretty good bet to me. And when you consider that Spamton's greatest fear is being used as a puppet, much like we're doing to Kris, and that he briefly hints at some similar stuff about everything being dark, plus the way he resonates with Kris...
Idk, chances are I'm waaay off; just thought it was interesting.
Kris is conscious and aware that we are controlling him and even forcing him to say certain things. This can be told by other people's reactions of Kris when he talks. I'm betting that voice is either the vessel we created but never inhabited or flowey being slain on the genocide route. Because he doesn't have a soul. We don't know if he actually went into an afterlife or something like that.
I'm wondering just how much we could read from the differences and details in the Japanese version of the game. There's apparently quite a few dialogue style changes (like Queen speaking in HTML comments lol), but I'm especially interested in how speech patterns are implemented. After all, there's only so much you can do with English... Japanese has three scripts and that opens up totally new opportunities. Besides the meta stuff regarding whether or not some text gets translated at all. For instance, I heard that the unused "person in the dark calling for help and hearing scratching" is actually translated into Japanese, unlike pretty much all the other unused text, which outlines its potential significance.
I watched a few japanese youtubers playing Undertale and Deltarune. The translation is amazing. Like Sans's bone jokes.
I can't really remember the detail but what really amaze me is Spamton.
Like when he said "I" in japanese it's "わたし" (watashi) but it's written "ワタ94"
94 can be read as "kushi" so it's "watakushi". I think it's more formal than "watashi"
Temmie's lines are pretty hard to read from what I get from the youtubers. The words are written like kinda this "ほｲ テﾐだ！" they mixed big and small symbol for Temmie. Oh, they did that too with Spamtom, but Spamton is worse lol.
@@Nofian-s1g To expand more on it, Spamton's dialogue in English has the occasional random insertion of death, such as "CLICK HERE TO [[Die]]", but Japanese Spamton takes it to a whole new level. Not only does Spamton keep replacing "die" for "dai" and "death" for "desu", but the numbers 9 and 4 also have alternate readings (shichi-shi) that both sound like the word for death (effectively making 94 "deathy-death"). Furthermore, being able to use four different writing systems to make Spamton's dialogue a seemingly near-incomprehensible mess _that is still readable by native speakers_ means that Spamton's poor grasp on spelling and grammar is taken to a whole new level. He barely even needs to be written to sound deranged because the medium itself already conveys it.

I know in the beginning it says that the creation was discarded of, but they still must exist is some form, evidenced by the real name of castle town.
I believe some of that info is also recorded in our save file too. Very unsettling.
The name of the castle town is based on _your_ real name that you entered, not the creation's name.

It's interesting that you mention the Japanese writing systems. There's something really suspicious I noticed about that: the UI only uses hiragana and katakana in Undertale and in the Light World, while all three are used in 1) the Dark World 2) The introduction with Gaster in Ch 1, and 3) The genocide ending with Chara. Additionally, these three places have options turn yellow when you're given a choice, as opposed to how they'd normally just stay white. (This part of the UI continues into the light world after leaving the Dark World in Ch 1, and Toby noted this on stream.) Really suspicious, but I have no idea why it happens. No clue! Regardless, thanks for this analysis; it turned out great, and I learned a lot!
Something very interesting is that in chapter 1 all the “unused” dialogue is commented out with “//” which in gms2, the software deltarune is coded in, basically tells the program to disregard that specific line of code, completely ignoring it. But in chapter 2 the lines aren’t commented out implying that between the two chapters the character trapped in the code may have gained some sort of control allowing the program or the world of deltarune to at least acknowledge its existence. I wonder if throughout the chapters of the game this character will regain more and more control until finally reamerging.

I don’t know how you do it, but somehow you get the voice that’s literally made to be monotone and emotionless and give it so much life and passion. I love it so much. And I do like recruiting other voices but not making them constant. Really makes the parts they appear in a lot more notable and interesting.

So this code is the event in which Susie and Kris "return" to the school. I made similar mistakes in the research faze, lol. "Warning: looking at the code too long will make you see ghosts!"
That classroom being called the "unused classroom" is some interesting word-choice though given the significance of "unused" here.

I actually almost made that connection, then I remember that Spamton's laugh is spelled like "hae hae" and the transcript for the abc thing is spelled "hehe." Completely forgetting that the "transcript" of that file (which is to say "how it looks when someone types it out") is fanmade, so I foolishly assumed Spamton's laugh wasn't connected.
And I literally did not realize my mistake until I tried to explain why I didn't do that lol. Oops!

with the implication that Toby is putting out a challenge to the hackers and dataminers to help uncover the story, but the game design and story of deltarune itself is still accessible and coherent to the more casual player who won't dig into the code and files (like me), there's a fully non 0% chance that Toby will hide a whole game, expanded content, or segment *inside* the code that won't be essential to the story, but will add so much. So this can only be accessed by the dataminers, but because of internet sharing and popularity, will reach the more casual player as well. Toby huge brain
Just a headcanon, but I think that in entry 17, Gaster may be talking directly to us, hence the pause of him acknowledging us floating around where we aren't supposed to be, and kicking us out of the game. The "two" would be Frisk and Chara, or maybe even the Player.

