2020/2021 Preservation Awards: Hotel Figueroa

Opened in 1926 as a women’s-only hostelry for the YWCA, this building was once a home for female creatives, business women, and single mothers who were otherwise not allowed to travel without their significant other. As such, it became a hub for the creative community, political organizations, and social clubs of DTLA. After falling into a state of relative disrepair, the hotel was renovated and reopened in 2018 with programming that nods to its past.
