THANK YOU for starting with very clean tones. Too many demos head for the distortion after two strums. That sagging knob (!) is worth the price of admission alone. Sounds amazing!

Just purchased (2023) in Canada - a little late to the party - but it was discounted by 30% ($199 CAN). Purchased primarily as a backup should my head fail at a show - but may use it for smaller PA-only shows - and possibly in the studio (although I am using a Strymon Iridium, and I am not sure they'll work well together??)... Your review is exactly what I was looking for. So thanks! W regards to reverb - while i DO agree it should have been built in - I typically get my reverb on ALL my rigs with a pedal, so this is working just fine... (smells like geek spirit..?)
...would you say the vintage channel on the Ampman sounds the same like the spirit of vintage Nano Head? I've once played the Spirit of vintage and was very impressed.
Smells like Geek Spirit! Great vid man, also loved seeing Henning and 60 Cycle Hum show up in the live chat. Shame these amps don’t include an effects loop. I used an orange Micro Dark as my gigging amp for two whole years doing worship music and that loop came in super handy for delays, modulation and reverb. Hopefully the next version of these H&K amps will include that (or include a reverb)
Hey, Andy. How about making a video showing how these perform when placing some pedals in front of them? Maybe they can be good pedal platforms. This way you can place delay and reverb after your drive pedals and solve the lack of a fx loop.
I picked up the spirit of vintage in a panic to replace a blown up head to get me through a weekend. It's....OK.....sort of. The noise floor is high, as you note. It sounds OK. But...not being able to use reverb, delay, etc (no effects loop) is criminal. At least offer a built-in reverb. Those deficiencies put it into the "toy" category for me. Smells like geek spirit.
Hey, back with the replay, after Ryan and Henning sorry, you guys killing my time ;), if I had to choose one, will be the Vintage, clean fenderish sound, will be good for pedals too, ...and smell like geek spirit, ofc ;)
Hi Andy the best to me was the spirit of rock. There were some fantastic tones. It really needs at least a reverb. I do feel they could have dropped the sag and added a reverb or at least an effects loop. The Joyo Bantamp Has one which means I can stick a reverb and delay in it properly. It was a great review though and entertaining very well covered. Brilliant 👍 Darn it - smells like geek sprit already 😂😂😂
Smells like Geek Spirit. It could be the hand-gel though. :) Surprisingly for me, the one I'm least likely to buy would be The Spirit of Metal. I'd probably go for the rock one but the vintage is cool too.
Thanks for doing the video, but when trying a 'metal' amp, you MIGHT want to push gain past halfway? Don't be afraid LoL but can't say an amp doesn't sound metal when you aren't even going to halfway on the gain! Just my thoughts on that part of the video. Thanks again!
Andy, I received my H&K Spirit of Rock yesterday. In this video, you said that the Nano Spirit amps don’t have to be connect to a cab and thus can be used for silent practicing. Is this an assumption on your part or did someone tell you or did you read it somewhere? I’ve read the manual twice now and I don’t see this information. I’m just trying to making sure it is ok to do before trying it. Thanks and cheers!
Andy, I found my answer on their website. 😊 “But Spirit Nano Heads are also real tone-sculpting tools that produce big studio sound even with the smallest recording setup - no speaker or microphone required.”
Nice overview of these amps! I've really been interested in the glut of "nano amps" that different brands have been pumping out, and I ended up with a Joyo MeteOR which I'm pretty happy with. These amps, comparatively, lack an FX loop and channel switching, which is a bummer. The Vintage model is easily the best here and sounds really good for what it is. The Metal amp is... okay... it at least has some character. The Rock amp is very bland in my opinion and the worst of the three.
The 'CHEAP' part is where I worry. I didn't care for any of them. I didn't think "this smells like geek spirit." 😂 You never explained how the Tone knob is different than one that rolls off/boosts the highs.
Andy good review .. honest and it’s good to hear gear played by a person not an expert If it was my money I’d save up the extra £100 and buy the Spirit Ampman Classic All the tones of all 3 , similar output but fx loop,😁 more tone control as well as a noise gate and ability to store settings BUT having said that for a simple home rig starting out they would have made me want to maim someone too Thanks Andy

Glad to have you Derrick! Yes I need to get around to banning those two. With reverb, these amps would be a no brainer
I love your videos man, keep it up. It's a highlight of my week.

Smells like team spirit! Thumbs up!
Excellent review thank you very much. No reverb!! Reverb on the front just sucks... I suspect this is a game-stopper. Bugera T5 perhaps for me.

Actually it does have a loop…. Go out the line out and then go in the AUX. you just need to go 1/4 to 1/6. Test that.
When I first clicked on this I was wondering why a gun manufacturer was making amps. Didnt know there was a different H&K
Loving the Oh, Me licks
Thanks! Don’t know which part of my brain that fell out of

I kept wondering if you'll go full Ola on it... though it did Smelled like Geek Spirit

Thanks Tom! I totally agree with you. Maybe the new floor amps have it sorted
The Majesty of Rock! Smells like geek spirit!
Not the metal?
Smells like Geek Spirit. It could be the hand-gel though. :)
Surprisingly for me, the one I'm least likely to buy would be The Spirit of Metal. I'd probably go for the rock one but the vintage is cool too.
As someone who's unfamiliar with the H&K brand, on first viewing I'd go with the Vintage. It smells like geek spirit more than the other two.
The vintage is pretty fun! H&K have lots of amps and things. You should familiarize yourself
@@TheGuitarGeek I think I will at some point, they've just never been on my radar before!

I use a caster for metal :)

Wow that smells like geek spirit. Cool little amps, I like the vintage the most
Smells like GEEK spirit! Missed the intro and just watched it hhahaha
That’s my special guest... mystery speaker 😂

I like the sound of the vintage amp best and bet it smells like geek spirit.
I can confirm that this one does indeed
Sad you didn`t get the sharktar nor the Jagstar, but you stii sound like Geek spirtit ;-)
Very sad... one day I shall own a shark shaped guitar 😂
Smells just a bit like geek spirit, just without reverb!😁
I’m rather surprised at how good these amps sound. I should check them out.
You should!
The 'CHEAP' part is where I worry.
I didn't care for any of them. I didn't think "this smells like geek spirit." 😂

Smaller than the lunch box ... It's genus .... I like it..
which spkr,,, bro
Wait I made it to the end but I’m still trying to Sag my jeans and walk upright like a modern human.
Vintage is my choice of the three
careful with that sag!
That’s my bag man..
Oooh if you can see it me I’ve sagged to far😱
These are cool, but with the lack of effects loop, I genuinely feel these would’ve been better in a pedal format. And yeah, too damn noisy.
What about Fuzz 🤔🍻🎸🎸
Andy good review .. honest and it’s good to hear gear played by a person not an expert

Respectfully disagree. Telecaster is definitely metal!
They are sooooo tiny.