As someone who deals with terrible chronic pain, I understand. My job as a teacher is very, very difficult with this disability and I want to quit all the time. Spending all day on my feet, trying to get through all the paperwork with bad brain fog, the stress of dealing with terribly behaved kids, etc.

I love each of these deep dives, feels like there's something about the world of the game to pick apart that is interesting even if its not necessarily trying to predict how the story will turnout. It's like tearing through and studying the fabric of reality of the game world, you can find out how stuff works and things you didn't see before but we don't totally get it right off the bat.
This isn't related to the video but I thought I'd just throw it in here cuz I've yet to see others mention it. Isn't it kinda weird Susie talks about blood now and again? She calls the heart donut jam in chapter one blood, blood explosion magic, telling lancer "everyone bleeds, right?". I guess lancer had his blood bucket thing, but Susie seems to mention more about blood than anyone else. And with how that one kid in the lightworld is confused about blood in humans, it seems fairly concrete that monsters aren't known for having blood in them.
It just seems off with Kris being the only human around town that susie would be very familiar with blood. obviously she thinks its cool but ever since i noticed its made that unused sprite of Susie healing her own wound I didnt think much of before seem sus.

The content is great enough, but what really got me was the personal posts at the beginning and end of the video. This is the first vid of yours I've watched, but it resonated. I've been seeing so many layers of irony piled onto talking about struggles these past few years. And so many calls to attention that are unaware of how difficult it is to get anything done with it, or are bitterly defeatist. It gets draining. Something to add, in Japanese the "It's so dark, please say something" dialogue and the updated version use words that have feminine and childish connotations. Whoever's trapped may be a young girl, or at least someone who speaks that way (for example, Flowey talks similarly when using his friendly facade). Dess is thought to be more masculine and mature, but maybe its just a case of fanon vs canon, or maybe she's talking like this out of emotional distress. Or it could just not be Dess talking, but anyway.
The voice who calls for help through Spamton talks the same way, and this voice uses a combination of hiragana, katakana, and kanji, same as the one saying "is that a cut on your face or part of your eye?" Problem is, one's supposedly talking to Gaster (or Chara, their jumpscare face also fits the 'gash weaves down as if you cry' description. It could also fit the eyes found in the dark world's cliffs and on one of the titans, but I'm not sure what to make of that yet) and the other is alone in a void. Maybe they saw the face in the dark at some point and just wasn't sure if it was real or if the person is still there? (something like encountering mysteryman in undertale) Or is the person asking about the eye just separate from the person calling for help?
Either way, I'm really interested in this unused code world.

You can edit your save file to have all of the random quantities, putting them in the bar will only give them an empty text that instantly deletes itself, except for Jevil who has an empty text that soft locks you.

One of the ideas I have about the Unused text is that it belongs to the discarded vessel from start of Chapter 1, and that the Soul that "Kris" has, belongs to that vessel. Another thing I was going to mention is that we don't know when that text would take place within the given chapter, but the second chapter's text referring to not being heard, and hearing scratching, so that could be related to when the sink is too loud and the Soul is trapped, and the tires get Slashed.
This Video snapped something in my brain. A light bulb shined for if only a moment. I think it was one of your newer videos about an entity that may possibly being a danger to the citizens of the over world. Then tis talking about the "empty vessels". I'm not positive if it was ever officially determined or just false lore made by the fandom about G. Being shattered across space and time. What if this ALL of this is an attempt to create a new suitable vessel for HIM to return. He is running various tests on subjects that no one would miss, notice, or kind of care about. Jevil went mad and was to an extent abandoned and exiled from his realm, Spamton became corrupted spam and became abandoned and sue do forgotten about by his friends and fans, maybe to a lower extend he was attempting to go beyond this and corrupt someone who was an outsider beyond the dark. Perhaps he began trying to take control of Kris and his last two failed projects thus far showed that he had to attempt to make them more personable to reconform them to Behave. Maybe G. is a form of us trying to make Kris a proper vessel to be used and they are fighting back with everything they have to resist to be themselves to have their own freedom returned. Or perhaps they had been tainted by G. and we are attempting to change their dark yet darker path and same them from the same similar fates of Jevil and Spamton. I am not sure just some spit balling please be gentle lol
On the blueprint, some of the symbols on the left appear to be the Japanese “konō” which translates roughly as “child”
Those squiggles do vaguely resemble that kanji. 子の but only vaguely. Honestly the の looks more like a ゆ and if it were meant to be read that way I'd expect it to look different between localizations, since Undertale/Deltarune are pretty good about updating images between the two to make sure players from different regions share the same experience. Good eye though!
