I love how Scrooge first shows his face in this film; scaring the crowd away by turning and looking at them like he's thinking "YOU WHAT, MATE?!" And it's realistic, since if Michael Caine turned and stared at _me_ like that, I'd be moving right along myself! And no, I'm not making a pun out of the Moving Right Along song from The Muppet Movie. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all!

I still think the scene in Mickeys Christmas Carol where Scrooge gets pushed into his grave by Ghost Pete and is about to descend into Hell is one of the scariest things I've seen in a Christmas movie. Especially for a Disney movie.

Just saw another reactor do this movie and intro her video as if she was flat out 'embarassed' to be doing a Muppet Movie... as if it were for babies. As someone who was raised on Jim Henson and Frank Oz's works (including Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, etc)... its depressing that theres an entire generation that grew up without the 'Muppet Magic". The Muppets were always clever, smart, funny, and for all ages. They never pandered, they never talked down to the audience, even on Sesame Street... they appealed to kids but Henson sense of humor was aimed right at the adults.

That was the very first adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” and in my opinion, it’s the best out of all of the adaptations! I love Michael Caine’s role of Scrooge, Gonzo’s narration and role of Charles Dickens and his shenanigans with Rizzo. Statler and Waldorf were excellent as the Marley Brothers. I also love the songs notably written by singer songwriter Paul Williams for this movie. Interesting fact about Paul Williams, he was involved in many old Muppet movies. He wrote songs for “Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas”, “The Muppet Movie” and “Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa”. He even guest starred in The Muppet Show. His songs are the best! Paul wrote another song that was missing from “The Muppet Christmas Carol”. It was sung by Belle, and it’s called “When Love is Gone”. It’s my favorite song from the movie. You can only see it in a VHS/Dvd version in a Full screen version. You can also see it on RUclips. The song “When Love is Gone” has been taken off when the movie came out in theaters for a few reasons. The song sequence was not only sad, but long and boring when it was shown during the test run. Also younger viewers could not comprehend that the song is about a breakup. As a child, I saw it on VHS and I enjoyed hearing Belle sing. Still I didn’t understand about breakups. I read the original book in junior high, and understood more about the story.

I will not be taking questions on this topic.
And I saw it as an adult when my son was a child. I plan to show it to my grandson, just as soon as they re-edit it to have The Song "The Love Is Gone". Otherwise I will keep my DVD and show it to my grandson.
I'm so glad you appreciate it. Merry Christmas xx

When asked if he would accept the role. Micheal Caine said that he would, on the condition he could play his character totally straight.
As if the was in an all human serious production.
This totally paid off showing the depth of character of Scrooge, and his style really had a nice edge, when on screen with the Muppets.

I saw "Mickey's Christmas Carol" in the theater. It was shown with the 1983 re-issue of "The Rescuers." "The Muppet Christmas Carol" had a song cut for its theatrical release, "When Love Is Gone," sung by Belle to Scrooge, although they kept "When Love Is Found" in (sung by Scrooge during the Finale). "When Love Is Gone" was restored for the film's LaserDisc and VHS release, but then it was cut again prior to the film being released on DVD. Brian Henson said in an interview that Disney lost the original film elements for that song, and he didn't think that they'd ever be found. However, Disney did find them relatively recently. When the film was first added to Disney+ the song was still missing, but it has since been restored (at least in the U.S.). This is my favorite Muppet movie, followed by "Muppet Treasure Island."

It is hilarious how often Gonzo and Rizzo are used as punching bags, either from their own choices or by being the invisible narrators and commentators of the story and get walked over by the cast as a result (or knocked down from windows multiple times, or taken through a forest obstacle course while hanging from a rope, or being crushed by the busts in the school because the building is decaying over the years).

Michael Caine didn't have to go _so hard_ in a Muppet movie for kids - but he damn well _did,_ and the world is a better place for it.
I can't tell whether you saw the full version that contained the song "When Love Is Gone", sung by Belle during the break-up scene, or whether you saw the theatrical cut in which it is missing. Without the song, the reaction of older Scrooge and Rizzo can seem a little sudden and over-dramatic, and it also sets up the final reprise "The Love We Found" at the end of the movie, making it more poignant.
