    The wheel hub bolts are supposed to be torque to 25 ft-lb, plus 60°. The axle nut is supposed to be torque to 180 ft-b, the front brake bracket at 75 ft-lbs and the wheels at 100 ft-lb. All of this should be tighten with the torque wrench, not rammed home with an impact gun

    Some friendly advice....remove your ABS sensor first so it doesn't get damaged. Also, use a wire brush/emory cloth to clean out the hub area. Then add a thin layer of anti-seize before you install the new hub assembly. This will make it easier for the next guy to get the bearing hub out without much hammering. And as I always say when doing your own maintenance, you might be the next guy!
    Overall a great video to show it doesn't take any real specialty tools or extensive knowledge to do this job. As others have commented though I would highly recommend using a torque wrench especially for the axle nut. If you over tighten it there is a substantial risk of too much pressure on the actual bearing which will cause premature bearing failure.

      Thanks for the tips, it definitely will save you from a broken abs sensor. Cheers!

    Sweet, straight to the point and simple. I do my repairs and maintenance the same way. No torque tightening and all that BS. If an impact can tighten it, it will loosen it. Love it!!
    Best of luck, keep on!!

    Love the video! I have heard horror stories about replacing these, but I am in the northeast so we have the road salt to deal with. Would it have been a good idea to grease the spline and where the hub meets with the knuckle?

      I got lucky i guess, I would advise getting a wire wheel, sandpaper, or steel wool to clean the opening for the wheel bearing and maybe add some anti seize to help lubricate it.

    Mine is making a squealing sound only when the wheel is turned to the left(even slightly). Am I correct in assuming the bearing is bad? Same thing happened in my 2012 Nissan frontier. I changed the hub assembly out and the sound went away. Is it true that these should always be changed out in pairs(meaning both sides at the same time)? Also I did not see any ABS wiring there. Did i miss something? Where is the ABS wiring? Great video!! Thanks you very much. It will be a great help when i tackle this problem next Thursday when the parts come in. And I WILL be changing the pads and rotors as well.

    • @MobileCarMechanic
      @MobileCarMechanic  10 месяцев назад

      It’s a possibility that the hub could be going out. I would check to see if the rotor is close to the dust shield and possibly rubbing on it as it can happen. The abs sensors are typically mounted behind the bearing as the sensor is reading the axle speed via a ring. I’d advise to do them in pairs.

  • @DennisFlickinger
    @DennisFlickinger Месяц назад

    How do I know if the metal ring for the Sensor to read is facing the correct way. They fell off the axles and I am not sure i put them in correctly. I get the ABS, parking and anti skid light on. Does the smooth side face the sensor?

    • @MobileCarMechanic
      @MobileCarMechanic  Месяц назад

      Look at 7:27 and pause and you will see the ring on the axle. Looks like the tapered side is facing out.

    My 2015 CX-5 is making a noise from the front that leads me to believe it is the axel in front. Humming/gargle sound from the front-heard on deceleration.

    • @MobileCarMechanic
      @MobileCarMechanic  Год назад

      That sounds like a tricky one. Does the humming get louder as you go faster? It is a possibility that it could be related to the bearing or the axle. I did have to replace one on this vehicle as it was making a loud noise along with some clicking.

  • @cwegner516

      You may need to jack up the front end and check for play at 12 and 6 on the wheel or jack up the front end to try to spin the wheel by hand or have both wheels suspended in the air and put the vehicle in drive and see if you hear a noise while hitting the gas to see if you hear any noises. Might be tires, could be bearing. in this case the driver hit a big pot hole that drives for uber and the impact was so hard that it cracked the passenger side corner of the front windshield.
