Tried this out in a shop before buying and was politely asked to turn it the f* down, to which I tought: "Sweet! This'll probably be loud enough for band practise and small stages". Took it to band practise last night, hooked it up to a compact 1x12 8ohm cab, dailed the master volume past noon thinking I'd need to crank it to keep up with our drummer (we're an indie rock-ish band, he's a loud playing punk drummer), but I had to dail it back to like 11 or 10. This thing can go pretty darn loud and seriously sounds great! My main amp's been an AC30 for a few years, but if this turns out as great live as it did in the practise space the AC30 might be collecting dust the coming months... First upcoming gig'll be soon and I'm eager to try it out!
This is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you for your helpful demo. I watched Henning's video first and then yours and it was a very useful addition. It's pretty amazing what this small pedal amp is capable of. Especially the sagging function is nice to have.
Important point worth (re)emphasizing: you MUST USE A SPEAKER CABLE out of the Stompman to your cab and NOT an instrument cable. So be prepared to buy a lengthy speaker cable. Not a problem and not cost prohibitive but an absolute must. Otherwise, bad things will happen to the power section. Great video! Seriously considering getting one of these or the larger Ampman.
Apparently, it's not that dangerous like in a regular amp. But of course, you'll need at least a short speaker cable to plug into whatever speaker you're plugging this into. If you have an old amp, you can just unplug that speaker and plug it into this.
I agree. Doubt that any rock stars are looking at these products. I need more clean control plus power, and less saturation. A dual purpose amp for guitar and pedal steel is more my needs. Milkman is a favorite in my circle, but it's still one channel.
Thanks for the review, just subscribed. Would you mind posting another vid of a rehearsal with a drummer? That's the question in my mind actually, whether it'll be capable of handling a rock drummer or not. Other than that, this seems to be the perfect fly rig solution.
It's almost like you answered my question I put in the group today with this video. My only poi t that might get me sagging, is no headphones out. That's a shame. Sounds good though.
Sounds good. Sagging is actually when the power transformer can't deliver enough V for the signal transients. The transient level is reduced and the distorion increases and becomes more wild. It's a little different than reducing V to the amp.
Great review, thanks for doing multiple guitars and pedals! The tone range is this is great. I love these pedal board amps. I don't travel with a rig, I just like the small size. This sounds really good. I was in the market for a Quilter superblock, but this just made my decision harder. Wish this had reverb though. This cannot be powered with a lower wattage supply right? Quilter will allow theirs to be powered from pedal board supply, it just turns it into a lower wattage "head" I believe.
You missed the biggest limitation: you need electricity or 24 volt DC. Something so small but still need carry around an adaptor and have to access the grid. There are better options.
Sag ---- Well done! Ordered one. It won't replace my Blankenship, but will work great alone side it as a wet dry rig, and of course when I don't want to fire up the tubes for noodling ---- ging!
Sagging is such sweet sorrow. Great video, I got the ampman when it came out, and immediately sent it back, I loved everything about it except the difference in volume between the two channels. Looks like that won’t be an issue here, but after returning it I purchased a stomp xl and love it. So I no longer need one of these but thanks for a great video.
I have the Ampman classic too and the volume difference between channels really can't be understated how dramatic it is. I hope they fix this in updates or modders can figure out how to fix it!
“Return of the Stompman” must become a film. Will answer aaaaall those questions from “Stompman: The Stompening”. Excellent little pedal and great run through, Andy!

Looks like Blackstar is doing the same thing. But I hear so many people brag about the Quilter that I wonder if this is just as good? And this is 60 bucks cheaper. Thanks!

Even on gigs I don't use it, it would be great to have in my back pocket in case something goes wrong with my amp. Of course keeping it there will cause severe pant sagging so maybe I'll leave it in a gig bag instead.
I think it would fit in my 90s jeans trousers pockets
@@TheGuitarGeek They thought we looked like trouble makers but we were just carrying our pocket amps. Very little known fact.
@@DTension 🎶and I’ve got one amp in my pocket… 🎶
Can I use this on the power amp in on a katana mk2 50watt?
From the line out into the power amp in, yes
@@TheGuitarGeek cool thnx
How big is the external power supply?
About as big as a laptop power supply
@@TheGuitarGeek Which in a way negates the board-friendly size of these type of amps. And Quilters are very guilty of this too. Im just surprised that NO reviewer ever shows the power supplies that are nearly bigger than the pedal. This is hugely important and should be at least mentioned in reviews.
@@scottstetzer I actually did film it but it somehow got cut out by the editor and I didn’t notice. Thanks for picking me up on this
The Sweetwater link seems to be sagging.
It will work once they are in stock.
Nothing about it on Sweetwater.
